John is a legend in Australia. Most of his songs have great messages of unity, solidarity and fighting for the underdog. He is known as the Voice in Aus. Not just because his voice is instantly recognisable, but he has a powerful, pitch perfect voice with a huge range. He is an absolute icon here and is THE most.loved entertainer in Aussie history. He started with a number one hit as a teenager in 1967 which was the biggest hit ofnthe 60's decade...and he has has number one hits in every decade since then. Not just a musician and singer but also a bit of a commedian, an actor, mentor to other artists, humanitarian, philanthropist yet still just as humble as your average boy next door Ps. John Farnham alsk does the est ever cover of ACDC's It's a Long Way to the Top Pps. John is British Born Australian. He has also received the highest honours of Australian of the Year and also athe Order Of Australia medal...on top of decades of music industry awards and a chart busting award winning documentary about his life recently released.
First off…John is an Aussie icon…he has has been on our charts through the decades from the ‘60’s to the 90’s. Absolutely one rule for reacting to our John….live, always live!!!! The recordings are okay but his live shows are where the magic is. The concert John did with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is pretty much his penultimate concert and any track whatsoever from that concert is phenomenal…with “Help” and “You’re The Voice” being the two showstoppers. John is a people person and connects to his audiences, therefore, if the audience reacts, John will react back and make every single live performance epic…without any really conscious decision on his part..it’s just natural. ❤ Although I’d been a “Johnny” fan all my life (he has been an Aussie artist since the ‘60’s), when this song came out in 1986 when I was 15, I was 100% sure it would be a song that resounded through the years and would never be forgotten…now, 38 years later I still believe the same!!! ❤ This is not just a song about standing up against war but also about standing up against domestic violence, against stereotyping and demeaning individuals for their lifestyle choices (i.e. sexuality, how they live their personal lives etc,), but also about unity….
The bagpipes are in this song because John is a massive, massive fan of AC/DC, and he covers 'Long Way To The Top'. In fact, in at least one live performance of this song, the bagpipes enter with the AC/DC solo before breaking into this solo. Rambo is Brett Garsed, played with John for a long, long time.
@@malcolmrayner3480 yeah. No. They’re in because John wanted them in. They weren’t in the original demo, the writers were all English born and you don’t actually know what you’re taking about, and every word you said was wrong.
I grew up in the 80s in Australia and John was king in Aussie music. I remember in the early 2000,s he did a farewell concert and i walked up closer to the stage and looked up at him, he was singing and came over and leant down during the song break and took my hand and said “hello beautiful” and gave me a beautiful smile. It was such a lovely moment as i grew up with his music and he was genuinely lovely. I will always treasure that moment. Listen to all of his music, he is incredible. Take the pressure down is so good too.
An Aussie here. Just loved your response to our legendary and beloved John. He is truly an exquisite singer and has had a massive career. Please watch his live performance of You’re the Voice and also Help, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Incredible 🎉
you should see John's live version of ACDC's 'Long way to the top' with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. At the same concert, he also does an epic version of The Beatles 'Help'. Also, seeing John perform 'You're the voice' live at the same concert is a must; He is fantastic with the crowd and you will be amazed at his mic stand antics. John Farnham is a massive rabbit hole to go down with decades of hits. Hugs from Oz.
He is like the best Australian singer ever! Even Celine Deon praised him on his voice. He did hit those notes, every day and one of the best entertainers to see in a concert live too, awesome charisma and great person in general! John, you’re tha bomb mate!! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi thanks for being a legend!
I don’t think there’s ever been another male singer come close to him! His range, power, tone… everything is perfect and beyond what most could ever even dream of
He is a much loved and iconic Australian singer who not only has a fantastic voice but an extraordinary capacity to engage an audience. He performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - if you want a treat check out him singing Help (and this song) at this concert. It is special.
It’s so cool when overseas peeps love The Voice. In Celine Dion’s doco she talks highly about John Farnham. I’ve also heard a great a cappella group from the US called Naturally 7 do a cover of this song once because they loved it so much. This song is epic. John Farnham can siiiing! He’s a legend and us Aussies are proud he’s ours!
