Is it stock?... I just recieved my 2020 4Runner TRD Pro 3 days ago and already had her up the highest rated trail in my town and she dominated it.. I was worried about front independent suspension, but the TRD Pro absolutely crushed the trail lol.. My best friend has a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro and got me into overlanding camping and off road exploring.. Best vehicle on the market!!
That KDSS is something special. I am sure the lift did help and also having the 285's BFG. I got my 2019 Off-Road Premium model a few months ago and really want to learn how to use this beast. I am sure you used the crawl control mode and some occasions especially going up and down those rocks. Simply amazing! Well done!
Alex Polidoro Thanks!! 😉👍 Congrats on the new truck! Absolutely Love mine! I don’t have KDSS and hardly use the crawl control. Once you get a feel for the truck it’s crazy capable even without the nannies. The rear locker is my favorite feature. The stock shocks without KDSS were too soft. Once I installed OME shocks with the lift the ride drastically improved.
@@jimerinrose6235 I am up in Canada so I hope to get to use this more often now. I even changed the passenger seat with a Turny Evo for my dad so that I can take him with me for drives and he recently passed away. Really heart broken but it is life I guess. It was a sad experience but he is resting in peace now. In essence, you unlock the rear locker so that all wheels work independently correct ? To add the 285's I will certainly have to do a lift if I want to take that route indeed. But you got my pumpin' for the adventure mode in my heart right now. What you were able to accomplish was insane! Is there any written material to read about on how to use all these features ? I guess the best would simply to just hit the trails and experiment until I become a champ like you Jim! Well done!
Alex Polidoro Really sorry to hear about your dad. Sounds like you had a great relationship and that’s eternal! Off-roading is so much fun. If you got the bug there’s no cure!😂 Once in low gear the rear locker button locks the rear wheels so they spin together at the same speed. It allows the truck to crawl up obstacles without the rear end opening up and causing one wheel to just spin by itself. It should not be used on pavement. The a-trac button uses the traction control to stop wheel spin in a wheel that has no traction so the opposite wheel can use its traction. Terrain select allow the traction control to understand what kind of surface it’s dealing with. To be honest I really don’t notice it working any better than A-Trac by itself. Crawl control let’s the truck do everything just pick your speed and steer. No need to touch the gas or brake it does it all and kinda takes the fun away lol. Best way is to learn is to play with them off -road. Should be a ton of cool places in Canada. It’s going to be one of our future trips. Thanks again! 😉👍
Jim/Erin Rose Thanks Jim for the kind words. I was his full time caregiver for 9 years so it was a very strong relationship indeed. Too many health issues but we managed pretty well as a team. Great! I got some solid tips and will get this beast moving in low gear! 🤝😇🙏 Be well and I will keep following your lead.👍👊✌️
Those driving skills tho. A good driver along with the 4Runner can go just about anywhere. Unlike guys like Roman from TFL who yell “IM STUCK!!” after one tiny wheel spin. He reviews the 4Runner and doesn’t use any of its technology and didn’t even lock the locker and said the 4Runner failed in one of his videos and the hill wasn’t even anything technical. If you really want a real world review on the 4Runner just watch and listen to guys like this guy.
Lol Yea I have 100% confidence in these rigs. Crazy capable and still dependable. The Rear locker and Atrac are my favorite features. I use them the most. Thanks for the nice comment. 😉👍
Well done. LImited mods and let the ulitlity and capability of the truck speak for itself. That is some driving. I've got the same T4R ORP in black. They are beyond capable. Thanks for sharing

Those stairs at 2:35 gave me a laugh. "Whoa!" In the 4Runner's 3rd year you should make some more trips to the mountain passes. It'd be great to see this traveling Colorado. Maybe Whipsaw in British Columbia?

We have yet to concern if it’s for me or the 4Runner. 😂 Funny you should mention Colorado, we are going there next summer!😁 We have a video on our channel of Imogene pass Colorado. No spotter? Are you kidding me? And you've got to have more stickers than that. It looks like you've been to a hundred places. You had me on the edge of my seat many times that was awesome thanks for putting this up. Oh nice camera work did the water scenes 'get ya'? Very enjoyable.
I don’t need a spotter the truck tells me if I picked the wrong line.😂 I do have a lot more stickers but they keep blowing off on the highway lol. Most of the Mud hole shots I used a tripod. Erin gets mad when I get her muddy.😬 Thanks for the nice comments. 😉👍
@@jimerinrose6235 I would be all over a video that talks about how the truck tells you if you picked the wrong line without a spotter. Oh and I was feeling sorry for Erin when that mud splat hit the camera. LOL The tripod will keep peace in the family.
