This is to prevent mold, pest, and insects from eating it within the flower.

What kind of fertilizer you put on Dragon Fruit to bear more flowers
I LOVE your channel. Thank you for such thorough information. I do have a question regarding pollination. My husband's coworker gave us some cuttings. We don't know the varietal....How do I know if it is self pollinating? Thanks
New SUBS here 😸, love ur channel stay safe
Thanks for subbing!
I was looking for info on dragon fruit and the decorative top of the wall in your thumbnail caught my eye, I think we're in the same neighborhood haha. I'm glad it did though lots of useful info here, thanks! What variant would you recommend for a beginner and/or what's your favorite tasting one?
love that shirt!
Yeh it's an awesome shirt I want it badly. where did you get it Richard?
Thank you!
This was a gift to me from Epic Gardening!
@@GraftingDragonFruit Cool!
Perfect timing, I'm building my trellis today and transferring the plants I got from Oceanside! Do you ever add another cutting or rooting plant to the 20 gallon pot later? I only have 3 cuttings now, but hopefully my Asunta 3 offshoot will root and I want to add that later to the pot. Loving your vids, I'm super excited to start growing dragon fruits!!!
you may put a small container in side of 20 gallon pot , just reserve a place for your 4 th cutting in there later
Hi Chris, I do add another cutting or rooting plant into the 20 gallon pot later after I have other cuttings that are ready. Just make sure you leave room and plan it out to add it in later. I have't had any issues with doing that but obviously its best to do it sooner than later because the other cuttings may root and steal the area for you to plant a 4th cutting in the future.
Ooh I live in Oceanside. Where did you get your cuttings?
I am new to growing DF, would love to learn with your sour patch kids!!
Me who is about to order a cutting: YES, YES, YYYYEEEESSSSS
Woohoo!
Hi E1, I want order some of your dragon fruit plant cutting . How could I contact direct to you for ordering . Tieu leander TX
Hi Richard. Saw your youtube video by accident-totally love it!! Got hooked!! I just started growing 4 V White & 1 Red (in pots w/ ground roots)last month. So far very quiet... When & what fertilizer to use? Thanks if you can advise. (You need to attach an external Sony mic on your camera to bring up volume in your video...."
Welcome aboard! Thank you, I need to improve on my setup to make this volume better. I use chicken manure twice a year for fertilizer. I use Floranova Grow and Floranova Bloom for my liquid fertilizer to increase growth.
Hi Richard love all your video did make my trellis like your i just want to ask a question is it good to plant two different varietes in the same pots ? Someone in the comment can help me ?
How often do you water them?
Thanks for posting this video, i am interested to know how much yield/fruits you get out of each pillar ?
Saludos desde Peru
Hi Richard I have a half wine barrel will this be ok for dragon fruit, great video thanks.
Hey, love the videos! A question about cuttings. Do you know if I can plant a cutting taken off a young Dragon Fruit which has not yet flowered/produced fruit, and still eventually get fruit off the new plant started from the cutting? Or should you use cuttings off plants that have already flowered? Not sure if it makes a difference and wondering if you know. Thanks :)
Thank you for sharing. How long will the Dragon fruit tree last in the 20 gallons container?
Rich,do you put tags on each of them to keep track of the different varieties , what's the best fertilizer for them and how often do you fertilize them ?
Very helpful. My cuttings are about 2 weeks along and are pretty healthy, but are just a tiny bit brown by the edges. Do you have any advice on how to end that issue?
Great Video you are the Master of Dragon Fruit Plants. I have one question How long on average does the cutting that you put into the 1 gallon pot take to develop roots. I live in South Florida and my concern is planting the cuttings in my Large Permanent container and having it exposed to the sun. The card board for protection isn't really a good idea because we get rain every day. So I'm thinking its best to place cuttings in the one gallon pots and keep in the shade until roots are developed. Thank you
Liked and subscribed a while ago. Thanks for another helpful video. I have one question, Is having different varieties in one pot a good idea? I saw another UA-camr say it's not a good idea to have different varieties because they compete in the pot and maybe different types of dragon fruit is more vigorous than others?
I imagine having different types in one pot is good for cross pollination though.
I wanted to know if you could plant any type of different varieties together or if they had to be specific? I want to build 2 of these structures and plan to plant dark star, physical graffiti, purple haze, pink panther, voodoo child and the yellow variety palora. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!
Thank you for the tip my friend.
Yeh the sour patch kids variety souds AWESOME. Can't wait to (maybe?) order a cutting from you. (when you put your cuttings for sale when you get some.)
This series is going to help me SOOOOOOOOOOO much Richard! When I get my cuttings (maybe from you?) I will do my best to follow along and do everything the same as you show me.
That is my goal to create a tutorial to following along with to encourage others to grow with me and produce fruits successfully!
Sounds good!
I learned many things from u
That is great!
Sir what is the other type of trellis that we can use for dragon fruit? Also I have 2 white colored dragon fruit cuttings and 1 purple variety, can I put the three together in one 15gal pot? Or should they be potted separately? Also will cactus soil mix work for them? We don’t get the soil mix that you have here. Thank you.
Hi there, I am new and planning on building my first dragon fruit trelli. I see that you placed different cuttings on the same pot, is it okay to put different cutting? or is there a special rule?
