I love how quick the walk cycles are in this game. Every character moves relatively slowly but the pace of the animation makes it look like a full blown sprint. The sausage is especially funny because of how wildly it's flailing about.

used to always play this as a kid on my intellivision in the mid 80s. always tried to get the hotdog, egg and pickles all together to drop from the top bun
I could never get far in this game, and it wasn't because of the game difficulty, because it certainly wasn't... It was the jittery way the characters moved, especially the hot dogs, that had me losing it and laughing my ass off! I could never play, nor even watch this game, and keep a straight face!
The keys to this game were to know the enemies would always want to come at you head on and would take the shortest path to your face. Also, they can't ever turn around and reverse their course unless they hit a dead end. They always go forward only.

I’m surprised the health inspectors didn’t shut this place down, the food moves on its own in an attempt to murder the cook, not to mention the cook uses his feet to prepare burgers.
By the time it got to 1991 every arcade was a: Beat'em up, fighting game, run'n gun, or rail shooter. That being said I love me some Mortal Kombat, Street fighter II, TMNT, and NARC.
They don't seem that good to me. It looks like they're going out of their way to *not* score points. (Like if they'd just pause and let the enemy catch up before dropping a burger part, the enemy would fall with the burger and (a) stun the enemy for a while, (b) drop the burger an extra two levels for each enemy they caught on it, and (c) score a lot more points)
@@victor.elkins I mean, I know all that. The fact that they have all these tools at their disposal *and* they're still playing the game as badly as possible (other than not dying) is why I have trouble watching it.
@@sainttrunks1982 It's named that way because once you get to level 256, part of the screen is a garbled mess so it's impossible to complete the level.
No, it's an acronym for Data East COrporation. Most of the actual game boxes and advertisements used the name Data East, but early Data East games used the DECO acronym.
Bally Midway (later Midway Games) handled North American distribution of both BurgerTime and Bump 'n Jump (Burnin' Rubber in Japan) until Data East had its own North American operations. The same company also held NA distribution rights for NAMCO's Pac-Man series from 1980-84.
This player doesn’t know how to rack up points. They’re good at avoiding getting caught, but they don’t wait for the breakfast food to run onto the burger layers before letting them fall.
A nice relaxing day with Burger Time said nobody ever! Don't forget to pepper the sausages and be careful of those fried eggs. Blindingly obvious really

the gameplay at 5:11 displayed a higher skill than a normal gamer as they will have to use a pepper to get out of that tight situation. No doubt you are good but why run thru each layer of burger without dropping enemies along with burger ? This way you can do a faster job and get higher score point. But your skill is surely better than mine so I will take it as you are aware of this tactics.
I wish there was a power-up that could clear the screen of all the enemies at once giving you more time to build more burgers before the enemies respawn.

I have 2 statements to make. 1) whoever made this game must've been on recreational pharmaceuticals. 2) even if you had hot dogs and eggs walking around, and you made burgers by stepping on them, who in the world is going to put hot dogs and eggs on burgers?
Hot dog could just be a rival for burger like chickens. As for eggs, i have seen people make their own burgers, then fry eggs and put the eggs on the burgers.
... kinda painful to watch, actually. Did you *deliberately* avoid dropping buns with the enemies standing on them? Because that's what it looks like. The only time in the first three stages (before I couldn't watch anymore) where you drop an enemy with a bun it almost looks like you did it accidentally.
A cheeseburger with eggs is delicious. They make it at steak and shake. Fry an egg and add it to your burger the next time you make burgers at home. Tastes awesome with bacon, lettuce, and tomato.