A lot of people will tell you to hit his cover of, Help! by The Beatles LIVE with the Melbourne Orchestra; and I wholeheartedly agree. BUT, you should check The Beatles version first so you get the full impact of what he did with it. 🔥🔥
John started his career in the late 60's as a teenager in Melbourne, Australia. Many other international artists have said that John is one of the best vocalists in the world. He did for a short time venture into the waters of America but he is huge on family and decided to forgo fame and fortune and put his family first. He is a beautiful person, very humble has performed with many of the greats around the world. He is Australia's golden son and we love him dearly. John was still performing up until a few years ago ( roughly 72 years of age and still killing the vocals) then was diagnosed with mouth cancer has made a recovery but hasn't sang again.
TY for the in-depth info. I'm embarrassed to say I'd never heard of John Farnham - but admittedly, my musical knowledge is not that great. I learn along with BP! John's voice is as powerful as is his message. Wonderful...🙏out to him...mouth cancer for a singer...🙏
This song made me tear up. My late father was a huge fan of Farnham and used to rock the same hair and could sing just like him. This song really got me. RIP dad.
Thank you for reacting to the amazing John Farnham ❤️ He is Australian music royalty and this song is like a second national anthem to us. So special - as you will no doubt be seeing by all the comments John is very well respected and loved 😊 This song will never age. If you play it Aussies will be there!! Farnsey (as we call him, though he is known simply as The Voice also) is definitely no one hit wonder with over 50 years in the industry he is an absolute icon. Thanks for the beautiful reaction. I am glad you appreciated and enjoyed it so much. I hope you will do more 😊❤❤
Please, please watch this live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (1989). If for nothing other than to see John throw the mic stand across the stage then later kick it straight back up into his hand when he wanted it, without missing a note... (a bit of a thing he did here and there) but also for the sheer (not auto-tuned) power and precision, the audience participation and the whole BIG performance. He's a lovely man to watch. So much warmth live, and so much talent. And the Bagpiper, live.
Hi, Lisa, 61, from Australia and have lived with John Farnham's music my whole life. The Voice was from Johns most successful album way back in the late 80's, I think. He is our living legend and we love him. Yes his voice is/was amazing. Sadly he suffered cancer of the throat and we haven't heard him sing for a while. But a true Australian talent.
He has been at the top for 60 years.. recovering from mouth cancer now. I saw him sing this song test run this whole album in the early 80s in a local bar ...we were blown away too. He is a pure legend here in 🇦🇺 Australia.... a powerhouse voice, a singers singer, I heard him describe as.
YES!! That whole concert was EPIC!!! And I think the chain reaction concert was amazing too - the one where he’s wearing the black long sleeve shirt? The MSO was the white shirt.
You got it brother. Us Aussies fkn love us some Farnesy. But you need him live, he's even better. The beatles song Help with the MSO, his version kills the beatles, Angels, his duet with Olivia newton John 'please don't ask me', black dog (warm up vocal just audio), but you must see his very young version of Bridge over troubled waters. That's just for starters. Farnesy might be an angel in human form, best singer ever imo
First album I ever bought was John Farnham's 'Whispering Jack'. Sept 1986 - I bought it for my 10th bday. He's a legend and really nice guy too - in 2023 he lent 'The Voice' song to the Yes vote as their theme song.
John Farnham hit all the notes all the time - saw him so many times in Sydney Australia and he is so vocally gifted and just a really nice, warm and ind soul. He did a short time after Glenn Shorrock left The Little River Band and the song with them you should listen to is 'Playing to Win'. This song unfortnately doesn't date because there are so many wars and conflicts in our world. He is a genuine lovely person and it is so sad a lifetime of smoking is probably the cause of the cancer in his jaw, such that he had to have part of his jaw removed and a prosthesis fitted. He may not sing again but he is a 'bloke' so he may well surprise us allHe is truly a blessing.
