- In this video we upgrade the head unit in a 2009 VW Jetta to a RCD360 unit. The unit is branded a SCUMAXCON and was purchased from Amazon. The unit also came with the correct adapter so the installation was simple.

Another helpful tutorial 👍🏼. Only thing that’s different from my installation is the little vent dial cover on top is a lil loose cuz every little clip got thanos snapped by me. 😂
I snapped a few of those tabs off at one point.....ended up getting a used replacement when I installed the rear view camera

I have VW polo but my cable has different connections to the cable that connects the me system cable. What cable do I need to interconnect the system.( same radio and cable to yours)
Very nice video! I have an MK6 Jetta with an RCD 510 head unit which has OPS (Optical Parking System) functionality. Is this head unit also support the OPS or just the rear view camera? And what about the climate and steering control? Do these work?

I have one that is very similar. If not just about the same. The only question that I have is, how do I get on Maps wirelessly because I was on iPhone Apple Maps without the cable that’s the only question I have.
They offer a wireless version of the rcd360…. Have you heard of that working in these vehicles as well or only the plug in car play will work?
Hello bro great video, I have a 2013 vw polo and wanted to ask if this radio has any problems in the long term? Because I hear people complain about the 360 saying it’s not the best built etc.. did you have any problems in the long term? Would recommend this to me?

Did you need any extra work to show the rear view camera? I have it installed from the factory (stock). Do I need to do anything extra to have them working? Or they’ll just work once the OEM is installed?

My car did not have an OEM camera. The head unit has an RCA camera input and trigger wire. My understanding is that it will work with the OEM camera but the RCA adapter has to be added to the large radio harness.
Did you have to replace the Can Gateway ?
I have a 2009 VW jetta TDI (build date 08/2008) and I want to update my radio.
I did not and haven't have any issues with battery drain.
Did you have any issues with the AM/FM function? I saw on the Amazon ads for these it requires an adapter. Although I only really use Bluetooth in my TDI it would be nice to have the option for the radio. Thanks! Great video!

Do u think the steering wheel buttons will still work for volume n so on?? Wanna use in my mk6
I'm not sure, I know it specifies that it does not support the Fender or Dynaudio sound systems
it appears to turn on while the car is off without the keys in the ignition. Is this because the unit is not talking to the vw can bus? is there a fix for this? also does the dimming work and match the dash? what color does it light up? red?
I just installed a custom radio on my mkV. I had to splice it into a 12v ignition fuse

I have a base model 2007 rabbit I’d like to put this in. I’ve heard something about battery drain or changing the canbus system or something. If I just manually turn the radio off it shouldn’t draw power from the battery if I run into that issue right?
My understanding is you would still need the canbus adapter to prevent the drain. It isn’t just the radio being on that creates the draw.

I don’t have steering wheel controls but the product description says cars produced before 2010, you need to choose a decoder cable (ASIN:B081ZNS9CW),otherwise this radio cannot support multi-function steering wheel.
Does the R330 and R360 have dab and rear parking camera options.
The RCD360 I installed supports a camera
Does it support tire pressure reset feature?
I do not believe the model I purchased supports the tire pressure monitoring system
How do you find the microphone? Does it do the job?
The mic is integrated into the face of the head unit. I believe it is the few holes in the button area on the left. It works well. The audio quality using the phone is great.
If the radio comes with a canbus module, will I still be able to pass smog?
I don't think the radio has anything to do with failing smog. I don't think the wrong canbus would generate a CEL

I have a question for some reason my radio was draining the battery 2009 jetta 2.5
I just put this in my 2006 Jetta 2.5 and the display doesn’t turn off. Is their a fix for this?
It never has any problems until I install this radio

Does the radio still charge your phone after turning the car off? I installed it but I’m worried about battery drain
I just did a quick test and it appears the USB port on the radio remains powered even when the car is turned off

@@tyronebooth278 good question. The radio shouldn't have turned on while the car was off, let alone the key wasn't even in ignition. Something isn't correct with the wiring, that's why I've taken mine back out because there's always a constant on it for some reason.

No, I think the earlier years require a slightly different adapter so it doesn't drain the battery

Which is better RCD 330 or RCD 360 ?

Most importantly, How is the sound quality? I found the factory stereo in my 14 JSW to be muddy sounding, I am used to it now but i am wondering if this offers any improvement.
I would say it is a typical factory sounding system

The RCD330 has been known to have electrical leakage issues. If you have the RCD360 you may need purchase a different adapter to resolve the battery drain issue.

Just wondering if you need that adapter? Mine didn’t come with one and the Amazon add doesn’t show any adapter. Is this aftermarket for steering wheel functions? Or is it an adapter from mk6 to mk5 head unit?

I'm not sure, mine came with the adaptor cable. My understanding is that even another decoder is required if you have a multi-function wheel

No issues. My particular head unit had a 'warning' saying that for cars before 2009 an additional canbus gateway would be needed to prevent battery drain. It being a 2009 I didn't get the part......and everything has been fine.
6 months how is it holding up?
Absolutely fine. I added the rear view camera a while back as well.

I had a new radio installed in my Jetta, and now the entire electrical system is screwed up
mine was plug n play using the harness and I have had no issues

Why did you go with the RCD360 instead of the RCD 330. I have read there have been many issues with the RCD 360, have you had any? Thanks!
Honestly, went with the RCD360 due to availability and price at the time. I haven't had any issues with it.

You do know this is not the original VW RCD330, it’s a cheap Chinese copy, you have to look after RCD 330 NoName or Desay unit to get the genuine one from VW.
I actually state that very point between 9:15 and 9:44 in the video.
