I've seen Supertramp twice. They are incredible in concert. All accomplished musicians who all play multiple instruments. They run around stage trading instruments and never missing a beat. React to "Dreamer" another fantastic song. They had so many hits in the 80's
Accually most of their hits are from the 70s, the only song from the 80's (1982) that I like a lot is "It's Raining Again", whereas I like most songs off of the following three albums: "Crime of the Century" (1974), "Even in the Quietest Moments" (1977), and "Breakfast in America" (1979).
The Logical Song" is a song by English rock group Supertramp that was released as the lead single from their album Breakfast in America in March 1979. It was written primarily by the band's Roger Hodgson, who based the lyrics on his experiences being sent away to boarding school for ten years. The song became Supertramp's biggest hit, rising to No. 7 in the United Kingdom and No. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2001, a cover version by the band Scooter returned the song to the top 10 in several European countries

And so well intentioned as a father. That is admirable, and your daughters are lucky to have you as a caring, loving dad.
I was also in high-school and was really into progressive rock. The message/ lyrics often resonated with me. I saw these guys, Rush, Kansas and others live at the time.
I'm a 66 year old white retired widower fan since I found you reacting to Ren - my favorite new artist. Glad you found Supertramp - my all time favorite band. I saw them live twice in the late 70's while serving in the US Marine Corps. Epic performances both times.
As you go through your journey, there's no way you can possibly imagine the amount of talent that hit us, beginning with the Beatles and the British invasion. Literally every month, we were hit with new superstar bands and solo artists that went on for decades. Music from all kinds of genres exploded on the scene through radio, record stores, and live concerts. As a generation, we were peppered with innovation, creativity, and pure genius. The 60's through 80's was truly the golden age of music and will remain at the pinnacle as the greatest music of all time. Enjoy your journey of discovery. You've only scratched the surface.
That's exactly what i was going to say, word for word . How did you do that? Lol, Not really but thats what i was thinking. Not word for word though. That's impossible. heh heh
The song is about indoctrination being told how you should act, live and breathe as your growing up and then one day something snaps inside of you and you question who you are and the things you were taught to be. Brilliant reaction!
Well... indoctrination...altho the buzz word right now...isn't really the point. It's more about as we are young everywhere we turn we're told how to act and be and no one thinks to teach us how to look inside ourselves to who we really are or want to be. If you feel the need to use indoctrination I guess that's your buzz word.
@@snikkerr1949 that was the buzzword back in the 80s too. Indoctrination means teaching someone to accept a set of beliefs without questioning them and then you start to question these things. Perhaps we can call it Social Indoctrination.

Take the Long Way Home Goodbye Stranger Give a Little Bit Dreamer Bloody Well Right My favorite... Give me Love, Give me life... Don't listen to while driving. Your foot goes down on gas petal. 😊
For me, this song speaks to how we all typically follow the same path.... we all go to school, we all write the exams, we all are taught to play nice together, that we should pursue secondary education, that we will meet someone, create a family.... and live within the guidelines of this world that has been built to contain and conform, while giving the illusion of individuality and inspiration. The lead singer has been told who he is supposed to be for his entire life, and now as a young adult, he is sitting back and realizing that he doesn't even know who he is. "Please tell me who I am" Live your life, just don't live the life that your are being told to live. Create your own, and if that involves defying standards, breaking some rules, and finding your own path sometimes... you will be all the happier for it later in life.

