You can use it with screens or an encore mon like wobbuffet. Or you can use redirection in doubles. I don't think it's inviable in the slightest

The feature where caring for your Pokemon allowed them to avoid moves and endure hits is nothing new. Gen 6 did the exact same thing. On top of those two features, it also allowed them to automatically heal status conditions in battle and land crits more easily.

You didn't have to use it if you didn't want to, but if you did, it was basically god mode.
Exactly, it's there you get the special animation too (like when you have a shiny) in gen 6
I mean it did nothing in like wifi battles it just made in game stuff ridiculously easy. I didn't know it was a thing in x and y til it actually happened. I'm guessing shofu didn't spend a lot of time petting his Pokémon in pokeamie.
It was a Pokemon Amie thing, if they had full "hearts" they'd get more crits, avoid moves, get an auto Focus Sash, stuff like that, obviously only in-game, it never affected battles online, and I think the Battle Maison also disabled it

Wait trick room doesn't always go last what? It's only because Pokemon are made to be slow. If your opponent is slower than you, you still go first. If Intsruct works on opponents, then you'd be able to instruct on Trick Room. (If you're slower than the trick room user of course, maybe use a lagging tail or something, or was it iron ball? Hmm...)

Reason Pikachu and Eevee got exclusive Z move is mostly for TV show. I'm pretty sure either the rival or traveling partner for Ashe is going to have an Eevee.
I also think that Catastropika is meant for Ash and his Pikachu.

Z stones are in the z bracelet. Pokémon do not hold the Z Stones. All that is required is that the Pokémon know a move of the same type as the Z stone in the bracelet. As for exclusive Z moves, all they require is that the Z stone match the species of Pokémon it correlates to.
+Knight41b I thought so too, but Pokémon.com clearly shows that Z-Stones are held items in the Pulverizing Pancake trailer, which says "After Munchlax Evolves, HAVE IT HOLD a Snorlium-Z!"
Midnight Form Lycanroc really is underwhelming. You have this one pokemon with a priority rock move, literally something that has never been seen before and is an invaluable advantage it has. And they choose fucking COUNTER for the other like wtf.

Seems like both versions are 1-for-2 in version exclusives- Passimian is very niche and Midnight Lycanroc is hot garbage currently (still looks like a faster, more offensive rock type), while Midday Lycanroc and Oranguru have a buttload of potential.
I'm kinda disappointed by it because I love werewolves and have wanted one for a poke for YEARS. But I'm still gonna be optimistic about this for now. Might have good defenses to complement Midday form's Speed and (probable) high Attack.

Arcanine uses Outrage on it and it loses about 60% of its health. Base 110 attack, 120 power move, non-STAB.
Not looking super bulky- hoping that it's still fairly fast and offense-focused. And who knows- Accelrock could be an egg move for Rockruff.

A Garchomp or a Dragonite uses Dragon Dance and their ally uses Instruct on them and then they start using Outrage. Imagine how screwed the enemy team would be.
Instruct instructs the target to use the last move that they used.
In your scenario, doing what you said to do would result in Dragonite using Dragon Dance twice in one turn, which would still leave the opponent screwed. :3

Drastically would make Eevee's stats somewhere around 350-450 each depending on nature, so not that broken imo. There are already like a dozen mega evolutions that put pokemon's stats in that range and they're in OU.
if you played with your Pokemon in gen6 it had the same benefits, only thing new is curing status. if they loved you, they would dodge attacks, earn more exp, hang on to 1HP, and shake of status conditions.
Yeah, the dodging and holding out from fainting (works like a focus band) was also a mechanic for X/Y and ORAS through use of Pokemon Ami. Get them high enough level in Ami and they will act differently in-game.
They'd do little things like turn to look back at you, waiting for instructions and dodging attacks and all that for those who took the time to play with them in ami. It's a very cool feature I actually really liked in X/Y.

The move Passimian used the in the trailer was either a dark or bug move bc it was super effective of hypno and neutral to type: null. That doesn't sound right for a fighting type so maybe the move changes type based on a held berry. They mentioned berries a lot in its description. Just a thought

I gotta agree with Shofu on Lycanroc's Midnight Form. The design looks cool but the fact it doesn't get a unique ability and gets a move that other Pokemon gets is underwhelming.

The boosts for taking care of them is already in X/Y and Or/As Amie, they're battle perks you get for high affection. Not applicable in player/player battles of course.

Obviously not counting Gen 1, they tend to do Eeveelutions every two gens. Whether that's on purpose or not, who knows? But I wasn't expecting a new Eeveelution personally. I'd say this confirms it.
Travino.EXE well normally they bring a counter parried with it. 2nd gen umbreon counters espeon. glacieon counters leafeon, so it was kinda strange sylveon didnt get a pair. I was expecting a poison or dragon tbh
I'm surprised no one seems to have picked up on something obvious. Remember how rockruff shared a secret with the starters? well guess what guys, this means that not only do the starters have a split evolution but the split evolutions are version exclusive. Have fun with that~
Evo-boost eevee with that adaptability return and stored power will be a threat for sure. Baton pass and something else in the 4th slot for good measure (unless the z move actually takes up a move slot.)
lycanroc midnight doesn't seem good. I feel like the extra dark type would've been good for it. It could've learned moves like sucker punch and knock off. it probably will learn these moves but they won't be stab. but if it's attack is as absurd as the description is trying to make it seem, then It might be good. But if it's Shtick is that it uses counter, then it wouldnt be fast...so many questions that only stats will answer
I'm really sadden that it's not as spectacular as the midday form. It's basically gonna be a cool version of Golem. :But like you said, time will tell in stats. D:

I was sadden that its day form is gonna be overshadowed because its design seemed plain compared to the night form. Seems balanced, but I can see the anime pushing for the midnight one more.
Hopefully his attack and defense will be good, so that he can wreck opponents and still take advantage of Counter like they want him too

Oranguru is going to be ridiculous for doubles. Think about Setup moves. Double Dragon Dance, Double Quiver Dance, Double Calm Mind. It's going to be a God at helping your team setup and sweep.

Pokemon Amie had the same 'dodge moves and live ko" in x&y, but yeah it only worked in-game and not online use.

Yo that Eevee Z-Move gave me that vibe of Super Smash bros Megaman Final Smash Move, when he calls in all the past Megamans to launch that huge attack.
The whole 'survive with 1 hp or dodge a move' thing was already in XY I think. It got triggered when your pkmn had more than 2 hearts in Amie or something like that
Shofu did you ever use the Poke Amie feature in XY/ORAS? Poke Refresh is basically the same, except they upgraded it with being able to cure status conditions. Once your mons are max affection or happiness or friendship or whatever it's called, they get an edge in battle in the story mode of the game, but not in WiFi. The advantages in battle included increased crit hit ratio, dodging attacks, curing its own status conditions, and surviving hits it normally wouldn't

Pokemon Refresh is basically Pokemon Amie 2.0
This game so far is literally everything we want about Pokemon done right!
Shofu most of the refresh was in x and y and oras you could feed them and play games with them and when they max out affection for you more critical hits they sometimes live with one HP and sometimes cute their own status conditions like poison it's actually pretty good when your actually playing the story

if you max out affection of a pokemon in pokemon amie, that pokemon will be able to do all that stuff that is described in the pokemon refresh page, except curing status conditions.
