PRO CONTROLLER - been using backbone since released and loved it. Since upgrading to iPhone 15 been looking for something to replace but nothing ticked the box until I spotted this and your review made up my mind after a few minutes. So ordered straight after 👍
Mobile gaming is evolving rapidly, and it's great to see the accessory industry keeping up. I can't wait to see what comes next as mobile phones continue to surprise me every day!
Lol! What games is better on phones? Instead of evolving it's dying. The last good game on phones were Subway Temple Run Angry Birds and some more.

Looks really nice, iPhone camera bump and case removal were what made me return my Backbone, so this is looking like a pro controller option 🤙
Yeh, removing my case every time on the Backbone is a real pain. This has already made be swap.
Perfect!! Exactly what I was looking for. I always get pain in my right wrist while playing with the Backbone controller.
Much prefer the symmetric layout of the sticks instead of the Switch-like design.

Immediate thought from the thumbnail was whether it uses lightning or USB-C. Likely upgrading my iPhone when the new ones come out in a few months which would mean a port change so happy to see this one uses bluetooth with no lag.
This one's perfect as I can pull the trigger now and get a controller now rather than wait until the phone upgrade.
Another surprise was the price considering it's from Scuf with some pro controller features plus the app integration.

closest controller I've seen that has everything I want. wish there was a port in addition to the bluetooth and allowed pass-through charging. otherwise close to perfect for me!
Yeh that’s the only negative for me too (but not necessarily a hard negative), adding USB-C would actually make it perfect. But it’s close.
great high quality video as always man! I think having to connect it to bluetooth and needing to charge it is a dealbreaker for me I just want a plug and play solution like the backbone. I prefer the scufs ergonomics though!
Yeh it’s a tough call. I mean 16hrs is decent though.

I think this is better than having a portal. I almost planned to buy a portal but have now changed my mind to buy the Nomad controller. This controller can support any iPhone model, including my 14 Pro Max, since it connects via Bluetooth.
Yeh makes sense if you don't want to carry the Portal around with you too.

The SCUF Nomad was almost the perfect mobile controller. I question the decision to put the right thumbstick above the ABXY buttons. Other than that, it looks great.
What makes the G8 controller better is that it is direct connect instead of Bluetooth. Direct connection eliminates latency.
Nice review! I do wish this comes with a cooler fan like GameSir X3.
Is there any input delay over Bluetooth compared to other controllers that connect via USB-C/Lightning?
Honestly I’m gonna have to check this out again because for £100’i feel like it’s worth it for a pro controller like this

I paired the SCUF Nomad to my PS5 but is there some other trick that I need to do to use the Nomad as a normal controller on my PS5?
Can you map touch controls to controller with app. So games like Wuthering waves that don’t yet support controller work with it?
Decent enough product, but with the mobile video games market. Still growing mainly through smartphones.The lack of Android support is definitely a missed opportunity. The mobile video games market is massive, so not having Android support was certainly a bad decision. It is a larger video games market than Windows PC or consoles. So I don't know what the people behind this controller were thinking.
Honest question man I just bought a ps portal and happy with it but would you say this is better for gaming through ps remote or ps portal the better option? 👀
For the PS5 the Portal is better for the dualsense controls and the larger screen (plus it uses the full screen, whereas the PS App on iPhone has those black borders). But for mixed gaming (Xbox, mobile, Apple Arcade, GeForce Now) this is a great buy.

This seems like one of the best ergonomic mobile gaming controllers on the market. BUT the lack of a wired connection between the controller and the phone means no way to charge the phone with the controller attached:/ Huge miss on Scuf's part

Atlast a mobile controller that DOESNT have offset analogs! Yessir! It looks cool af too though personally I'd opt for the white version. The only downside is no android app but ah well.

Finally there is a controller that has symmetrical thumb sticks placed in the upper part of the controller, but of course it's incompatible with Android phones. Just my luck per usual.
I hope this can be modded like the g8 Galileo to fit an iPad mini

Just measured it, it stretches to about 168mm wide.
Better than Gamesir G8? A bit unsure about it being bluetooth and not hard-wired.

Now I am thinking about buying one for my own. I tested the Backbone already but was very unhappy with it… The thumbsticks felt very inaccurate especially when playing FPS. What is your opinion on aiming with the Nomad?
And as I am also more a PS Remote guy, would you advice be to buy the nomad or go for the Portal?

I’m a mobile streamer and I use the razer kishi v2 and it’s an amazing controller, all mouse click buttons and it runs off your phones battery, it works for iPhone and android and over all is a great mobile controller by renown company Razer. But why I’m watching this video is because I want professional quality thumb sticks on a gaming controller. The Razer controller is much like a switch joycon which is fine. But but to play heavier games like apex I just need something more. So I’m gonna give this one a try because scuff is the controller king
The only thing I’m concerned about is the fact you can’t charge your phone while playing. Also I like that the backbone app integrates cloud gaming. So close to being perfect for me. Think I’ll stick with my backbone
Not a fan of it being bluetooth. Hopefully they give the direct connection options a run for their money with another controller

This controller is awesome! Thanks for the review. My only concern is that my scuf ps controllers never last long. I wonder how long the nomad controller will last.
The fact these Hall effect sticks is a huge benefit for how long it’ll last.
Their are no dual controllers being made but dual controllers will be the move when more mobiles games come i have a s24 ultra and its amazing with Performance but when its hot its hot hot so making a controller to be dual will benefit gaming so much more since bluetooth connection improves as we speak

So can't charge phone while gaming on this thing if putting in a longer session. Kinda a selling point for me and the fact its not on Android yet.
I'll stick to my modded Gamesir G8 running backbone launcher for now.

It is just I have not seen bluetooth without a lot of lag. I have to run my new headset with the 2.4 dongle because the lag is so bad using bluetooth. It is bad enough that in games words do not match the speakers mouth. On the forums they said bluetooth is good for music but not gaming.

I really want that controller
Not sure if I’d ever want to go back to using a Bluetooth controller for my phone. USBC makes it less laggy in games and easier to setup and can work on various devices iOS or Android. The only great thing I see with this controller is the customizability and the option to use the phone in Tate mode. Then again iOS offers no option for software overlays for games that don’t support controllers in the first place.
For that price it’s good, especially when it has hall affect sticks, but personally when I game on mobile, I use my own built PS5 pro controller. Although there’s supposed to be latency when a PS5 controller is connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth, I barely notice it and it’s still very responsive. I have two PS5 pro controllers, one I use for PS5 and the other for mobile gaming
For when I’m travelling I use a phone holder for gaming controllers and it attaches to my PS5 controller and if I get desperate to charge, I have a small portable power bank
Talking about Pro controllers, I also think it’s a waste of money paying hundreds for one, when you can build one yourself for £40. I use ExtremeRate for my PS5 controllers and they work brilliantly
Yeh same, I’ve never noticed the latency/lag at all over Bluetooth.
