Amazing video...born and raised in SoCal but my grandparents are from there and this video took me back to summers I spent there. Some things never change and I wish we could drive on our beaches in Cali like this.
Subscribed!! I love your videos. I love the no frill BS that a lot of youtubers do. I love how you just go and about taking an almost stock 4Runner and just showing how capable it is without all the added heavy stuff that others encourages you to buy.. just the added necessities and you’re good to go.
Great video. I've had my stock SR5 out on the beaches and trails on Hatteras and Ocracoke. It's always a fun adventure. I'll have to explore Corolla some time.
I have driven on all of the places mentioned. Orca coke being my fav but Corolla is pretty cool too. Did you guys bust through the gate and get up into VA?
It’s a fun time. I want to stay at one of the house up there on the beach. Hard to orchestrate something like that. To get enough people to go in. Def in my bucket list
So it's been over two months but we drove the beach down there it was a great trip. No problems in the sand with our 4runner. A guy with a Crosstrek had some troubles though
That’s the only off roading where I could convince my wife to join me i.e. on the beach😂. Say, what towing gear to you pack to get others and yourself out of trouble?
How does it feel driving with the 285’s without having to regear? How does it drive in the highway, city, and mountain passes? I’m just waiting for my 275 to wear out and thinking of going to the 285 next. Any suggestions? Is it worth going up the next size?
I love the way it drives on 285's. No big difference from the 265's I had. Feels just as slow. LOL With the lift/tires/armor my MPG's dropped a little maybe 1-2 on the highway. My speedometer is now 1 mph slower than GPS speed, before it was 1mph higher. I along with the lift and Adjustable UPC's (set above +4.0 degrees caster) I had to remove the front mudflats and move the front inner fender liner forward. I never felt the need to re-gear. It tows my car hauler and a two place Jetski trailer all the time, no issues. It will run still run 115mph on the interstate. :)
Did you just air down to under 20psi and keep in 4H on the beach or were there sections you had to use 4L? Heading there this weekend and was curious to know if I should use 4L at all or just 4H and possibly select sand terrain...
trent thomas probably not even that low maybe 22-24lb. I might have dropped into Low on some of the hills and when pulling people out. It all depends how dry the sand is but if you have decent clearance and 4wd you won’t have any problems.
I have a question I hope you read and can answer... How/where do you access those beautiful trails through the trees and bushes? We’ll be heading that way soon and those are the type of OHV trails I enjoy. I want to enjoy the drive on the beach but would love to see a bit more off the beaten path too.
Awesome vid guys, i have an LX470 and live in Northern VA, would like to make a trip down here and drive on the beach and see the horses. I've built a platform bed in the back of my SUV, do they let you park on the beach and sleep in the vehicle overnight?
On packed sand 4H. On deep sand 4L. I didn’t get stuck there but if I did I’d use crawl control, rear locker, and sand mode. To use those modes you have to be in 4low.
We went there and saw horses on the beach. Where did you find wooded areas there? I saw them at 4:15, 5:09, 6:10, and other points in your video. I thought you were supposed to stay only near the water when offroading.
Trevor Alexander thanks! It was a blast! Yea I washed the entire truck. Including the underside and engine bay. On the hwy I get 17-19 mpg depending on speed. It’s down a 1-2 from when it was stock.
I'm not much for snake ID's ... what type of snake was that? We just came from Corolla and loved driving our Pro on the beach. The truck did great. Crazy how hard it was to find a car wash ...
First time driving the beach today. Almost same condition as yours. there were smells of rubber burning when i didnt deflate my tires. Is this really the cause if it?
@@bperrucci829 Stock tires aired down are actually better than aggressive tires as they tend to dig more. That said, I run a mud terrain/all terrain hybrid and actually ran my F250 in 2wd aired down properly and didn't have any issues the past couple years.
I keep my 4Runner away from salt water beach and sand bars after seeing what happened to the bottom of my brother's 4Runner after his constant use on a salt water beach.. That salt is also in the sand
Lunamaria Yea, but I bet your brother has a lot more fun than you!!!!😂 Seriously if you do a good fresh water flush it’s not a issue. Living in Florida I’m in the sand and launching jets skis all the time and none of my trucks ever had rust issues. But I maintain my rigs.
That is definitely smart to be thorough!.. Anyway, I just said I will keep my 4Runner away from salt water beaches.. She is my newest rig with some rather expensive mods lol.. I have 2 other rigs for that sort of play.. One, a much older FJ Cruiser that I don't mind playing with on the beach, actually seems at home in the sand, to be honest. Lol
I live in a small mountain town in British Columbia that is pretty much all dirt roads that are either snow covered, or washed out and rutted lol so it is ideal to have a secondary vehicle lol because mechanical casualties are a norm haha.. The 4Runner loves this types of road conditions and is my new daily driver as well as my expedition overlanding rig.. Great channel BTW :)
Lunamaria Thanks! Yea I’m really impressed on the 4Runners ability. It’s great in all conditions. Mine hauls cars, Jetski’s and takes my abuse off road. Do they salt the roads up there? That’s really hard on vehicles too. I use to live in Northern Illinois and it was a lot harder to keep the rust away up there.🙁
I really enjoy ALL of your videos👍🙂 ❤️ thank you for not putting annoying music in the background👍👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
I love your adventures. I am currently building my 4Runner. Cant wait to start having my own.
Fan Boy Thanks!! 😉👍
Congrats on your build, have fun out there!

