My wife and I saw INXS in a hundred year old ornate theater at the begining of their KICK tour. Five rows back with fifteen hundred in attendance. In no time they were playing in front of a hundred thousand people in stadiums. I've seen just about every big rock act in my seventy years. INXS was the finest executing musical ensemble I've seen. Michael Huchence was absolutely magical and second to no one as a frontman. Great band, great loss. So so lucky to have seen and heard them.
Im 61 first saw them for $1 on the university lawns in Adelaide South Australia in the 70's, we were lucky, $2 to see AC/DC at the local town Hall and Cold Chisel at the Largs Pier Hotel, the 70;s and 80's were just amazing in Australia for live music
I saw inxs on the get out of the house tour, where they were playing intimate venues. We were on the balcony. Michael climbed up the speakers and onto the balcony, it was a good 20 foot drop if he messed it up! What a gig. What a band.

I'm 61 and when I was in college, I went to a Men AT Work concert. The opening band was a little known (in Canada) band also from Australia. It was INXS. I became a life long fan 👍👍
My very first rock concert was INXS. I loved their song "Listen Like Thieves" because it was a radio hit but then my friend turned me on to one of their older songs "Don't Change" then invited me to go with him to the concert when they came to town. I think they played the entire Kick album but the final encore was "Don't Change." They were such a great band.
When you said the drummer and guitarists look like brothers, you were spot on. There are three brothers keyboardist Andrew Farriss, the drummer Jon Farriss and guitarist Tim Farriss. The band was originally called The Farriss Brothers in 1977 and they changed their name in 1979 to INXS which was inspired by English band XTC and the Australian Jam Company IXL. They were all the original band members up until Michaels death in 1997. I didn't realise Michael Hutchence was 37 when he died, I always thought he was a member of the unfortunate 27 club. An amazing band, I still remember a lot of their early work quite fondly.
We Aussie's were so spoilt when it came to our music industry especially in the late 70's, all thru the 80's & in the early 90's. Our own Aussie genre of music was/is "Pub Rock" & to make it in Australia as a band u had to go thru the brutal & harsh Aussie pub scene, playing in pubs all across the country & if the bands could win over the suburban & bush blue-collar Aussie's then a record deal would be signed & sealed. Yes ACCA DACCA & INXS were our main exports overseas & yes both bands went thru the pub scene but we had a lot more bands that were just as brilliant but just couldn't crack the US market for a few reasons. They didn't understand our genre, they wanted our bands to become more Americanised & lose their Aussie identity & even wanted a few lead singers to change their singing accent from Aussie to American. ACCA DACCA changed enough to crack the US but not turning their backs on us Aussie's. INXS didn't change much at all becoming famous via the UK to the US, so they didn't need to change their identity. It's bands like Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Hunters & Collectors, Aussie Crawl to name a few that refused to change who they were for the US market & with that the world missed out & us Aussie's were so spoilt for choice
Michael is and always will be one of the very few authentic Soul Rock God's. He had the voice, the looks, the moves, the charisma and not one girl or guy I ever came across would deny that! Gone way too soon. 💔
My brother, cousin and I are in that ‘sea of people’ lol First saw Inxs at the Albert Hall when they were promoting their Listen like Thieves album, think it was 1985 and saw them many times after that. Michael Hutchence was a great frontman and is sorely missed.
Such a monster catalogue. Check out some of their earlier stuff. 'Don't Change' , 'Kiss the dirt' , 'Dancing on the Jetty. But there's another 50 that are just as good.
This concert DVD is one of the best ever. INXS at their peak, in Wembley Stadium, in front of 72,000 fans, which at the time was a big deal for a band from Australia to sell out a Wembley show in London, England. The whole show is a must watch if you like what you saw here
inxs didn't have a bad song while michael was fronting them. miss him so much. I don't care what anyone says he was/is/always will be the best frontman in rock and roll.