I like your durian dragon fruit shirt 😅
Thank you!
Love it, I need pots for the dragon fruit. Where can I purchase the pots, do they need to be food grade Type 2? Thanks
I'm more amazed that you do this without wearing gloves.
Hi Richard newbie here from South Florida, I bought at publix 3 varieties, the best we liked was the yellow with the white inside, we like sweet tasty stuff lol
I would love to try growing some please, thank you
Hi Vivi, ill be listing cuttings for sale when my website is done the end of this year. Subscribe to know when its done.

@@GraftingDragonFruit thank you I just did now 😉
Hi Richard, can I plant two different types of dragonfruit on one trellis, eg red and yellow? I have got space for one trellis only that grows 4 red dragon fruits already. It is still small and has just reached the top of the trellis. I was wondering if I can add yellow to it? Btw love your channel. Thank you for creating amazing videos!
Hi Richard
I just got about a dozen of newly cut branches. I did not realized that you have to mixed it when planting for pollination purposes! I'm not sure which is which? So what do i have to do before I transfer them to the big pot? And also I think I'm in the wrong season starting it because Winter just started in Australia. Would they still grow? Thanks very much in advance Richard. I hope you can help me.
Great getting started video. I wish you had it a couple of months ago.
And i have a question. When planting in the ground, how big will a DF rootball get in diameter and depth?
Thank you, a rootball for dragon fruit planted in the ground can be crazy big because they arent limited to root space.
Grafting Dragon Fruit 2 feet? 6 feet? 12 feet? Every plant has an effective maximum size. And do they go deep or just surface roots ( top 18 inches or so) ?
How long does pollen last? I wanted to get some pollen from other variety dragon fruits for my white fruits. The white fruits meat is fairly sweet, but I've seen videos that show using other pollen to end up with red sweet fruit.
Hi.how many time you putting water in a week for new plants?
Hi Richard, i so far can’t find info on preparing cuttings. You mention callusing for 5-10 days before starting to root them. How do you keep them for that time? Cool dark place ? Sunlight? Warm? Dry? Humid? Or does it not matter? Also, will they only root from one end or would a piece cut from the middle of a
segment root from either end?
Hi good afternoon.
Is it safe to say that it is ok to grow different varieties of dragon fruit plants in the same pot?
Nice video! Is there a bubble at the bottom of the pots you use? I bought mine online and it had a bubble at the bottom so the trellis didn’t sit flush so I dug into the wood post a little for it to sit flush.
When I go purchase my 20 gallon pots. I make sure that bubble isn't there. I've had issues with the trellis not sitting flat with that before and now I just use concrete base to weigh it down.
hey there, new subscriber and fan here. I watched a few of your videos a couple of days ago and this morning I walked passed a house with a massive dragon fruit plant. and so I knocked on the door and asked if I could get a few cuttings. They had no idea that it was a dragon fruit. they thought it was just a cactus kind of plant with beautiful flowers. the granny said that the dragon fruit has been in her yard for almost 50 years and had no idea that it is a fruit and it is edible. there was still two overripe dragon fruit on the plant and so I cute it and they liked it. I'm very happy that I have cuttings from a dragon plant that is almost 50 years old. I just hope it will root. It is winter right now where I live. we have mild winters and I just wanted to know if the roots will grow during winter or should I get cuttings again in spring time and try and root then?
Hi Richard , I do leave in Florida and do have small dragon fruit plantation. 9 pots with trellises all together. About 6 varieties is my total, but looking to get a lot more. Do love to share my experience and cuttings as well.
Which dragon fruit plant is self-pollinated
Good video, Richard, where did you get your 4x4 cedar wood? All the local big box stores in my area stock only pressure treated wood.
You can grow them in a container.
If you were only planting two varieties in a pot, would a 10 gal pot using 2x2 trellis work well? I am limited on room and growing in zone 6. Need to bring them in and out as needed. Thanks.
how many times do we water it in a week...thanks GBU
Richard, I'm in Zone 8a on the Eastern Seaboard. We don't get too cold, but we have a week or two where it may get to low 30's and maybe 20's. I built your design trellis and wondered what you'd recommend to cover them with on those days. I can't bring that inside obviously, but a cover could work.
Hi Rob, what I recommend is you can cover them with some tarp, add Christmas lights underneath to raise the temps a bit from 30 to maybe 50-60F as long as it doesn't frost over you'll be safe. The tarp and christmas lights should project enough to get them through the week.
Hi Richard been following you for some months and watching your very informative channel. I’m amaze with your different DF varieties. BTW how big is that Fox Farm potting soil you use for 20gallon pot, where can I buy some with better price, and do you sell your cuttings? If so I’m interested, please let me know I’m starting to grow some. I just have two American beauties now and ready to replant. Watching you inspire me to grow different variety. Thanks!
Welcome aboard! I buy my Fox Farm potting soil at local hydroponic stores. They will have it the cheapest at your hydroponic stores. If you can't find fox farm you can purchase "Kelloggs Patio Plus" its a great soil that mimics fox farm soil mixture.
Nice shirt 😎
Thanks! 😁
How do you know what kind of dragon fruit you have? I just moved to Florida and found one in the over grown garden in the backyard. I'm so excited to start growing!
