Sadly, my mom died exactly 5 months to the day before my parent's 50th anniversary. She had aggressive cancer, and her local congregation through them an early anniversary party. When I heard about it, it brought me to tears. I wish I could have been there, but they lived in another state, and I didn't know they were going to do it.
Kenny Rogers, R.I.P., has been quoted as saying he never wanted to sing a love song unless he felt it was something he would actually want to say to the woman he loved. He was a class act all the way around.
I'm glad you discovered the music of the legendary Kenny Rogers. "Lady: was written by Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers recorded the song and it went to #1 on the pop charts for 6 weeks in 1980. Kenny Rogers was known for country story songs and love songs. My favorite story songs that I'd recommend you try are "The Gambler" and "Coward Of The County". The love song ballads of his that I'd recommend are "Through The Years", "She Believes In Me", You Decorated My Life", "Love The World Away" and "Crazy". Fun “Behind the Song” story; In a 2012 Lionel Richie tribute, before Kenny & Lionel sing Lady together (really good. link below), Kenny tells how he called Lionel, to write a song for him. When they met for the 1st time, Lionel had only 1 word, “Lady”, & a bit of melody. 6 months later they’re in the studio. Kenny recorded the 1st verse, asked where the 2nd verse was & found out that Lionel was in the toilet, writing the rest of the song. In a later interview, Lionel adds to the story, making it even funnier. He said, the 1 word he had was actually “Baby”, but when they met, Kenny kept talking about his wife, repeatedly calling her a “Lady”, so when Kenny asked the name of the song, Lionel blurted out “Lady.” ua-cam.com/video/vc8IN-FnRic/v-deo.html

Listen to "Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers.
RIP KENNY ROGERS , Is this Just Beautiful 💗✨🙏✨👌

Kenny Rogers is a country legend. He did several duets with Dolly Parton that are totally great. One of his most famous songs, outside of Lady is the Gambler, and Lucille.
