Great job! I'm about to try and resurrect my 1985 Cj7. You are motivating me:). Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I believe you have yourself quite a little gem. I was reading that CJ5's with the V8's are very highly sought after. Good luck with the restoration!
How strange that it has that plastic dash piece. I had a '78 CJ-5 and it was like all the other Jeeps before it with the steel dash. I lost the keys to mine on a trip miles from home. I took the 4way lug wrench and smacked the ignition lock with it 2 or 3 times and it broke through the locking mechanism so that the ignition switch could be turned by hand with no key. Afterwards if I wanted to make sure it didn't get stolen I would remove the coil wire when I parked it and lock the hood down with a padlock that fit into the hood's "eye" hole behind the grill when it was shut. Mine had the 258 straight six in it and it still had more power and torque than it needed. I could put it in 1st gear in 4 low and drive up to a tree, get out and watch it start digging itself into the ground, lol.
Well done, sir! Not the way I would have approached it but you got there in a different way. Are you wearing a Rolex watch while doing your auto mechanics?
If you watch some of my earlier videos I used to wear my Rolex all of the time. In this video I had just gotten it back from being refurbished. I do not wear it much now because it looks so good and I am afraid of putting the first mark on it.
Great video! I'm a long time fan of the CJ-5...had a 79 Renegade but foolishly sold it way too long ago. If you ever opt to sell or unload that, I'm right here in MA and would love to do a full restoration on it.
This vehicle just arrived at my home in NC this week. The plan is to do some sort of restoration and send it back to them in Mass. Stay tuned for plenty of videos.

I think this was a Levi's Edition and that may be why the dash pad is there.