Do yourself a favour and listen to it live with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra. Also check out his cover of the Beatles song “help” live with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra
This came out in 1987. John is fire live. 🔥 This song with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra is a must-see. John's live performances are second to none. I'm so glad you've finally gotten round to reacting to John. Thanks for your reaction. ❤
@AnnieD.1982 Hi Annie. I'm fine. I've been very busy and very tired, so I watch reactions, smile, then like and go to sleep. Haha! Hope you and your family are doing well. I hope reaction videos never die. It's so exciting when a reactor, reacting to John, pops up. Great seeing you here. ❤️
Hi Jojo 😊 You are a very busy lady! I hope you get a break soon. Listening to John is the best way to relax after a long day though, so you are using your time very well😅👍 I am doing good thanks. Mum had her cancer surgery last week and is recovering really well, so we are all very relieved and happy ❤ I hope to catch you in a live chat soon. Miss the lovely chats we have. Take care 🤗 ❤❤
He was born in England but grew up from a young age in Melbourne, Victoria about the same time as Olivia Newton John. As for bagpipes, yes they are a Scottish instrument but remember the 1st convicts came to Australia from Britain and they comprised of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish and over the years the population grew from Great Britain. Most of the population are from there - having roots there, although in times since WWII there has been a influx from Greece, Italy, parts of Asia and parts of Arab countries.
Ask your pal Dom (That Singer reactions) what he thinks of Farnsey (& Barnsey) our Aussie Legends!! (Both in Dom’s top 5 of greatest male singers). Stoked as to see this pop up on your channel - you’ve gotta check him out live - he really is “The Voice” 🇦🇺❤️
He is our Australian legend, the greatest male voice worldwide ever.... ( the last two years recovering from mouth cancer. Where surgeons virtually replaced and rebuilt his jaw and mouth over several hours) I've had the privilege to witness his live concerts-- even stole a kiss. His voice is pure velvet, the king of vocals. "He is the voice"....
Mate John can sing ANYTHING. Listen to him sing Black Dog from Led zeppelin. Never released he was just recorded whilst he sang it as a warm up before a show.
Live version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing - check out his version of "Help" from same concert. He is much loved here in Australia. cheers.
Thanks for your reaction to this singer BP. This turned me on to new music, a singer i didn't know. I'm Canadian and so also into bagpipes. Love this song. Mr. Farnham has great pipes
John "Farnsey" Farnham, known as "The Voice" here in Oz. Nic @ThatSingerReactions rates John as 1 of the greatest singers of all time. John can sing any genre, from rock to opera, ballads to soul. Always react to Aussie singers live. John has such a huge back catalogue. In Days to Come is another banger. As others have said, John's cover of the Beatles song Help - live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is a must listen to. Also "When something is wrong with my baby" with our other 🐐- Jimmy Barnes ❤ John also does Led Zeppelin's Black Dog as a mic check 🔥.
You have to watch him sing this live...John also does a fire version of 'It's a long way to the top' and one of his most gorgeous songs is 'touch of paradise' dive in please to John Farnham, especially live, he goes off and he's so charismatic on stage just a phenomenal performer and human being. We love him, he's a national treasure! Something is wrong with my baby" Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham really shows his vocal range and if you haven't heard of Jimmy Barnes...well another Aussie icon from the band Cold Chisel.
John Farnham is my all time favourite singer. Legend in Australia and New Zealand, as I'm a kiwi. He has had many struggles in his life and to me always stayed humble and a very comical guy. Had many hits and definitely the voice of my life time.
As an 🇦🇺 Johnny is our “VOICE” in music From when I was young child to today… There’s no amount of words that can describe our King of Music…he’s beyond Legendary Stardom
This song - You’re the Voice is anthem here in Australia and everyone will tell you need you need to hear him live 💯 Later the bagpipes were swapped with a keyboard played by David Hirschfelder. The guy looking like Rambo on guitar Brett Garsed who was with John and the rest of the band including Tommy Emmanuel a brilliant guitarist is known worldwide playing on this video as well. ThatSingerReactions has John Farnham in his top five vocalist of all time. 🌟🌟
John Farnham is a music icon in Australia. You should hear him sing 'Help me if you can' a Beatles classic. And much more. He's now in his 70's and had awful oral cancer in his mouth. The surgery saved his life but John will never sing again. So sad. We Aussies adore him.
John is GOAT as far as Australia is concerned, we have been fortunate in Australia to have bands and artists that are more than equal to what was in the rest of the world, and if you care to dive down the rabbit hole you will be more than pleasantly surprised. and to answer your question, yes he could hit those notes live, just watch some of his UA-cam concert video's

Help ... John Farnham live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤ X millions
❤🤘 Best version of that song IMHO
Go big or go home!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@Stu-Bo absolutely 💯 ❤️
Yes, THIS! ❤
he is an Aussie through and through...we love him xxxx
Seeing him perform live was the most insane experience… John is an icon
Definitely a much loved and respected Aussie legend.
