- Heroes Return To Normandy: Video Highlight
June 1, 2018 the Best Defense Foundation took 8 WWII Veterans back to Normandy where they fought.
Dick Klein - 101st Airborne Division
Francis Turner - 17th Armored Engineer Battalion of the 2nd Armored Division
George Ciampa - 607th Quartermaster Graves Registration Company
Jack Myers - 692nd Tank Destroyer Battalion
Jack Foy - 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Division
Boris Stern - 424th Infantry Regiment, 106th Division
George Smilanich - 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division
Clinton Riddle - 325 Glider Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division
While in Normandy, we visited the Brittany American Cemetery. It was a solemn time for all of us as we looked out at the sea of white crosses that represented so many heroes who lost their lives way too young. While we all stood in silence, Jack Foy began to speak. His words left us all speechless and so proud to be American. Watch the video to hear it!
Please enjoy watching their marvelous return back to France.

We wish we can do everything thing for our WWII veterans, but sadly most of us can only show our gratitude by pressing a single button.
Yeah that ja right👏👍
Evdry time I see anyone with military insignia, I say hello and thank them for
for their service! I've had some interesting RESPONSES ! One elderly man had Marine insigna, so I stopped to thank him! I said I see you're a Marine! He was sort of bent over and he said well I was", then I said " I thought it's Once a Marine, always a Marine"! He thought a minute, then straightened up and said"Well, I guess I am!" And as he walked away, he was a little straighter!
I was happy to know my daughter and granddaughter are both following the tradition too!
god bless you all for you bravery..my grandfather fought in North Africa for the UK and moved on to other theatres, luckily he survived the war and was the most loving grandfather one could ask for...when he got twin boys in 1967 , we always called him Pa .He was the same loving great grandfather for my daughter who called him Pa too, I am know 54 yrs old and have 2 grandkids and it was an honour when my mother, wife and daughter asked if would be called Pa! :)
My wife an I visited Normandy in Oct. 2018. We experienced a lot of the places shown here. It was a sobering experience and I am honored to have been there.
Jose Flores Such an amazing moment. Republicans and Democrats truly need to take a deep look into what they truly stand for. Putting party before “we the people” is not what these men put their lives on the line for. They didn’t fight for fellow republicans or fellow democrats! They fought for “WE THE PEOPLE”!! The propaganda machines are working overtime to divide and conquer me and you! If our society would distance themselves from the propaganda machines we could truly work together to drain the swamp!

Like today I cant sleep but only thinking about the brave men jumping out of airplanes into a completely occupied country and of the men storming those beaches and mostly finding their horrible deaths in so young ages. My great grandfather was a (german) Sniper in Normandy, he used to tell me a story, where he was sitting in a tree at night overlooking a trench of americans and then heard a trumpet. He didn't shoot anybody that night, thought of his family at home, (his wife, sister and my grandfather (his son)). In the morning he surrendered to the americans. He also told me he wanted to find that american soldier who played that trumpet, and so he did, before he was sent on that boat to the UK where he was sent to a POW camp, he found him. He returned 2 years after the war back to the family, but didn't hear of the american soldier anymore. He sadly passed away last year on the 7th of June.
Pretty sure that's the same story found here on UA-cam, told from the trumpet-player's side.

Thats very true. However, even though i'm just 13, i broke down in tears many times while watching this video because it just shows how courageous these veterans are. Just imagine, they went onto the perillous battlefield and fought for not only their lives but their country, the lives of their brothers in arms and the future generations. It saddens me that there are not many world war veterans left for they were the best generation of people. Full of bravery and selflessness. Many of their brothers, lost in the war, so long ago, and having gone back to the cemetery where they lie, is so heartwarming. There is nothing that we can do to fully repay those mighty, strong, fearless men.🙏🙌😪😓😥

@@antidegeneracy7769 Polish borders was moved many times in our history. Poland dissaperded from the maps and was reborn again many times. I dont know which lands you talkink about. If You talking about Śląsk (Silesia) if you lear the history then you should know that in the end of X century it was a Polish lands in 960 yr the part of capital Polish Kingdom. The land which german stolen from Poland in something about 1300yr. So first inviders, first land thiefs Was Germans. History shows that Germans people wants always fights they love wars. But in the end they always lose and must pay compensations for all bad things and they always want to minimize the guilt. Soviet's after II WW take from us lands in the east of Poland and never give it back. One things what we get from russia is 30 yr of slavery. In the Katyń was murdered more than 7000 Polish Officers. We must remeber that Germans and Soviets was the biggest agresors in Europe. Not Americans not Poland, Greace, Italy or French, but German and Soviet Russia. That's why Gdańsk is now in Poland because it's a kind of punishment for German pride. If the americans were not good guys so what was talkin about A. Merkel on 75th anniversary D Day? She thank americans troops for the liberation of Germany from the occupation of the Nazist? WTF is she flying away? Which lenguage they say Nazi? I dont whana fight with You i dont wana teach you about History of Europe. Go back to schooll and learn about it.
@@antidegeneracy7769 wut? merkel is a traitor to europe? she's the one fucking keeping it together
Anti Degeneracy change your choice of words before you get fucked up
God bless you gentleman, from a grateful brit for your sacrifice in aiding us and our alies in ridding Europe from the evil regime
@Adler do u think Axis powers did nothing wrong or something?
@Adler You know whos statements you are maybe unknwoingly repeating? Thr ones of Herrman Göring. He did the same as you do he didnt see the crimes he only saw that he lost the war he talked nonsense like you are now. Nazis werent put for trial because they lost but because of crimes
@@germangamingvideos6069 Were the soviets ever put on trial?
@@sebastian3217 No and I think that was absurdly wrong.