It looks like the owners of the truck take it far from home to do some tough trails, but stay in hotels along the way. I don't mean that as a criticism at all, but I think it helps explain why the truck does so well - it's light. No roof top tent, no heavy drawer system (I'm guessing), no winch, no steel bumpers with swingouts, no jerry cans, etc. So, it's really a day trip vehicle, with just a couple of duffle bags and probably a cooler with lunch in it. That's a great way to keep things light, keep the wife happy (hotel/restaurant/jacuzzi rather than tent/camp stove/cold sleeping bag). It's just a different way to travel. Many of the rigs on UA-cam are overbuilt/Overland rigs with well over a thousand pounds of gear bolted on and thrown in. That weight dramatically changes how a rig drives, how it handles obstacles, and how top heavy (and tippy) it is. So, cheers to the owners and their sense of adventure. It's a reminder to all of us that if we keep things light we can do more, and do it more safely.
Absolutely correct!!! We carry food, basic tools/recovery gear. We rent a house/cabin in the location we are going. Lol the last one in Colorado did have a indoor hot tub. If you search there are some deals $150-$200 a night for a really nice place. Most of the trips we drive straight through non-stop. We fold the back seat down and put a blow up bed in the back and one of us sleeps when the other is drivin. Light and simple! Thanks for the comment!
Loved your video I had a 4 runner in the silver sky metallic and we drove it everywhere when the kids were little sold it with a ton of miles and memories behind the wheel. I now drive a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road love the truck and look forward to maybe getting another 4 runner someday.

Thanks again for posting up these compilations. I’ve subscribed and am enjoying the journey through your videos. This is the most I’ve seen the Runner pushed and it’s been an absolute blast seeing what you can do with minimum mods. I’ve even shared these videos with my Jeep friends who of course think that Jeeps are the only vehicle made for this stuff. It’s been fun proving them wrong! Haha.
B Marino Yes, I agree 100% on the snorkel!! But making that first hole in the fender is tough! 😂
Thanks again for the nice comments!
Thought the video was gonna end around the 9:51 mark...good job!
I bought a 2020 “Venture” edition and will have to wait until I get my first parking lot door ding before I tackle the back country. Good driving buddy!
wolfeyez300 Thanks Really appreciate it!!! 😉👍 Congrats on the new rig. It’s so much better once they are broken in😂
Thanks for sharing 🤝, the 4runner is definitely the reliable wrangler option
Thank you! Spot on comment.
Wow, I decided to buy a 4Runner TRD .. I was looking for videos that talked about the ability of this car and watch a lot of it ... but this video shortened a lot of words ... Thank you, sir, for this great experience. It was the biggest guide However, this car is great
Thank You! You won't be disappointed!!! The 5th Gen 4runner TRD is a simple, reliable, tough as nails, do everything Off-Road vehicle. I've owned them all Jeeps, Land cruisers, Bronco's, Blazers, Hummer's and 5th Gen 4runner TRD is really the goldilocks of them all, It's just right!
Bro, i've been looking for a vídeo that shows me the off-road capability of a 4Runner and this is it! It's an amazing video and amazing SUV, a REAL SUV!!
Irving de Jesus Contreras Espinoza Thanks really appreciate it!
This video was relaxing. nice to see the TRD off road with functional mods just shining on those trails.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!😉👍
Is it stock?...
I just got my army green runner I'm so excited
bro , 4runner is an apocalypse vehicle
Hassan DMW perfect description lol.
You do everything I wanna do in my 4Runner !
Nerve-wracking! It’s more than the pathfinder or the trailblazers. Incredible video. I can’t wait to pick-up mine. Thanks Sir. ✅👍
Thanks enjoy the new rig!
Congrats on the new truck!
If you got the bug there’s no cure!😂
Once in low gear the rear locker button locks the rear wheels so they spin together at the same speed.
Be well and I will keep following your lead.👍👊✌️
Jim/Erin Rose That’s a good and simple explanation of the different control modes for the 4Runner - in fact, explains it quite well.
So much better than a Jeep.
Well done. LImited mods and let the ulitlity and capability of the truck speak for itself. That is some driving. I've got the same T4R ORP in black. They are beyond capable. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much! Great rigs!!!
I’ve rewatched this video and the BBP 3x today! Can’t get enough!
Lol glad you like them!!! 😎👍
I have am 03 discovery that I love, but I've always had a soft spot for 4 runners as well. Nice rig. Love how its not overdone and has it where it counts. Very nice build sir. Very well done on the video too. No nonsense with music etc. Just a 4 runner doing some pretty challenging obstacles. Love how you can hear everything. Really makes it feel like I'm there watching! Wish more 4wd videos were like this.
Thanks you so much for the nice complement.
I off-road my 2016 as well, but this video gave me anxiety, I had many off balance moments like in the video, but I never handled them as calmly lol. Good to see our trucks in action, that IFS front needs to flex more. Great driving!