INXS broke big from Australia in the 80's... Their lead singer Michael Hutchence was the star of INXS; he had the voice, charisma and songwriting talent that made him a superstar in the 80's and 90's. INXS also had a sax player that made them unique as a pop band... the rest were - Garry Gary Beers (bass)... and brothers Tim Farriss (lead guitar), Andrew Farriss (keyboards) and Jon Farriss (drums) This concert captured INXS at the height of stardom touring on their 7th album 'X' in 1990. Unfortunately, the alternative 90's trends somewhat marginalized INXS' appeal but they carried on releasing albums & touring... Their last album w/ Michael Hutchence was 'Elegantly wasted' in 1997... and the singer was hoping to release a solo album afterwards. Despite his stardom, Michael Hutchence ended up in a scandalous relationship w/ the wife of British icon Bob Geldof (who organized the Live Aid '85 charity concert) which resulted in a bitter divorce and custody battle, while Hutchence and girlfriend Paula Yates welcomed a daughter together... In late 1997, he was hoping to spend the Christmas holidays w/ Yates and his daughter when he was informed that Yates court case was delayed and they could not leave for the holidays... Hutchence apparently made frantic calls to remedy the situation to no avail... The next day, he was found dead from suicide. Paula Yates died a few years later; Yates' ex-husband Bob Geldof raised their daughter Tiger Lily. INXS tried to carry on w/ new singers, but it was impossible to replace a singer of Michael Hutchence's star and caliber. They disbanded in 2012.
Mate, that was a really respectful (toward Michael and the band).. great synopsis and cool info for anyone wanting to discover INXS.. I’m 51.. my boy is 16 (both musos). He loves them. So do all his mates ✌️
It can't be understated how popular INXS was globally. They were really one of only a few of the biggest bands in the world in the late 80s and into the 90s, period. They'd been together for years in Australia and had success, but they hit huge, huge in '87 w/their album KICK. It had so many huge hit singles, one after the other, their videos were on MTV 24/7, they were just omnipresent. So yes, this is how popular they were, to have Wembley rocking like this. The lead singer, Micheal Hutchence, died in '97, very, very sad loss. People like Bono from U2, who was a close friend, wrote a couple songs about/for him, they performed w/Queen & Bon Jovi (I'm saying those examples to show you how big they were, lol) at various live shows...they were IT. The entire concert is fire and the 2 you picked are great, thanks!
Love INXS!!!! RIP Hutch!! So many great songs!!!!!! He had such an amazing voice!!! One of my favorites is Never Tear us Apart.... everyone except Hutch(singer), Kirk (sax) and Garry(bass) are brothers
Mate we rocked to INXS here in Australia…I saw these boys at the tender age of 16 when my girlfriend and I went to their first live performance in Cairns (North Queensland) at The Playpen International- our first flash nightclub to open n Cairns, Australia!! Michael Hutchins was the most charismatic, energetic and sensual singer the World had not seen for so long… It wasn’t long before the boys left for the US and they became Superstars…such memories…
@@grant8182 really!! Wow…it was the best fookin night I reckon I had there…although seeing bands like Goanna, Midnight Oil, Gangajang, Paul Kelly at the Kuranda Ampitheatre were also incredible!! Cairns was a great little place in the early 80s…take care mate.
LOVE😍INXS...happy to say, as a teen, I saw them 6times live...every time was OMG😍 WOW! Still feel goosebumps whenever I hear their music. I miss Michael & INXS so much😢 Must sees: INXS: Never Tear Us Apart (docu series) and MYSTIFY: Michael Hutchence ❤️🙏🇦🇺

Best band and vocalist in the world in my opinion, i recommend you to listen "lately" from this same concert, this guys were and still are so underrated
Great reaction to a great band. Welcome to INXS! Lots to look forward to. As you can see, Michael Hutchence was one of Rocks best front men. Huge crowd, with everybody moving and grooving. Great live band! RIP MR. HUTCHENCE!
They were an extraordinary band and Michael Hutchence was an extraordinary front man. He also dated the innocent pop Queen back in the 80s Kylie Minogue for 3 years. Kylie is now one of the biggest superstars on the planet. She did a tribute to him singing, I Need You Tonight on one of her tours I think it was 2015 . This is a mashup of the video he did for the song and Kylie’s covering it in concert. It’s pretty spectacular. Trivia he wrote the song Suicide Blonde for Kylie. Below is the link to the mashup. ua-cam.com/video/bBRgoJZd73M/v-deo.htmlsi=ijZqc-im5DfbOI_o
Michael Hutchence wherever you are, you are so MISSED. Fact is that in 1991 a show was so much fun. No cams or smartphones, no social media. Just fun !!!
INXS, at this concert in 1991, this was the final peak of 80's music. Nirvana and grunge soon took over from here, but nothing can steal away this fantastic concert from a fantastic band. The only song I'd add is Suicide Blonde. I've never seen 74 thousand people all bounce up and down in time like I saw to this song at Wembley...
I'm 59 years old but was a massive INXS fan back in the day, and I still am. I saw them live twice, once on the Kick tour and once on The Suicide Blond Tour. They were amazing and I believe they would still be going now if it wasn't for the death of Michael. RIP.