His one of ours ! 🎉Incredible singer .. One of the best voices of all time.Shout out from Australia ❤
oi oi oi
The bagpipes are in this song because John is a massive, massive fan of AC/DC, and he covers 'Long Way To The Top'. In fact, in at least one live performance of this song, the bagpipes enter with the AC/DC solo before breaking into this solo. Rambo is Brett Garsed, played with John for a long, long time.
They are in this as the main writer of this song is Scottish Born.
@@malcolmrayner3480 yeah. No. They’re in because John wanted them in. They weren’t in the original demo, the writers were all English born and you don’t actually know what you’re taking about, and every word you said was wrong.
Good call on this, never put the connection in with the bag pipes. :)
John Farnham is just as genuinely wholesome as Steve Irwin was. Hearts the size of a continent, both of them.
ALWAYS listen to John Farnham LIVE!
His voice is phenomenal and his stage presence is something to behold ❤❤❤❤
you should see John's live version of ACDC's 'Long way to the top' with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
First single my parents bought me back in 1970s when I was about 5 was John Farnham singing a cover of “Rain drops ☔️ Keep Falling on My Head”!😀😂😀
Johnny Farnham is an absolute Icon of Aussie Music.
John Farnham is one of the best, BEST singers in the world 🌏
🎯🎯🎯🎯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍🇦🇺
💯💯💯💯💯💯
I don’t think there’s ever been another male singer come close to him! His range, power, tone… everything is perfect and beyond what most could ever even dream of
He is a much loved and iconic Australian singer who not only has a fantastic voice but an extraordinary capacity to engage an audience. He performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - if you want a treat check out him singing Help (and this song) at this concert. It is special.
Australian here, John Farnham is awesome for the past 50 years, wish him the best due to throat cancer
Mouth cancer
Good idea!
Nailed it BP. Yes he's Australian and yes he's a dead set legend. On fire tonight mate!
😢💔
I've only this tune a few times in my life time. Too me this has more to do with ART. It's beautifully played.❤!
I was wondering how he was doing. Glad to hear he’s feeling better and hopefully continues to do well. ❤
we nearly lost john last year..but he is ok now from england and migrated to australia
Yep, one of our best ever. What John Farnham live. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼
This song made me tear up. My late father was a huge fan of Farnham and used to rock the same hair and could sing just like him. This song really got me. RIP dad.
Thank you for reacting to the amazing John Farnham ❤️ He is Australian music royalty and this song is like a second national anthem to us. So special - as you will no doubt be seeing by all the comments John is very well respected and loved 😊
This song will never age.
I hope you will do more 😊❤❤
Also known as 'Whispering Jack', John is an absolute legend in Australia!
One of the BEST vocalists ever
Thank, thank, thankyou...The Voice IS...John Farham ❤❤❤
"This dude can sing", lol thats a huge understatement. One of the voices of the 20th century
Should see it live. John Farnham should always be viewed live.
Absolutely 💯 ❤
Agreed
Yup, I remember watching it when I was a little tacker
Love the amount of Aussies that are here!
Watching others react to our Aussie legends always makes me proud 😊
Another rabbit hole to dive into?
Live version! With Melbourne Symphony!
YES!! That whole concert was EPIC!!!
And I think the chain reaction concert was amazing too - the one where he’s wearing the black long sleeve shirt? The MSO was the white shirt.
Yes! Need a reaction to this. Classic is an understatement!
Farnesy might be an angel in human form, best singer ever imo
little river band also need to check out with john
Oh yes!!! Just found John a few months ago…always do Live and everything you can find from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. More, more, and more❤❤❤❤
Absolutely Bloody Legend of the land of Aus 🎉
First album I ever bought was John Farnham's 'Whispering Jack'. Sept 1986 - I bought it for my 10th bday. He's a legend and really nice guy too - in 2023 he lent 'The Voice' song to the Yes vote as their theme song.
Oh now this is exciting. Welcome to great Aussie music ❤
John is an Aussie legend, I grew up with hismusic...and still listen to him today
Same. I absolutely love watching people reaction videos to Johnny, such a buzz.