Thanks for the comment. We’ll have to check our Hatteras and Ocracoke!

Legit nothing has change since I was 7 can't wait to come back out here
Super fun place!

Yea we plan to make the trip again!
Great video I have been there myself wheeling it is a great time there.
Steven Lefebvre thanks! I’ll definitely be going back!
@12:10 I've never seen Ocean Pearl Rd that dry. It's usually a watery mess. There's a vid on my profile of what it normally looks like.
JEEPASAUR yea it was bone dry. I could tell by the bypasses it wasn’t usually that way. Cool vids! Hurricane Creek is a great trail!!!!
We will be there in 4 days. Will take our 4runner on the beach too.
Ratttlehed Wish I was going to be back there in 4 days! Lol
Have a fun trip!

I wish I can do this with my 4runner
@@kononsmf6917 You can! :)
Just purchased a 2021 trd off road premium your channel popped up, love the content ...subbed
Thanks and congrats on the new rig!

Such a good video! Is the 4wd beach open most of the year? Would love to take my 4Runner out there
Mark Sum Thanks! 😉👍 I think so? Here is some info on the beach
www.twiddy.com/outer-banks/4x4/beach-driving/
Open all year round must have a parking pass to park on beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day

Thanks!
Probably 4 high most of the time
That looks like a blast!
Thanks! It was!!!

Sure they are inland from the beach just look on your phone satellite view.

Thanks and nice rig! You can park on the beach but I’m not sure if you can stay over night.
love carova area. looks like you were leaving from the hampton/newport news area
Thats was awesome guys!💪
T4rTrail Thanks!😉👍
Are you in 4H when you are driving on the sand? and are you doing craw control/ putting the terrain in sand mode?

Great video! What mods have you done to your 4Runner, and did you air down for the driving on the sand?? thanks
Thanks! 😉👍yes I air down. I have a full mods video here ua-cam.com/video/Zrtd5qsXDbQ/v-deo.html

The whole town is sand roads if you go inland there are some trails here and there.
Great! video
Thanks!
Super 4runner
Beso Baboshvili
Thanks! 😁👍
Looks like a ton of fun. Hoping to take my TRD OR there.
Are you running 285’s?
Thanks! Yes 285’s
Was this performed in 4 wheel high? Or 4 wheel low?
Hard to remember that long ago but most likely high.
Great Videos!
Lloyd & Ling Thanks! 😉👍
Nice! Looks like a lot of fun. Did you wash it out underneath after you went? And what mpg are you getting? Love the 4 runner
Trevor Alexander thanks! It was a blast!
Yea I washed the entire truck. Including the underside and engine bay. On the hwy I get 17-19 mpg depending on speed. It’s down a 1-2 from when it was stock.

Not sure Looks like a small python. Yea that place is a blast. When I got home I did a super deep water crossing Im sure that flushed it out LOL.
@@jimerinrose6235 That snake was a water moccasin/cotton mouth.
You need to go to the beach house
What fun is that.😂
Awesome Vid!What PSI do you run?
Thanks probably 20-23
First time driving the beach today. Almost same condition as yours. there were smells of rubber burning when i didnt deflate my tires. Is this really the cause if it?
Maybe if your wheels were spinning in the sand.
Did you air down the tires? If so what psi?
Yes 20lbs
Is your 4Runner lifted and what tires are you running? I’m going down in August and have a 2018 TRD off road also and want to do some sand riding.
Brady Perrucci Yes 3inch OME lift and 285/70/17 BFG KO2’s tires. You should be fine stock just run 20psi and you’ll be good to go!😉👍
You think the stock tires will run in the sand also ?
Brady Perrucci Absolutely, 20 psi in the tires and use the shifter to keep your revs up when you’re in the deep stuff.
Perfect thank you for the advice! We don’t want to get wild just ride along the beach!
@@bperrucci829 Stock tires aired down are actually better than aggressive tires as they tend to dig more. That said, I run a mud terrain/all terrain hybrid and actually ran my F250 in 2wd aired down properly and didn't have any issues the past couple years.
Suuuper suuuper
Good times
Try Four Lo Thanks! 😉👍
what psi would i do for my tires and where can you put air back into your tires??
20-24lb I brought a compressor but there were a couple gas stations near by.
What kind AND size tires where you running???
BFG K02’s 285/70/17
Do u yave lift on this truck?
Is this 4runner lifted?
Yarl Wise Yes, 3inch lift and 285/70/17 tires
