A Tribute to Edward Van Halen

- Опубліковано 2 жов 2021
- I started making this video to show my 11 and 14 year old kids how special EVH was. Been a fan since 1978 and have seen VH 14 occasions with 1984 being the first. Today's music is not what it used to be as it now lacks creativity and innovation. Everything is about Pro tools and no emotion. As I started getting more and more into this project it became more fun to do. I got it to where I am happy with it that I think it does Eddie's Legacy justice. I hope you enjoy it. Long Live King Edward.
This may be the definitive Eddie Van Halen tribute video, period. Bravo. I'm in a mess on the floor.
Agreed Chills and tears brother
same here
Same.

😪
I was a 52yo grown ass man the day Eddie passed, and I cried like I lost a family member.
Eddie wrote the soundtrack to my life.
I was at the last Rush concert here in LA, & it was like we all lost something we grew up with.
Then Neil Peart passes away months before Eddie, & was really upset every time I had a Rush song, same with VH
agree. I am 51 and cried like a baby for each of their passing. I'm a guitar player and teacher and he has been the greatest for me
Amen brother. I thought of people who had affected me in my life that much. Not very many.
I was 50 on the day of his passing and did the same. He was a part of my life for sure. February 17th 1978 was my eighth birthday and my older brother let me take VH 1 to School for music show and tell. The rest is history as they say. R.I.P Sir Edward.
A special thanks to the maker of this video tribute. You did a great job thank you for putting the effort into this it was very touching and moving as we all miss him.
@Robert Powell I sure would have liked to see them myself. In 1984 I was 14 and tickets were $35-$100. They might as well of been $1000 cause back then coming up with that kind of money was almost impossible. Living in Flint Michigan we saw some very poor times. Jobs were non-existent. If you got to see them in that Era you were truly fortunate. Seeing them with S Hagar wasn't for me I was one of the fans that felt betrayed. ( By the entire band) That said They headlined Monsters of Rock in 88' and those tickets were $100-$500. If only I came from a rich family! Lol.
It's awesome that you were able to see Ed play.
When Eddie passed we lost a part of our youth, grew up on Van Halen music R.I.P the GOAT
Eddie Van Halen was the last 'great guitarist ".No other will ever measure up.
Eddie was a maestro, conquered the guitar played it like no one else , other than Hendrix , played the guitar like a violin a virtuoso , RIP Eddie your so , still, very much missed ; miss that million dollar smile , it hurts.
Only celebrity I've ever shed a tear for, for the reason that you stated. Our era passed away with him.
I think I was 12 when i heard jump and from then on, i was a loyal fan
The King 🤴
There's guitar players and then there's Eddie Van Halen. Enough Said.
I don’t think anyone played with more sheer joy than him.
Agreed,he was good and also Kool to watch
The fact that Eddie was doing this stuff 40 years ago and no one has come along to match it, says all you need to know about his talent. Thanks for this awesome video!
Check out Jason Becker....EVH was like nothing else in the '70's, but Jason KICKED what Eddie had found to a new level.
If you see Eddie playing anything other than the black and white Strat copy, you missed the show!!
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 I follow Jason and his projects. Eddie even stopped and saw him and gave him a guitar. Jason was incredible. Makes me wonder, if he didn't get I'll, where he would be now
Amen brother!
Another thing that amazes me is that he was only a kid at 22 when he recorded the VH debut album.
@@KJz1 Truth! He just had the gift, he was a natural. That and the fact that he was all about his music and spent all his waking time concentrating on it. He would have been great with just one of these, but when you put both of them together you get something special
