Thank you, Benjamin Garrett Thompson for your service as a United States Marine. Grandpa, you are my inspiration for joining the Corps and I will never forget you.
To me, the memorial epitomizes all of the United States' armed forces, past and present, not just the Marine Corps. Thanks, Grandpa, for everything you did: Sgt. Stephen J. Tasy, D Co., 708th Amphibian Tank Battalion, 6th Armored Division, U.S. Army; Pacific Theater 1942-1945. 🇺🇸
the us marine are a bunch of degenerate donkey's stfu and gtfo here and 🔫 your wife and kids and of those who lost their useless lives in the battlefield..
@@jeegunugger1871 There’s a good reason you sit behind your screen saying this I don’t think I really need to elaborate but with how slow you are I bet you just might need me to😂 Have fun living in our shadow!
When I visited the memorial on July 4 2023, I did not see any mention of the Battle of Guam. My Father served in that campaign. The people of Guam certainly honor the efforts of the USMC in the liberation of their land
The Memorial needs to be re-done. Why? Because it is not representative of the iconic photo taken of it by Joe Rosenthal. Harlon Block, who planted the flag is not represented correctly. Also, Rene Gagnon and John Bradley were not involved in the flag raising. All involved with Rosenthal's photo were Marines.
A terrible and gruesome battle in the war against Japan as 6,819 brave American soldiers gave their lives in the battle against imperialist tyranny in February 1945.

That's more lives lost than the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan combined.

Thank you for your post, however, they were not "soldiers". They were MARINES! Soldiers are the U.S. Army.
