Anyone else wish that instead of the sand castle Pokemon they just made Alolan Grimer and Muk look like sand? Say they washed up on shore and slowly their sticky goop turned into sand and they become a ground type or something related to that.
Maybe Alolan Grimer and Muk will adapt to live in volcanoes and become Fire/Poison types. So they basically become Slugma, a literal pile of lava, but with toxic gasses emitting from their bodies.
My friend told me their are crabs that actually never go into the sea and are exclusively on the land. Im pretty sure this pokemon is based off that. Which is pretty cool.
Sandygast DOES take damage from Water attacks before activating its ability as seen from the trailer when it gets attacked by Razor Shell from a Shellder before activating that ability, so yeah that ability doesn't offer "Water immunity" sadly......
Timmy Reobed Still isn't good as most prevalent Water moves are *special based* (i.e. Surf, Hydro Pump and Scald) so it is NOT gonna benefit THAT much against Water type users (except for the few that use Waterfall). That ability would've been better if it did raise *BOTH* defense AND special by 1 stage (like Cosmic Power) or 2 stages if the developers wanted to make it super OP IMO.

motor drive's description is when the pokemon is hit with an electric type attack so I think water compaction would actually provide an immunity since motor drive doesn't specify the electric immunity
Water Compaction does seem to work like motor drive, in the trailer they show a shelder using a water move on a sandygast and the sandygast doesn't take any damage

Makes more logic than: random floating rock with eyes, random pokeball with eyes,random pile of sludge with eyes,a snake becoming a big fat guy with antennas. The bear is SO ADORABLE.
Makes some sense that it would be immune to the water. As a sandcastle it absorbs and "compacts" the water to make itself stronger. It's not hurt by it, the water was compacted to make harder sand. Not sure if it will be immune, just saying it does make some sense.

Imagine him finding it adorable and continuously trying to hug and carry it but it flails in protests. Then it evolves into Bewear and constantly makes team rocket lose battles because it just wants to crush James with hugs and affection. Bewear could totally be his new Victreebell
I think most of the aloan pokes will have different form for each of the four islands. (like the dancing bird) the ones that dont have full forms will have small differences like the sand castle's flag/stick/shovel thingy

Like maybe there will be a new berry based off a coconut and if you level him up after a specific point holding said berry he can evolve? But maybe as a trade off he loses some of his movepool I'm exchange for boosted stats?

Normally, at least until Gen 6, when an ability prevents the damage from an attack the attack animation doesn't show. This, as well as the fact that Sandygast is shown with low HP when the ability activates, makes it look like the ability triggers after taking a hit, rather than absorbing the hit and raising its Defense. Although they could be changing things up in Gen 7 and only had it low HP to mix us up, who knows?
Sandygast and Palossand are required to be hit and take damage as shown from their trailer. So the ability is not great considering most water moves are special anyway so the defense boost is doing nothing. Plus taking super effective attacks.
I thought of something for sandygast it said if he/she loses their shovel it will replace it with a flag,tree branch etc. so does that mean you can find different ones with different things in their head