In 1977 I walked into the house to find my Mom laying on the couch crying which scared the shit out of me. I ran to her and asked what was wrong. She said Elvis Presley just died and I was like, oh... ok. When Eddie passed last year, I understood her tears and shed my own.
EVH was the Elvis Presley & Michael Jackson of guitar
In 1982, I had tickets to see Ozzy Osbourne. but more importantly Randy Rhoads. the plane crash was 3 weeks before the show & my friends & i were devastated
@@mxr122669 I live about 20 miles from where that crash happened. And I've been to the little airport too. It's a small, isolated place that bands fly into and catch a tour bus to wherever the venue is.
He is the hands down greatest rhythm guitar player in the history of Hard Rock
Shit he's both Chu mean lol 🤣
second behind malcom young from AC/DC
Eddie played the guitar as if it was actually a part of him, such a fantastic and natural master of the instrument, we are so lucky to have heard and seen the magic.
RIP Eddie, we are still loving the sounds and images.
Unbelievable that it’s been a year already. I still feel the void. Thank you for everything King Edward.
Yeah,I can't believe he's gone.
I was fortunate to see VH six times Fuckin A
Greatest guitarist.
Greatest smile.
Kid in a candy shop.
Kid with the lot.
BEST SMILE EVER. It was quite literally part of the sound.
My daughter was born 23 days after Eddie passed and we named her Haelyn ❤️ she is such a wild amazing crazy free spirit too! Proud every time to tell people who we named her after 😍
We were fortunate to live during a time that a true legend flourished.
Our Beethoven.
RIP EVH
We are all blessed to have witnessed this legend in our lifetime. EVH forever!
I completely agree! I was actually listening to the Roth era records last night in order and thinking how awesome it is to be alive in the same moment in time as EVH. Thank you Eddie!
Wonderful memories from all the VH concerts that I attended from DLR years to Sammy and great music that they created. ROCK ON
YES WE ARE!! THE 80'S WERE THE BEST!!!! HE IS THE BEST GUITARIST THE WORLD WILL EVER HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!! 😎😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@t.sewell1513 It Was AWESOME TO BE IN THAT ERA!! I WAS IT WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!! FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS EDDIE VAN HALEN!!! 😎😎😎🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hard not to get teary eyed watching this....Eddie was and will continue to inspire for decades to come. Van Halen I, II and fair warning got me thru my teens and 35 years later, there isnt a day that goes by that im not listening to some kind of VH. I miss you Eddie, but your music lives on, perhaps louder than ever.
Ri.p. Go on up there like you did here
Alex is the most underrated drummmer to date..
1 gazillion times I AGREE!! 😢
Agree. Lot of talent in that family❤
So post on an ALEX thread. Can't find one? Hmmm....lol
Nuff said. They ALL rode Eddie's coat-tails. If you don't already know that, get a clue is all I can tell ya . It would be Van what? VAN who? Without Eddie. Trust and believe that..
The unsung piece of the action ➡️ Alex.
I read in an interview where the guy asked Edward why he smiles so much on stage and Ed says " because when I'm on stage playing, no record companies can fuck with me up there", well I guess that can't fuck with him where he is now. Edward you rest any damn way you want to, you earned that many times over 😭
My first guitar/ rock hero!!! thanx for helping me survive my teenage years.. Van Halen was a bright light in some dark times, I fell in love with rock music because of these guys! I was always a different type of blaqk girl, the misfit- outcast... this music helped me through it all...eternally grateful!❤
I hear ya, girl...!!!
Finally a fitting EVH tribute!!! He embodied the guitar god and was such a huge part of my youth. I cried the day he passed and still get teary eyed when I hear a VH song. He was a one in a million talent and he belonged to my generation ❤️