One of the best ever Aussie rocker ever he is royalty
I saw John live when I was 18yrs old and now I am 76yrs and still love our John !! Search him and read all about him....
I've never heard of this song before. WOW! This guys voice is AMAZING! The lyrics are on point especially in our current times.
Hey Jojo 👋 😊 Hope you have been well 🙏 ❤❤
Farnsey taking over the world one reactor at a time!! 👍😅😍
Listening to John is the best way to relax after a long day though, so you are using your time very well😅👍
I am doing good thanks. Mum had her cancer surgery last week and is recovering really well, so we are all very relieved and happy ❤
I hope to catch you in a live chat soon. Miss the lovely chats we have.
Take care 🤗 ❤❤
@@AnnieD.1982 I'm happy to hear your mum is recovering well. Listening to John is the only way I relax and stay sane. You take care as well. ❤️❤️
1986 it came out. I was driving Toowoomba to Ipswich and it came on the radio...i was so blown away I nearly had to pull over and gather myself up
John is the Voice singing You’re the voice. You gotta check out live bro, he’s insane and a vocal powerhouse
Still gives me goosebumps...anthem of our time...
The absolute BEST Aussie singer in our history for sure!! He has SO many incredible songs you should check out. He’s our most loved Aussie singer ❤
Are they mates?? Explains why I’m drawn to this channel! 😂
@@fionaanderson7431 same here
FARNZY IS THE GOAT! Only watch him LIVE..........he can sing literally anything. Enjoy the rabbit hole! AUSSIE LEGEND!
Elvis kills him, when it comes to singing.
He is our Australian legend, the greatest male voice worldwide ever....
( the last two years recovering from mouth cancer. Where surgeons virtually replaced and rebuilt his jaw and mouth over several hours)
I've had the privilege to witness his live concerts-- even stole a kiss.
His voice is pure velvet, the king of vocals. "He is the voice"....
Mate John can sing ANYTHING. Listen to him sing Black Dog from Led zeppelin. Never released he was just recorded whilst he sang it as a warm up before a show.
Best live singer you'll ever hear in your life.
He's good...not that good.
John and Steve Perry
@@JFLY78 Actually, he is that good.
Finally !!! You got to our John. He is a legend of Australian music and very much loved in Australia. He is also a down to earth lovely guy 🇦🇺 ❤️
Yes you are saying his name correctly and he’s from Australia 🇦🇺
He’s an Aussie ICON! Thanx for appreciating him. 🤗
Also "When something is wrong with my baby" with our other 🐐- Jimmy Barnes ❤
John also does Led Zeppelin's Black Dog as a mic check 🔥.
'When the war is over' from his 'Last Time' concert. Best live performance of his I've ever seen!!!
Agree.
AMAZING VOICE 🎉🎉🎉🎉John Farnham BRILLIANT
John Farnham is my all time favourite singer. Legend in Australia and New Zealand, as I'm a kiwi. He has had many struggles in his life and to me always stayed humble and a very comical guy. Had many hits and definitely the voice of my life time.
You're absolutely right! A complete and utter legend here in Australia!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I’ve never been more
excited for a reaction. When people say listen to him Live you must listen to him live.
As an 🇦🇺 Johnny is our “VOICE” in music
From when I was young child to today…
There’s no amount of words that can describe our King of Music…he’s beyond Legendary Stardom
Gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it
Nearly 40 years later and this on this song still gives me goosebumps
me too
Yes…John with MSO “It’s a Long Way to the Top ❤❤❤❤❤!!!
Yes!!!
G’day. This song won many awards back in the 1980’s down under. Hearing it always gives me goosebumps for some reason. ❤️🇦🇺
Good reminder of a wonderful Aussie Legend. Every generation should remember
John Farnham is a music icon in Australia. You should hear him sing 'Help me if you can' a Beatles classic. And much more. He's now in his 70's and had awful oral cancer in his mouth. The surgery saved his life but John will never sing again. So sad. We Aussies adore him.
Oh yeah! Help me is an outstanding song.
One of the greatest pop-rock vocalists of all time...
Glad you found him. This is a rewarding rabbit hole!
John Farnham is from australia and yes hes a huge icon and very adored. Very adored by all ages. One incredible human being with the voice like no other❤
John Farnham is an Aussie Icon - fabulous voice and the nicest human being too. He's much loved here in Oz.