I saw them 3 times... all as the back up band to... (get this) Adam Ant at a tiny ice arena in E. Lansing, MI. Then the Go Gos in Tampa. Then U2 near Detroit. The last 2 were big arena shows. They owned the stage at each one. Especially Hutchence. Def. gone too soon. RIP.
So proud of this Aussie band. INXS is part of my growing into a young adult in Australia and have seen them live in regional Australia and they were awesome 💥
The first album (vinyl) i bought by myself was INXS's Kick, it's an 80's Rock masterpiece full of hits. I saw them live in my home town of Saint-Malo in the castle's yard. They were one of the best live rock bands. ⚡🤘⚡
One of the bands that got me into rock music as a kid in the 80's, loved them ever since, and then when i was 17 and thought i would enjoy new music from them for years to come Michael left this world so suddenly. I remember watching a reality TV show to find his replacement, and for awhile they did find someone, but Michael was the soul of INXS.
INXS rock man, there is an awesome 4K video of this show it was recorded in 35mm high quality film back in 91 and was recently reworked into 4K it's called, INXS Live baby live, Great show a must :)
Drummer (Jon Farriss), keyboard player (Andrew Farriss) and guitar player (wearing Jesus Jones T-shirt - Tim Farriss) are brothers. Michael is lead singer, Kurt is sax and guitar and Garry is bass. Andrew & Michael were at school together, Jon & Garry also at school and same with Tim & Kurt. Their closeness and bond is obvious as they played so tight as a band. Losing Michael that way devasted them so much. Had the privilege of seeing them live in the same tour & year but in Rotterdam and they were fantastic. Michael as a front man was massively underrated. RiP 💔
One of my first ever concerts One of the best ever Aussie bands Good times doing mainys down Freo with a carload hanging out the winndows with INXS cranking 😂❤
1980, Sydney and I'm 19. I go with a girl I'm really keen on to Chequers. The band playing is INXS. There's about 200 punters. I've seen their name on band posters around town and like you I assume they're punkish, but I haven't heard their music. We are down the front and they start their set. Immediately I am just drawn in and transfixed to the frontman. He is magnetic. The music not really my taste but it doesn't matter. This guy just oozes charisma, energy and style and the band is tight. I walk out of there knowing I have seen something special... A couple of weeks later they release the single 'Just Keep Walking' and that's it- I'm hooked! PS: I didn't get the girl, but we are Facebook friends 44 years later and we still occasionally talk about that gig. Thank you Liza!
RIP Michael Hutchence, one of rock’s greatest vocalists and performers. Please, anybody who is depressed, please seek help, or you may end your life like MH. Peace
You’re not far off with your initial perception. From their debut self titled album INXS back in 1980, specifically the song Just Keep Walking very much had a punk ‘esque’ characteristic to it. From there, they just kept reinventing themselves to the stellar band they were renowned for. Had the privilege of seeing them live 8 times, which sadly should have been so many more. They were a true force within the Australian/worldwide music industry
You need to go out and buy an INXS greatest hits CD because this is one of the best bands ever. The amount of music that was popular and on the radio back in their day is tremendous. Michael Hutchence was infectious with his energy and his beautiful face and his energy. When he died, the rest of the band members had a show on TV looking for a singer to replace Michael, of course this was years after he passed. The show was called Rockstar INXS and you can actually see it on UA-cam
I meet Michael when I worked at Fishermans Wharf on the Gold Coast, saw so so many bands from around the world when I worked there was a time 2 be alive music was still played raw & heavy so much charisma, I still have va massive framed black n white pic of him, followed them since surfing days as a young 20 something from the 1st album 2 the last
Hi from your new subscriber in Charlotte, NC! You should check out the entire KICK album! Not a bad cut on it! INXS had the talent, the sound & the vibe that just took your ears, your eyes & your whole being over! I listen to/watch "New Sensation" EVERY DAY & have for a very long time! There are active petitions circulating to get them inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in '25! You should sign it & promote it! They should've ALREADY BEEN inducted! Take care. Stay safe. ☮️❤️🎶
I was lucky enough to see them twice for the Kick Tour and the Calling all Nations Tour. My favourite band of all time. Well spotted - the keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, and guitarist Tim Farriss are brothers.
It’s hard to believe there are people in the world who haven’t heard the music of inxs …. Imagine that? And then discovering them and having a whole new world of music and performances open up? Wow! My faveINXS song is don’t change. But I love so many of their songs, Worth listening to that one micheal did with Max Q
There are three brothers in the band. The drummer, guitar player and keyboard player. Tim, Jon and Andrew. INXS is my all time favorite band. I’m 50 years old now and I went to my first concert at the age of 13. It was the KICK tour. I was able to see them twice more before Michael passed. RIP Michael, you are loved and missed.