Well said, simply perfect. 👍
He was our generation!!!
His solo on Summer Nights from Live Without a Net is an explosion of feel, power, technical prowess and soul.
5150 is also amazing from that concert
I think that solo of "Jump"is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!🎸
🤘
Hendrix passed away before I was born. I was very young when Terry Kath passed away, too young to appreciate his talent at the time. Van Halen was my teen years. Being in music since I was in 5 th grade I can genuinely appreciate his raw talent. I’m so grateful I got to experience his amazing musical abilities in my lifetime. Thank you Eddie and to Wolfgang and his family I’m so sorry he will be missed by millions including me.
I am a bit older but relate to what you say. I was 17 when I saw VH open for Sabbath at a small GA venue. My buddy and I worked our way to around 25' from Eddie (and Tony). I'll never forget that show.
Terry Kath had such a great voice. I love Make Me Smile. You've heard of Rick Beato right? His what makes this song great - Chicago episode is a great video to check even if you don't play. It's Make Me Smile and he isolates Terry's voice...wow. It's worth searching out. Another great one he does is for Boston More than a Feeling
Sorry to ramble on
ON THIS DAY, OCTOBER 6, 2020, ONE OF OUR MOST BELOVED MUSICIANS LEFT US, LEAVING US AN IMMENSE VOID THAT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO REPLACE, WITH HIS CHARISMATIC PERSONALITY AND BRILLIANT GENIUSNESS WITH THE GUITAR, WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU EDDIE!!!
He could make that guitar scream & could rock the house down!!
A man who not only achieved the pinnacle of technical excellence and virtuosity in his art but attacked his music, life itself, with such joy! You're forever missed, Eddie.
I saw Van Halen in concert 2x - once w/ DLR, once w/ Sammy. Great. Actually, I was there to see Eddie. We all were...
The most amazing guitarist, musician and friend ever. RIP Ed.
I met Eddie in Shreveport Louisiana. He was a very nice person to our band and partied with us all night. He bought speakers for our PA system which was an amazing and very generous thing nobody asked him to do.
How I feel about blackmore Gary Moore jimi
Ah, I remember working overtime to buy my Dbl Bridge Mother of Pearl Kramer. And to think my Dad introduced me to VH in ?78? 79? The rest is his story. His.story. He and Val were our Royal Couple. Keep it going, Wolf.
Nice bio ~ thank you. I think he was a once in a lifetime Gift.
And with Alex’s *Strength on Dbl’s ?? Daaaang. History may not always repeat itself. ~VH~
@@baneverything5580 when I met them Eddie and his brother looked at no one ,talked to no one. Wasn't impressed with them and their egos. Then Sammy and Micheal show up ,talked laughed treated us nice . They were all coming out of the jet way off the flight
He was the one of a kind original, like no other, R.I.P. Eddie!!!!!
I've seen this man since 1977 till his Bitter End when he came to town it was like Christmas and me getting to watch Santa Claus hand out presents RIP EDDIE. My memories of you and the band will last forever!!!!!! THANK YOU 😊
GOAT...EVH...no one can touch him....EVER❤🙏🎸
100% true
An excellent and very honoring tribute to Edward Van Halen, a guitar legend and musical innovator who inspired, intimidated and influenced millions and millions of guitar players and normal people to wish to play with the passion, skill, love and joy he played with. Rest in peace King Edward and jam loudly in God's choir.
Thank you.
I still can’t watch any tribute without tears in my eyes, I feel like I have a huge hole in my heart.
Was a pleasure to be alive while they were on the radio.
Music required skil back then.
NOT LIKE TODAY.
Awesome tribute to the best undisputed guitar player of our time . When ever you saw Eddie Van Halen either play live or watching him on videos you could tell he loved what he did. Very inspirational! RIP Eddie Van Halen .

