The ignition wire was hooked up directly to the harness? I was under the impression you had to manually hook up the ignition wire to the fuse box in the car. Even the harness i got from Crutchfield doesnt have an ignition wire leading directly to the harness
If you buy the correct harness, it works properly. If you cheap out and buy the shitty one, you have to run a wire to the fuse box. Pay the extra $35 instead of risking electrical issues/damage.
Yes you can do the hack to get around this, which can be safe if you know what your doing, or buy the harness that looks after this situation. It wasn't explained in this video unfortunately wasting people's time
@@prestofixit3518 I have an 05 golf with a tape deck and was told something about a radio interface, i can't find a lot of info, do you know anything about that?
Billy if you buy the kit from crutchfeild they give you everything needed for it to work! You can even pay them to wire the harness for you so it’s literally plug and play
The most significant part of after market radio installation is the wiring. Especially on this vehicle. You zipped right through it.
I mean... it’s pretty straightforward, both of the wires are color coated! You just match them up and solder it on.

I had to run my ignition wire to the fuse box. When I wired it to the harness, the radio wouldn't shut off.