I first saw INXS way back in 1980, not long after they released their first album, in the back bar of a local Tavern where I live. It was a very small venue with only enough room for about 100 people. The crowd got very drunk and some idiot started throwing empty beer glasses at the band and then all hell broke lose and the police were called and the concert was closed down. I then saw them again a year later after they had released the Underneath the Colours album at an RSL Club in a nearby Town. It was a much bigger venue with about 500 people there and fortunately the crowd was much better behaved and so I got to see the whole concert. They didn't come back again after that concert because they got too big for small country town venues.
I went to college in America in the 80’s and the college station DJ played one of their songs and introduced them as the “Inks”. As an Aussie I had to call and correct them!! IN EXCESS!! Was a proud Aussie moment hearing them in the States
I’m a sixty year old woman and I first saw INXS at my University orientation week when I was 18. Michael was so charismatic, he had a special quality as a performer, that just drew people in. The guitar and harmonica riffs by those talented guys are unmistakable when you hear them, this band was made to dance to, anywhere, anytime…..yeah!
You're almost correct, the drummer John, keyboards Andrew and guitar Tim are brothers! All high school friends that went onto conquer the world. Aussie bands that cut their teeth (fans will get the reference) in the local pubs all over Australia! This iconic performance is just amazing. They jam ao well and the vocals of Michael live is just phenomenal. They always sound better live!
Hi from Australia 🙃 INXS are phenomenal band and Michael was a huge talent..I think you have reacted to Jimmy barnes from the band cold chisel..INXS and jimmy barnes do a great duet called goodtimes (you can see Michael is in awe of Jimmys vocal ability) ❤
I saw them once at a 2000 capacity venue earlier in their career. Michael can command an audience of any size. Glad you noticed the distinctive sound…they worked hard to find a sound they could call their own and they stuck with it until the end
Hard to believe that INXS are not in the Rock and Roll hall of fame! Never been nominated! Would love to see that one day!

I loved his voice. RIP Mr. Hutchence
INXS is still the best band in the world.... and we're consistently at their best every performance! xx
My brother, cousin and I are in that ‘sea of people’ lol First saw Inxs at the Albert Hall when they were promoting their Listen like Thieves album, think it was 1985 and saw them many times after that. Michael Hutchence was a great frontman and is sorely missed.
i was at this actual concert... 13 july 1991. six rows from the front and stage right.... i will never forget it
That's awesome.
Very jealous.
These may have been my 2 favourites of theirs.
Did i request the best ones of the night?
@@troywatson5429 guns in the sky to start and then into new sensation. never tear us apart was an absolute belter. still remember it to this day.
Me too!!!!
I’m 72 and I love INXS they were brilliant! TookAmerica by,storm!
I'm 74 😂❤❤❤
Mystify the official video and Never Tear Us Apart the official video ❤😊
INXS also had a sax player that made them unique as a pop band... the rest were - Garry Gary Beers (bass)... and brothers Tim Farriss (lead guitar), Andrew Farriss (keyboards) and Jon Farriss (drums)
This concert captured INXS at the height of stardom touring on their 7th album 'X' in 1990.
The best rock band ever. Michael's voice is unparalleled
Totally agree. I always felt Michael was only going to get better. Sadly we were never to witness that😢
lived and breathed INXS all through high school , top quality aussie music , johnsons aeroplane still has a special place in my heart 😮
YES!!! The Swing album was just incredible. Not one bad track.
Mate we rocked to INXS here in Australia…I saw these boys at the tender age of 16 when my girlfriend and I went to their first live performance in Cairns (North Queensland) at The Playpen International- our first flash nightclub to open n Cairns, Australia!! Michael Hutchins was the most charismatic, energetic and sensual singer the World had not seen for so long…
It wasn’t long before the boys left for the US and they became Superstars…such memories…
Ha ha Yes I was there that night in Cairns too :)
Was there! Still have my ticket, and the t-shirt! :)
First time ever hearing them was in 86 when I was in the Navy. The Swing was the first album I heard and I was hooked.
I love them so much back in the 80’s. They came my high school back in 1981 . They weren’t well known then and everyone loved them .