God I miss this guy. The sounds of the joy of my youth. I wish he’d have laid off of the cigs so we could have had a white haired Eddie, but I’m grateful for the Eddie we had. Miss you, Man.

Eddie was the greatest technician in guitar playing and no one has ever matched him and I don't believe anyone will
What a miracle to have lived in this time and heard this live.
This man wrote the sound track to my life his music will live on forever. EVH rest in peace 🙏
This tribute was put together so well. Brought a tear to my eye. EVH forever!

I'm tearing up as I'm writing this
@@kinger355 Thanks for the video brother, brought tears to my eyes, new subscriber here 👍🤘
Me too! 😢 Eddie gave his heart into his music and people just felt it was not only music, he was talking through out his instrument using it like an extension of his human being, and that made him so unique 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
And that Was the great EDWARD THE GREAT!!!! CARRIED A GUITAR ALL DAY LONG WAS A GIFTED GUITARIST AN EXPRESSION OF HIS HUMAN BODY! LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!!!WOLFIE HAS IT NOW!!!
This is without a doubt the definitive Edward Van Halen tribute. Eddie playing eruption and I"m The One at that early concert. The speed, the clarity, just pure perfection. Everything about Edward, the way he looked, nobody looked cooler than Ed. His sound, his guitar, the times he played in. Its all there. Nobody will ever match what Edward did. He is the best of the best. Edward has that something that you can't explain. I've watched so many guys play Van Halen on UA-cam, but no matter how good they do it, you can still tell that it's not Edward. Edward has that unique gift and talent that just can't be put into words.
Every time I miss Ed, I watch this video and my eyes get watery. I saw Van Halen twice and I almost quit playing guitar after the first time I saw him on the Van Halen 2 album tour. Its one thing to listen to the record, but to see him doing it live and running and sliding all over the stage and never missing a note! I was shocked at how good he was.
So I keep playing guitar and from time to time, find that spirit that Edward put inside of all of us and try to get even close to what Edward does with a guitar. Thank you so much Ed for all you have given us. And thank you sir, Kinger35, for making this incredible video tribute. Total respect.
I miss Ed so much, I can't even describe. Waiting for the next Van Halen album, but there will be no more. He gave us so much, and I just hope that somebody out there has the respect to release whatever gems are sitting there at 5150. With all the tape boxes in the racks there, there has to be some great stuff. I'm hoping we get to hear it some day.
I'm so lucky I got to see Ed live on the early tour, it was so incredible. Hard to play guitar after that, but ya, incredible. That feeling of seeing Ed, it is still inside of me, it was so powerful. I watch Steve Vai, I love Steve, I watch Jeff Beck, I love him too, but Edward had that something special, so powerful. The strength in his hands, his fingers, just exceptional.
And lastly, I will never forget the day that I heard Ed passed away. Totally unexpected. It hit me, and it hit me hard. I was fucked up for 3 days. I just couldn't believe it. Never saw it coming. And then watching that Mammoth video that wolf did, ya I lost alot of tears watching that. Edward had such a special place in my heart, I had no idea. Was like I lost one of my best friends ever. But I never met him. But he touched me inside, so many many times. The solo on Live without a net. That one really got me. Must have watched that 1000 times or more. Spanish fly, jesus, just incredible, speechless. So good. Ed said years ago it was all about "feeling" and ya, that's true. His playing and composing had feeling all right, and he put that feeling right inside of us in such a powerful way. I just feel so fortunate to have been alive to experience Van Halen and the great Edward Van Halen.
I remember when Fair Warning came out and we rushed to the store to get the cassette tape, and Mean Street was the first track, we all stood there in front of the speakers with our mouths hanging open in utter disbelief that a human was capable of not only creating that song, but the licks were said to be the pinnacle of Eds talent. There will never be another trend setter like EVH. I am honored to be a part of the generation that witnessed his greatness.
Guitar World got it right the greatest of all times innovator/geniuse Rock Royalty
When I watch EVH perform I become so overwhelmed with emotion it almost feels blasphemous. He embodied raw talent and sheer brilliance. Everyone in the original band played a perfect part in what was one of the greatest bands that ever was... or will be.
UK it sista!
I am literally crying right now. Why did he have to die? I guess heaven needed someone to fill in on guitar. Music among the angels just got a little better and a little wilder.
R.I.P. Eddie

GOAT….Hendrix ,VanHalen… goal post for all other players…
Blackmore in his prime the goat. Then Gary Moore jimi hendrix and rik emit Joe satranni
@Life Is Peachy wrong hendrix is worldwide sane with Ritchie and page
Eddie, Page, Hendrix, Townsend, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Blackmore, Robert Johnson, Rhodes, and a few more are the upper echelon players and in a class by themselves….
@Life Is Peachy Chas Chandler of the Animals was the first to really help Jimi and get him to London….Townsend heard him in London and almost gave up the guitar…Hey Joe broke on pirate radio in England before he hit in the States…
@Steve Gregg thank you sir..I was born in 1970 I feel grateful that in my time growing up music was handed down from brothers,Cousins, friends, etc..and we had record stores where we could explore and find artists that we may not have even gone to the store to purchase, but found going through the bins,,,that’s how I found John Mayall and read a quote from Clapton about Robert Johnson so I listened to him and on and on and on..
Love you Eddie, Miss you, will never forget you & your talent that God gave you & you used to it's fullest extent! May your soul RIP
You're not supposed to outlive your heroes. 11 year old me never forgets hearing Eruption for the first time. RIP Ed. Miss you nearly every day.

