INXS were considered new wave in the same category as U2. They were great and the singer passed away decades ago in a hotel room His name was Michael Hutchins.

INXS was one of the Biggest Australian rock bands ever. Check out their live in Wembley show its on youtube start to finish. Not just one of their best shows, One of the best Live rock performances ever recorded. My old man tells a story about being at the Star Hotel in Newcastle in the late 70s seeing Midnight Oil - another Aussie rock band worth checking out, and their lead singer comes out on stage early in the night by himself. The crowd blow up thinking they are cancelling their show but he says Sorry i know we usually have a local band support us but we found these guys down in sydney and thought you would like them. Out comes a 17YO Michael Hutchence and procedes to blow everyone away
This brought back memories. The Star Hotel was in Newcastle NSW and when they closed it down there was a riot in Hunter Street that shut the town down. Cheers to your Dad mate, I was there too. I 1st saw INXS in a small pub in Cessnock, LoL.
INXS "NEED YOU TONIGHT- MEDIATE" (combo video of BOTH of these songs back to back is a MUST. Don't do the one without Mediate combined. It's truly meant to be listened to one phasing into the other). It's sooo good!!! 🔥🔥🔥
You sir, have discovered one, if not the finest, most internationally successful Australian bands of all time. I was a young woman at the time of their rising and peak. Their music is intrigal to my youth and there is not one single song they've released that doesn't rock. I hope you dive deeply into their work. You so won't regret it. Enjoy 😉 🇦🇺
"Why haven't I heard this before?" It's the Australian music industry. The 1970's and 80's was filled with stunning Aussie bands and an awesome live music scene, second to none. Cheers from Sydney, AU

I was a fan from the beginning of the 80's, and had all their albums , on vinyl, at one stage ( from Shaboo Shabbah up until KICK). I was devastated when I heard Michael had died! Personally, I love the fact that you go into songs like this completely blind. That way you're not tainted by any expectations or misconceptions because of something you might have read. Plus the fact that you then go back and look up details about the song/group when you like what you hear. That's what I want from a reaction, for what it's worth. Great job! Definitely more INXS ... "New Sensation" would be great, but there are plenty of good choices.
INXS (in Exess) was a great Australian rock band in the 90s. The songs are absolutely timeless and I still listen to them now. Unfortunately, the singer Michael Hutchance died far too young in 1997. The band broke up in 2012. But their music lives on ❤

My dad took me to Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard in LA for my 16th birthday in 1989. I got two records: Debbie Gibson's Out of the Blue, and Inxs' Kick, which features this song. I have always been madly in love with Michael Hutchence. Inxs (in excess) is an Australian rock band comprised of the Farris brothers and their friends. One of my favs. My claim to fame is that Michael Hutchence fell off the stage ( on purpose) at the Overflow pub in Perth in 1984, (I was 19 at the time) on top of me, I wrapped my arms around him and didn't want to let go, then I saw the panic in his eyes so I helped him back up 😅
I saw them live twice before they became the biggest band in the world and they were mind blowing even back then. You just knew they were a juggernaut. These days, my Aussie Rules football team plays this song at the beginning of each home game. The whole stadium sings along and it's breath taking.

INXS crossed through several genres of rock..... POP, New Wave/Post-Punk, Dance, Alternative.... My opinion they were way ahead of their time. Often lumped in with the A-ha era synth-rock bands of the 80s and 90s but not really synth-rock..... As comments pointed out below Australian rock band making it big in the 80s... Their music videos where top notch along with their music.... Great Band.