LOVE😍INXS...happy to say, as a teen, I saw them 6times live...every time was OMG😍 WOW! Still feel goosebumps whenever I hear their music. I miss Michael & INXS so much😢
Must sees:
INXS: Never Tear Us Apart (docu series)
and
MYSTIFY: Michael Hutchence
❤️🙏🇦🇺

I went to see INXS on their X tour...Loved him forever.
Best band and vocalist in the world in my opinion, i recommend you to listen "lately" from this same concert, this guys were and still are so underrated
I felt like a proud mum watching your reaction. I grew up with INXS, they are from my home town. They are iconic! Concerts were brilliant!
Great reaction to a great band. Welcome to INXS! Lots to look forward to. As you can see, Michael Hutchence was one of Rocks best front men. Huge crowd, with everybody moving and grooving. Great live band! RIP MR. HUTCHENCE!
This band will always be on the top ❤
They were an extraordinary band and Michael Hutchence was an extraordinary front man. He also dated the innocent pop Queen back in the 80s Kylie Minogue for 3 years. Kylie is now one of the biggest superstars on the planet. She did a tribute to him singing, I Need You Tonight on one of her tours I think it was 2015 . This is a mashup of the video he did for the song and Kylie’s covering it in concert. It’s pretty spectacular.
Trivia he wrote the song Suicide Blonde for Kylie. Below is the link to the mashup.

Saw INXS in Brighton one of the best live bands ever
A little known track from the same show. Look for The Stairs a fabulous track and my favourite
I was obsessed with inxs as a teenager.... Awesome true blue aussie band!!!!
got to see these guys live - his voice knocks you out with his baritone. Amazing vocals.
I'm 59 years old but was a massive INXS fan back in the day, and I still am. I saw them live twice, once on the Kick tour and once on The Suicide Blond Tour. They were amazing and I believe they would still be going now if it wasn't for the death of Michael. RIP.
Never too late, mate. Welcome to the INXS club.
Thank you for this great reaction to my favorite Band, my Michael Hutchence 💖🙏🏻💝 Greetings from Germany
RIP.
I loved this band back long ago... What a frontman.
I learned about INXS through Helena Christensen, the model .. that band was huge! 🙂
Proud to be an Aussie . One of the greatest bands . Yes there are brothers x 3 . The Ferris Brothers . Michael R.I.P ❤❤❤❤
Not many men could rock the leather pants the way Michael did ❤
The audience fully enjoying the music, no smartphones at all, those were great concerts.
I don't think there was a female alive who wasn't a little in love with Michael. INXS with Jimmy Barnes singing Good Times is another banger
I must have been the exception. I was more in to the other band members than Michael. lol
I think even straight male fans were a little into Michael. 😂
Yes 🙌 that’s another banger and Jimmy Barnes of course is another living legend.
Completely agree Jimmy & Michael are amazing in that!
Saw them live twice in NYC. Tight band.
inxs were awesome!
RiP 💔
One of my first ever concerts
One of the best ever Aussie bands
Good times doing mainys down Freo with a carload hanging out the winndows with INXS cranking 😂❤
RIP,Micheal. You are missed and in our hearts forever.
The best Aussie band of my time, est front man too. I'm 70 yrs young! R.I.P Michael Hutchence, gone far too soon.
One of the biggest bands back in the day. Huge part of Aussie life. They lived in my street for a few months when I was a teenager. Absolutely mental.
Yes. They really were that good. ❤
Take care. Stay safe. ☮️❤️🎶
That band was something else! I was so sad when I heard the news about Michael on the radio..............
One of the best bands to come out of Australia and there were many great bands. Hello from Oz
I was lucky enough to see them twice for the Kick Tour and the Calling all Nations Tour. My favourite band of all time. Well spotted - the keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, and guitarist Tim Farriss are brothers.
One of the coolest singers of all time Brillant voice and presence.
It’s hard to believe there are people in the world who haven’t heard the music of inxs …. Imagine that? And then discovering them and having a whole new world of music and performances open up? Wow! My faveINXS song is don’t change. But I love so many of their songs,
Worth listening to that one micheal did with Max Q
God he was gorgeous
There are three brothers in the band. The drummer, guitar player and keyboard player. Tim, Jon and Andrew. INXS is my all time favorite band. I’m 50 years old now and I went to my first concert at the age of 13. It was the KICK tour. I was able to see them twice more before Michael passed. RIP Michael, you are loved and missed.
Same coalition as Toto
The Farris brothers.
Around 1978 or 1979 My friends and I saw Men at Work live. The opening band was amazing. Years later I found out it was INXS.
R>I>P Michael Hutchens best front man from the land down under ,INXS rocks
