Reaper looked cool in the Job Actions Trailer. Now, I'm really hyped to level one. It looks like some macabre union between Samurai and Red Mage.
I saw aspects of Darkknight edge of shadow in it but on target instead of onself.
Which level do they start at though? 80 or 70?

Great video. I'm glad you say it looks/sounds more complicated to play than it actually is. I definitely want to pick it up as my melee DPS. I mained DRK in FF11, and was super sad it became tank only in 14. I'm incredibly excited to give Reaper a try. Thanks for this video and giving me great insight into the job and its inner workings.

Reaper has its own Heavy Thrust, Litany and tons of SAM's skills.
Blood stalk is basically Jump.
Gallow + Gibbit = Fang & Claw + Wheeling thrust.
Plentiful Harvest = heavy weight Geirskogul.
Front & Back illusive Jump sounds useful.
Most skills have insanely high potencies and a lot of utility skills, hell, even have spells to cast which reminds me of Iaijutsu's cast time.
This job is like DRG + SAM in one job.
Basically build-up Kenki gauge to enter Blood of the Dragon phase.

Trying to follow wtf Sage was doing... went completely over my head.
Following this though? DPS-brain has switched to the 'ON' position, Reaper has been downloaded, I am READY to assume control.
It's just amusing to me. I mostly only ever play DPS, with OCCASIONAL tanking, but I was looking forward to giving Sage a try cause it looks so cool... but MAN, it is pretty clear which way my brain is wired :p

Sounds like it has a bit of similarities to DRG. With how Blood/Eye of the Dragon works. Just add on another layer and all that.
And how using one enhanced rear/flank attack enhances the other.
This, basically eye of the dragon phases.
Not to mention it's a Maiming Job.

6:37 those cost purple balls, not blue ones. You get a purple ball for each blue ball you spend with the upgraded Gibbet, Gallows and Guillotine

Really happy about this, i was kinda worried about how it would play, but this seems like something that could fit me better than my current DPS jobs, so i think i might just about have a new main DPS in a couple of months

Looks fun. Zep got max level stats and had to figure out mechanics within a timeframe. We'll have to learn as we level up, making the class WAY easier to learn rotations. Still, grateful for the vids and blue ball puns 🤣

The artwork of the Hrothgar reaper is incredible
A harpe is a type of sword/sickle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpe ...mythologically used to castrate Uranus so yeah, sorta fits with the theme here.
PSA Gibbet is pronounced Ji-bet it was a medieval torture / execution device which was basically a small metal cage mounted on a gallows where the unfortunate person was caged and left to die of exposure /starvation and the body left on display as a warning to others.

I am in a conundrum, in that I got my first job to 80 (MCH) but don't find any of the other jobs, particularly the melee dps, very appealing. This very much might change that. It looks awesome and I can't wait to try it out - hopefully I get to ShB and finish it within this coming month!

I only started playing a few months ago (I'm another WoW refugee) but when I heard that the next FFXIV expansion was going to add a job called Reaper I knew it was my calling. I even started as a Dragoon to prepare.

Wait, is that the Mages Sisters as the boss fight of the level 81 dungeon at 8:32? It looks like NPCs/Trusts in there, which means it's 4-man content, not 8-man.

To be honest I wish there was never a lion race, or at the very least not with a roegadyn build. Everytime I see a hrothgar in game I immediately can't take them seriously. Race looks so hilarious
I think Communio should be a two hit attack like Dream Within a Dream. each 500 potency. for the blast and the blades coming up, cause it looks like it's hitting twice.