In-x-s super popular rock pop 80s from Australia. Sadly we lost Michael Hutchence in 1997 😢. The had a show Rock Star INXS early 2000s (on UA-cam) competition to get a new lead singer. Michael was one of a kind! Ray Manzerek of the doors said he so much like Jim Morrison!
Oh my goodness! I LOVED INXS ( In Excess ) in my teens! My boyfriend went to Australia for a holiday and came back with the 'Kicks' album by them. He and i were both OBSESSED with them. Played that tape (yes, im old😂) til it practically wore out. Wow, brought back great memories. I always felt apart from other girls in my school. They were all into Wham, Durran Durran, or Spandau Ballet. Nothing against those bands, some great tunes. But INXS just hit differently. It was only years later when they released ' Need you tonight' that everyone here in the UK seemed to wake up and notice them. I felt so smug 🙊😂 What a truly charasmatic man Michael Hutchence was. Sadly missed 😢 The whole band were SO talented though. Thanks for doing this reaction. So glad you liked it. Hope you check out more. ❤ X
I miss Michael Hutchence and INXS (in-excess). The voice, the passion, the presence, the hits! INXS are one of the greatest bands to come out of Oz and I was so fortunate to have grown up listening to their hits 🎶
In Excess....With legendary frontman Michael Hutchence. This song was from their MASSIVE hit record Kick...1987. The biggest ever band to come from Oz.
Don't feel bad I've heard this a million times as a teenager and I haven't in many years. This time it gave me chills lol. It is really amazing how you appreciate things as you get older . Glad you got to enjoy it. It's never too late.
Like too many classic 80s bands, these guys were amazing...There will never be another Michael Hutchence. In a weird but very right way, he always reminded me of Chris Cornell--if someone could bottle and sell what both of those guys had, they'd make billions. You should check out Beautiful Girl or Need You Tonight by these guys. EVERYTHING they did was fire.
One of the greatest rock bands ever. Never get the recognition they deserve. Check out their live perfomance "New Sensation" at Wembly think it was 1991. Just watch the crowd. Never seen anyhting like it before. R.I.P Michael Hutchence
it is pronounced in excess and they were popular from the late 80's to early 90's until lead singer Michael Hutchence passed away from a drug overdose. I probably committed about 5 moving violations to follow their tour bus to their hotel and got to hang with the band. Such gentlemen and so talented!
I'm thrilled that you have finally found INXS (In Excess)! One of my personal favorites. Please do a deep dive. Why do you reactors always worry about what genre??? Does it really matter?
The name INXS sounds like in excess. I am always a bit stunned when people don't know so many of these iconic songs but I think that has to do with a world we live in where music is spoon fed to us based on our likes. We grew up at a time when we had no choice but to listen to the radio and what our parents listened to so we knew their music, our grandparents music, our older siblings music etc. Radio played A-sides of albums, but also took liberties and played B-sides of albums of songs that may not be pushed out by the record company. But it is a good thing you and many others find it. INXS has a ton of music. Keep going down this rabbit hole. Check out - "Don't Change", "Devil Inside", "What You Need", "Beautiful girl". So many more.
I first saw inxs live at the jump club in Melbourne neither of us were old enough to be in a pub lol I think they were about 17 and I was about 16. I still remember that gig so clearly… ahh the Aussie pub band scene .. pure musical magic!!! I never get sick of hearing their music ❤
INXS was a pretty special band. I love this song but my heart lies with the earlier stuff... especially the rocker Don't Change. Thanks for the reaction.
They played US Festival in 1983 and that is worth finding and watching. No one knew them in North America, yet, and they played their asses off. They are a band that were as good live as they were recorded.
I first saw INXS a band from Sydney, Australia in 1983 or 1984 at a small, dive club in West L.A. I knew immediately they would be huge and considered myself fortunate to see them up close and personal. I had been familiar with their music, and I believe they created their own genre of "dance rock". Kirk Pengilly is the their saxophone player. Michael Hutchence was lead singer and lyricist. The other main lyricist is Andrew Fariss one of 3 brothers, Tim and Jon who were part of the band. Gary Gary Beers played drums. I have all their recordings, and there was not one bad song. Sadly, Michael Hutchence passed away.
Probably a type, but Gary played bass.. Jon the youngest brother played drums. But yeah love them, still my fav band. I wasn't old enough to see them in 83, that must have been cool.. But went to the kick concert in 87. then again more recently at one of those winery concerts in Australia, when JD Fortune was singing for them.
Just joined your channel and subbed after seeing your Midnight Oil Reaction. I worked with INXS I was a part of the Management team, Michael wrote this about the bond that is strong between 2 people, at the time he was dating Helena Christensen. This song was played as the the remaining members of the band carried Michael's coffin from the Church. Made me cry seeing your reaction. Many thanks for bringing back incredible memories

Mate, cannot believe you have never heard of INXS, one of the greatest Australian bands ever.
Second only to Cold Chisel!!
RIP Michael, left this world too soon. 😢🪽🪽❤
Thank you for keeping his music alive.
Much, much, much more INXS. Please
Oh my goodness!
I LOVED INXS
( In Excess ) in my teens!
I felt so smug 🙊😂
What a truly charasmatic man Michael Hutchence was. Sadly missed 😢
The whole band were SO talented though.
Thanks for doing this reaction. So glad you liked it. Hope you check out more. ❤ X
I sang this to my girl at our wedding. 😊
Our MC rocked the sax live too.
I miss Michael Hutchence and INXS (in-excess). The voice, the passion, the presence, the hits! INXS are one of the greatest bands to come out of Oz and I was so fortunate to have grown up listening to their hits 🎶
My fave tune by INXS is Mystify, it’s a great video.
One of my favourites too 🎉
In Excess....With legendary frontman Michael Hutchence.
Lol, I'm Australian and I grew up with this band. I remember when they were introduced on Countdown as an "up and coming" band.
I turn 59 this year.
One of the greatest rock bands ever. Never get the recognition they deserve. Check out their live perfomance "New Sensation" at Wembly think it was 1991. Just watch the crowd. Never seen anyhting like it before. R.I.P Michael Hutchence
Welcome to Aussie pub rock, you will like it here. Try Midnight Oil singing "Beds are burning" or the Choirboys singing "Run to paradise" next 🇭🇲
it is pronounced in excess and they were popular from the late 80's to early 90's until lead singer Michael Hutchence passed away from a drug overdose.
They were their own genre!
The opening bars of this song sends me to immediate tears. Miss you Michael. #OzRock
INXS are absolutely the best such an iconic Aussie band. Michael is one of the best vocalist
Rest in peace to his beautiful soul ❤️
You should check out more of INXS its really worth it. Im very proud of our Aussie bands. You should give more Australian music a listen.
One of the greatest the 80’s had to offer!
INXS was a pretty special band. I love this song but my heart lies with the earlier stuff... especially the rocker Don't Change. Thanks for the reaction.
Go down the Michael Hutchence rabbit hole please. He is a great singer. Rooms for the Memories is fire.👍💕🦇
Agree
My first concert was INXS on the Kick tour. Never Tear Us apart was incredible live. To this day I still get goosebumps when I hear it.
They played US Festival in 1983 and that is worth finding and watching. No one knew them in North America, yet, and they played their asses off. They are a band that were as good live as they were recorded.
You really need to listen to the Live show in Wembley from 1991. Perfection from start to finish!
Jon Fariss was the drummer, not Gary.
@@pagemeredith4532 my bad. While I was writing, the police were chasing someone who came into my yard, I lost my train of thought.
'Need You Tonight' please. Michael was incomparable ❤
I saw them in Sydney in 1986, they were awesome. Michael was so hot! What a loss the day the world lost him!