R.I.P and thank you Ed.
Even though he’s gone and no longer making music, the music we DO have of his will live on forever. I’m so glad I got to see him live..(6 times) 👍🏻👍🏻

Now it's Wolfies turn!
me too, bro. I think many of us are doing that. Also , as a guitarist, all year long, I have been learning all the VH solos I was too afraid of tackling when I was younger.
@@donnswaby369 Me too x 2
I thought I was the only one doing that. There is no music that makes me feel what Van Halen does.
This past year I've sat down and learned many many van Halen songs, I'm in a 80s tribute band now, for the past 2 years, I'm seriesly thinking of making a Van Halen Tribute band.. Eddie Van Halen was the reason I picked up a guitar 33 years ago.. love you Edward Van Halen. Rest in peace.. we miss you. Hopefully Wolfy, will find some of those long lost tapes and release them with Alex .
Same here. My dad was a great player and exposed me to the guitar and music. But it was Eddy who drove me to the instrument and gave that strong desire to learn it. It is not an easy instrument to learn but when you're inspired, it becomes part of your life. That's what he did.
@J Flo I can agree with you. However, what would a great tribute to his dad it would be, if he introduced the next generation of music fans and kids coming up to play guitar, if he released his Dads music and a new star guitar player hears it and goes on to do great things. I'm sure Mr Edward Van Halen would respect that and I also agree with you also
The Atomic Punks when Ralph Sanes (Steel Panther) was in the band, they sounded identical to old VH.
There will never be another Eddie I do believe he was one of a kind. He made that sound that was incredible. We are going to miss you Eddie .I cried my eyes out when he passed. You will be missed by so many. R.I.P Eddie
There will never be another Eddie
Killer tribute to Eddie, he will always be the king to me.
Rush they're political but I like the way they played their guitars but nobody has an Eddie Van Halen nobody can play like he can! The king of the guitar
Eddie Van Halen was the Ronaldinho of guitars
Three guitarists that totally took the electric guitar into sonic territory never ever heard before-or since!...Jimi Hendrix, Edward Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn. They took different, unique paths into their respective domains. Electric guitar playing is on the decline now, because these three genius guitarists simply covered all the sonic territory that can even be imagined. And on top of all that, these three put on a show when doing their thing! And doing so, their time on this planet became limited...as if they somehow had to pay some kind of cosmic dues, in order to accomplish what they did.
I was 19 when the first álbum came out, I knew something new and out of this world was happening. It wasn't only the solos, Eddie's feeling, amazing technique and superb sense of melody blew me away, a true guitar hero. RIP Eddie VH.
I was only 9 at the time but in awe just the same. I brought that album every week to music class in elementary school until our music teacher played it for the class. Shortly after that I got my first guitar.
I was 23 when I heard their first album, at a friend’s, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Eddie was an innovator. Outside of Randy Rhoads, RIP. Back then I had many favorites. RIP Eddie Van Halen. Thank you for putting this together! And posting this! 🌹❤️
San Gabriel valley..... the backyard parties back then were, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 When Females we're Women" 👍👍, & they knew it. Nothing's better than that, & there will never be. The Good Lord, made us 2 by 2. Most Humans knew that back then.
Edward was the greatest rhythm guitar player rock has ever seen. This is overlooked.
One of the best rhythm guys, maybe even the best. Definetly up there with Izzy and Hetfield
If I'm not mistaken, they had to invent a new method to write sheet music in order to accommodate EVH's playing style. How many musicians can lay claim to that!!!
Tears flowing right now. The reason I continued to play guitar in 1978 and beyond. EVH. There will never be anyone like him in our life time.
When Hendrix died Van Halen was born. Only these two have had such a huge and lasting influence on all guitarist the world over. They were cut from the same mold but in a different way, innovation, technique, guitar virtuoso in the highest order. The door has been slammed shut there will never anything like these two again.
100% agreed
No single person has said it better .....EVH FOREVER !
The King of Ten Fingers and Six Strings. He made ten fingers sound like ten hands. RIP King Edward.

I saw Van Halen in 1978............1st concert ever. I was in my high school guitar class when the instructor said we could usher at the concert, and see the concert for free. I arrived and started seating people, when I was awe-stricken as Van Halen started doing their sound check with Jamie's Cryin'. As if the vocal harmonies wasn't enough, it wasn't until I witnessed Eddie doing that very same part of the Eruption solo, that I realized I was witnessing true greatness!
I wept when I saw that part of your video, as that wonderous night from way back in 1978 all came rushing back with fervor. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Thanks for the kind feedback. It was my pleasure.
Always glad to see someone that appreciates Eddie as much as we do. Well done!
RIP EVH! We’re all just getting started missing you!