"Look at these old warriors together here today, they're yesterday's heroes. We were soldiers once when young, the vibrant youth of that time. Men who were here at this terrible battlefield."
Thank you to all Vets! Past, present & future. Thank you isn't enough.

@@HermannderCherusker9 Thats wasnt the US, that was Merkel. :D
@@Blaukritonjust remember, there were no ,,good guys'' side in WW2. The axis were facists, while the allies were either colonial powers which oppressed foreigner countries, communists or the Usa which has been in constant war and ,,intervention'' troughout its history.
Very good england speaks.
Respect to English, American and French soldiers who fought against the Third reich and helped the USSR.
Greetings from your ally Russia!
Respect for all heros ( marines, normal people, etc. ). WW2 is not only US, UK, French or USSR armi.
Same to you too from America both my grandfathers was US WWII veterans but also 2 of my great-great-uncles was Nazi SS soldiers and that fought on the Eastern Front against Russia.
Strange how later in life you find out these things but it's only because my grandmother on my dad side was German.
Dont forget the other soldiers such as Italian, Polish and German for example
What about Polish soliders? We lost almost 10 million people in the war!
telbaaa and the germans and italians
Soldier's don't die they just fade away🦅
Even tho they are dead, they're still alive in our hearts
As long as we will remember them, they will never truly die.
Respect to the Greatest Generation. We will never forget your sacrifice. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇨🇦

There isn't enough honor and gratitude SHOWN FOR THESE Giants! They gave all they had to keep the world free, and especially able to have our lives and families to live as they want, not to be ruled by dictators that would view us only as mere servants to their wishes!
My gratitude is to all of those dedicated men and women that gave so much to have made a country in which I have been able to live and do as I please, not to have to bow to the wishes of ANY KIND OF DICTATOR!
THANKS TO YOU ALL!
@@patgarrett2152 you think now u are not ruled?) Just illusion , there is a plan of your live , school , army , job , death , and you pay your country ) are you really free?
@@egorb6441 I was free to choose to go to school, study hard to make good grades! I had the choice to go to college, and again study , work hard and graduate again, with a 3.9 GPA! I was also free to marry the love of my life, work in several different fields,
(some had sheep in them, some had sick people and some teen AGERS, 35 every hour!
NO ONE TOLD ME WHAT I COULD OR COULD NOT DO. I DID EVERYTHING I TRULY WANTED TO, AND IT HAS BEEN A GREAT, FUN HARD WORKING LIFE THAT I CHOSE! And by the way, as a teacher, on your first comment it's your Life, not your live, sorry couldn't pass it up on a re-reading, old habits die hard, a laugh for both of us!

My deepest respects to these heroes. Your bravery will never be forgotten. Your memory will be passed on from generation to generation, and we can never thank you enough for being able to live free thanks to you.
Thanks ALL military man and women thank you and GOD bless you ALL .... From The new generation A Combat Veteran🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎖
Pablo Delgado Such an amazing moment.
Man darf nicht vergessen das es auch Deutsche Helden gabt.🇦🇹
gab nicht gabt
Stimmt ..! Es gab auch Deutsche Helden. ..!
The day the last Veteran of WW2 passes into the eternal . The finest generation . We will weep not in sadness . In triumph for the heroes they were . For it is our job to remember the sacrifice of these brave men .
I haven't met any of these heroes but I wish that they wouldn't leave us. 🇷🇺🇫🇷🇬🇧🇺🇸
In my eyes, when he says "the warriors of the greatest generation, the generation is taking there final curtain call." it hits deep. But to me that curtain will never fall, for the show will always continue to those who were given a future because of them. The memories and stories from them will never end, as they have been carved into not only history, but the stone and hearts of every human being. The curtain may drop, and the members may leave, but the show will always remain. GOD bless the warriors and heroes of old and new, may you rest in peace.
A GREAT THANKS, to Those Veterans WWII, you"re HEROS, definitively in Your HEART. THANKS SO MUCH.
I'm sorry but why are they heroes just because they didn't let other countries soldiers to go home to their families...
I don't just mean the U.S. but the whole world... yeah they fougth for the civilians to be able to go to sleep in peacefully, but if no one would've fougth no one would have to save their countries... I hope you got my point.(Sorry for bad English )