Hell! Bruh, you nailed that reaction. I grew up with Supertramp. ‘Crime of the century’? Seriously dark. But please everyone listen to it. There was a BBC weekly broadcast in the 70’s called ‘Top of the Pops’. Supertramp played. A song called ‘Dreamer’. That was it, man. Sold. No going back from there. Enjoy!
This is a true hidden gem from the 70s. Deep song with thought provoking lyrics and some truly masterful musicality but somehow these guys made it seem like it was simple and effortless for them to do. their s great band but that's always been my favorite song of theirs. And yes, the sax needs to be brought back in a big way to modern music. That sounded so good. As far as the whistles, phone rings and kazoos, I don't think those would work as well. Supertramp was a very unique band that made that stuff work. Maybe it could be done today, I dunno. But sax solos should be up in all sorts of modern songs.
"There are times when all the world's asleep The questions run too deep For such a simple man Won't you, please, please, tell me what we've learned? The conformity/killing of new visions in human form, with such potential to make the world a better place for everyone just because instead of adressing one-self hard questions, it is often way easier to just pass on the problematic burden of reality into a younger generation.
This song, like many others of the era (particularly several Pink Floyd songs) are about the indoctrination of children rather than the education of children via school systems. Great reaction to this video!!! Supertramp, Great Band! Roger Hodgson, Singer, Composer and Musician. He wrote The Logical Song. If you get the chance, Please listen to Roger Hodgson's solo work. One song you will never forget is: Roger Hodgson - Had a Dream (Sleeping With the Enemy)(1984). This song and video is unforgettable!! The run time is 5:42. Thank you!
Goodbye Stranger is an amazing song by them from the same album. The whole album, Breakfast in America, is phenomenal! They have so many GREAT songs through the years.
- 5:15 - You look so shook! That is the power of this song, my dude. It can hit you right between the eyes and pierce your heart at the same moment. All of the Breakfast In America album is worth exploring...brilliant work. Supertramp is a British band. The song itself was written by the singer Roger Hodgson based on his own experience as a kid, having a carefree childhood, but then being sent to boarding school. He learned guitar and started writing songs pretty early in his teens while at boarding school. Often, his songs can be deeply personal and spiritual in their content.
Yes there are times when so many bands sound the same. There were SO many Nickelback sound-alikes cuz it's a packaged corporate rock sound that labels and radio stations want to push. But bands like Supertramp are unique. This is why bands like Queen and Pink Floyd were also so popular - because of their unique sound (and pure talent). Other bands in the vein of are Yes, Styx, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac (that you know), Chicago (70s era), Electric Lights Orchestra (ELO), and Rush.
Start with the 4 big albums in order in complete listens Crime of the Century Crisis, What Crisis Even in the Quietest Moments Breakfast in America Just great fusions of classical, jazz, funk & rock. Four of the BEST concerts I ever saw at the old Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton.🇨🇦🇨🇦
Still just crossing songs off of my list left and right!! Lol Love Supertramp!! Take the long way home, Goodbye stranger, Give a little bit, & Dreamer are just a few of their more popular songs!! They are definitely worth a deep dive!!
The London-based progressive rock band Supertramp got their name from The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp, a 1908 novel by Welsh writer William Henry Davies.
Dive Deeper into Supertramp. One of th3 Great Super Groups of the 70's! "School, Goodbye Stranger, Dreamer, Give a Little Bit, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again".
Dude love watching your comments Im in my late 50s I grew up with Supertramp Because my two Older Brothers keep playing there Records back than in the 70s/80s.....???? But my all time Stand out Supertramp Song is always " Dreamer "....
The passage of time from youthful idealism to the harsh realities of adulthood and the crippling demands of societal conformity. My mother used to say, "Even a golden cage is still a cage; live free."
One of my all time favorite songs. Society is set up to make us all conform to 'the norm', problem is we can never agree on what 'the norm' is. I taught my boys to question everything, take no single source (even me) as absolute truth, research from as many sources as possible, then decide for yourself what you believe is true. I taught them that knowledge is everything, that we never stop learning, and the moment you know a subject so thouroughly that there's nothing more to learn is the moment you should realize your ignorance. I taught them to love and respect themselves first so they could give love and respect to others, and that age alone does not earn respect. I hope I taught them a lot more than that, but I think these are the most valuable lessons I could give them.
Listening to this again in my mid 50s, it just makes me wish our institutionalized education system taught children HOW to think rather than WHAT to think. I do miss the old rock that included the saxophone. Yes, it was saxy! Kids did as much air sax as air guitar. Love being GenX! 💯
The entire album is brilliant - Breakfast in America

One song you will never forget is: Roger Hodgson - Had a Dream (Sleeping With the Enemy)(1984). This song and video is unforgettable!! The run time is 5:42. Thank you!
There was such talent in the 70's
Another phenomenon British 🇬🇧 Rock Band formed in London in 1969, great reaction thanks 🙏
Definitely more Supertramp. As soon as I saw you hearing it I knew you would like it
The Band and The Staples, The Weight, (The Last Waltz).🙏🏼❤
You've got to do "Long Way Home" next. Then you will be ready for "Goodbye, Stranger". Rabbit hole of variety.
Great song! The Logical Song is so good and unusual! 😊❤
"Dreamer" by Supertramp is equally incredible
Right? I noticed it too! The lyrics definitely apply to today’s political world
Sorry, wrong time. I noticed his reaction at 7:37
Yes there are times when so many bands sound the same.
Yes please, more Supertramp. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with their discography.
Love Supertramp.
Yes more Super Tramp

Four of the BEST concerts I ever saw at the old Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton.🇨🇦🇨🇦
Me and my buddies played this album “Breakfast In America” over and over and over again! Great memories!!
One of the best bands ever in my view. Great appreciation. Try 'Fool's Overture" live to get a taste of their more epic side.
Still just crossing songs off of my list left and right!! Lol Love Supertramp!! Take the long way home, Goodbye stranger, Give a little bit, & Dreamer are just a few of their more popular songs!! They are definitely worth a deep dive!!
Supertramp Is Awesome ,,, Breakfast in America
The London-based progressive rock band Supertramp got their name from The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp, a 1908 novel by Welsh writer William Henry Davies.
Take the long way home Dreamer give a little bit and it's raining again all great songs 👍
Supertramp was always a musician’s band. Exceptionally skilled. The lyrics were a bonus.
It's a gorgeous song. Heard it all my life, having boomer parents. First time seeing them. Great song react!
Listen to more Supertramp 🎼🎶 they’ll move you every time . And just as good live If not better .. b-b-b-b-b-bloody marvellous 🎶
John Helliwell on sax, killed it.
I enjoy your reactions to classic music that i grew up with.❤ one of my favs.
The singer was sent away from home to a boarding school in England. This experience inspired this song.