Thanks really really appreciate it😉👍
This driver would climb up rocks even with Mazda3. Very professional.
😂 Thanks!
One very lightly used by a little old lady from Pasadena CA...... never been taken off road.... maintenance done regularly... just a little gem
I like your vids, no talking no b****, just offroad good job.
Lucky You Thanks man!😉👍
Holly Molly...mind blowing 🤯.
Thanks!
I have a 2017 FJ Cruiser, but never off road like this. Thumbs up 👍
Thanks! Nice rig, FJ’s are awesome!! Don’t think they made them in 2017 though 😂
@@jimerinrose6235 Sorry, 2007
You are SICK! I never get tired of watching this video. I’ve shared with so many too.
Huge Props to you Jim! 👍
Your are definitely da MAN!
Thank you so much! 😊really appreciate the comment!
13 dislikes from Jeep owners
George Gizza 😂 That’s the truth!
Jeeps are for women.
Naw. I’m a Jeep guy and this is a solid video
Both equal vehicles
Right! Lol
This makes wanna buy a 4runner
True off road legend! To have this kind of vehicle is dream for me! Thank you for content!
My pleasure, glad you liked it.
Not bad. No goofy mods.. just wheeling. Good stuff.
Thank you!!
Such a refreshing video of a smartly modified 4Runner doing what it designed to do vs a over-weighted, rolling parts catalog. Thanks! Liked & Sub!
ThaiXLe Thanks really appreciate the comment!!!!😉👍
Many years later when u sell it...
“Adult driven, never abused. Garage queen. Never even used the 4x4 in it before”
Wonderful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ off-road vehicle and Your Driving
Thank you!😉👍
I totally agree with that!! I love the 4runner!!
wow, this is the best RAW off road video I have watched!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! 😉👍
You and your 4Runner are amazing I love the variety of trails that you travel, so many levels of technical abilities I wish I can be traveling with you I have a 4Runner 97 , would you please describe your vehicle a little bit it’s unstoppable you are a very good driver too congratulations in your adventure
Thank you! I have a full mods video on my channel ua-cam.com/video/Zrtd5qsXDbQ/v-deo.htmlsi=5bPqHbAqZcqw_NA6
And I have a 150k review also ua-cam.com/video/elI5yQjVDKQ/v-deo.htmlsi=cZp2UcF8GBtMDjwO
Thanks again!
very cool
now i know my 4 runner can do
Thanks! 😉👍
Unbelievable possibilities of 4runner and surely driver's experience amazing!
Thanks again for the nice comment .
Those stairs at 2:35 gave me a laugh. "Whoa!" In the 4Runner's 3rd year you should make some more trips to the mountain passes. It'd be great to see this traveling Colorado. Maybe Whipsaw in British Columbia?
andrew wat
I always love hearing her sighs of concern! We have yet to concern if it’s for me or the 4Runner. 😂 Funny you should mention Colorado, we are going there next summer!😁
We have a video on our channel of Imogene pass Colorado. We did it on the way home from Moab and had such a good time there we decided that area was going to be our next trip. We also have future plans for Canada and Alaska. Thanks for the Comment!😉👍
@@jimerinrose6235 Reach out to the 4 Wheel Drive Association of BC prior to coming through, they might have runs set up along the lower mainland that you could join in on for a day or two as a guest.
andrew wat Thanks!!👌
Freaking awesome he’s using stock rims! Love it!
Thanks!😉👍
Haha this is great ! Totally crazy what you do to that thing and it takes it. That’s why we love Toyota
Krassimir Petrov Thanks! 😉👍
Absolutely killed it! Well done man.
Thanks! Really appreciate it!!!
LOL The tripod will keep peace in the family.
breeze787 LMAO 😂
Of all 4Runner off-roading videos I enjoy yours the most. Straight to the point and let the vehicle do the talking. What have you done to it?
Hamo_Cyde Thanks so much!! We really enjoy making them. I have the complete list of mods in this video’s description.
Thanks again! 😉👍
Jim, you are good seat of the pants feel driver! You know what your wheels are doing all the time.
Thanks! Really appreciate the comment.
Awesome video. My favorite Toyota's are tundra, 4runner, Tacoma, supra, and mr2.
Thanks! Not a bad one in that group!!! I’ve had a few built Supra’s they are bad ass!!!
Impressive!
Thank you!
Superb off road video footage without any annoying music☺️👍 Nice 4 Runner.
Thanks! 😉👍
Awesome footage....I got a TRD ORP and will use it well. Amazing what the sucka can do!
Thanks! Yea, they are crazy capable.
4runer 4life.. what a beast!!
Thanks! 😉👍
They are both great rigs!
Diggin the snorkel!
Zac C Thanks man! Me too!😜
Wow my respect for the runer
I love
