I agree. Lionel and Kenny both are great on this and Teddy was good but not as good. The very best version is Kenny and Lionel doing it together with Kenny telling the back story. Those 2 men act like they love each other so much it was touching. Kenny alone here is my 2nd fav. version . Lionel is such a special man.
It's so interesting to me that I knew Lionel Richie had written that somg BEFORE I ever knew for sure! How crazy is that! I love them both - and the writing of this some is 100% Lionel Richie! Kenny Rogers - oh how I love that man, does such an amazing job delievering this to hearts all over the world. Every girl wants to hear this from her man!
Kenny is the best on singing Lady and lionel those two thier are the Best two that sings the song Kenny is know for this song Lionel wrote it for him and he Sung it Better than any one it fit Kenny and his voice
I cry everytime I hear this song has special meaning to me. This was the song I played when I proposed to my late wife in 1984 she died just a few weeks after Kenny. I was just a guitar player in my band but I sung this song with all I had at the end of our gig then I proposed to her. Think God she said yes.. it was the best 35 years. Rip Teresa baby. 😭
@@deborahbryan3639 yes it was a fairytale love story. I'll be alone the rest of my life. She died of cancer from the time we found out she had cancer until the time she passed away was only 3 months. it was a nightmare. thank you deborah..
Geez, I know that was painful. That was quick, you really didn't even have time to adjust to hearing she had cancer until she was gone. While we may be here crying our eyes out, she is probably up there having a grand ole time laughing, meeting people she knew and wanted to know and of course listening to some beautiful music. That's the way I picture it. Get out and stay busy enjoying the time you have left. One day you will see her again and she will ask, what have you been doing? Fulfill that bucket list, if you don't have one, make one and when you're ready don't do it alone.
Im sure Teresa was over the moon when her rockstar guitar player boyfriend turned into her rockstar husband! Thank you for sharing this story 🙏🏽 Teresa is most definitely smiling down on you when you hear this song
I'm a 63 year old mother/grandmother and I have a daughter who is now 35. I remember loving the hell out of this song when she was roughly 2 or 3 and I would dance with her around the kitchen with her in my arms, singing to this song and rocking her to sleep. Yes even today, she is still my little lady.
In a 2012 Lionel Richie tribute (where Lionel & Kenny beautifully sing Lady together), Kenny begins with the back story. He & Lionel didn’t know each other, when Kenny called Lionel, to write a song for his new album. When they met for the 1st time, in Kenny’s hotel room in Vegas, Lionel had a bit of a song (just 1 word, “Lady” & a bit of melody), which had been rejected by the Commadores. 6 months later, in the studio, Kenny recorded the 1st verse, asked where the 2nd verse was, & found out that Lionel was in the toilet, writing the rest of the song. In a later interview, Lionel adds to the story, making it even funnier. He said, the 1 word he had was actually “Baby”, but when they met, Kenny kept going on & on about his wife, repeatedly calling her “a Lady”, so when Kenny asked the name of the song, Lionel blurted out “Lady.”
The song was going to be Baby, the Commodores already had a song called Lady (you pick me up when I'm down). Thus he heard Kenny talking about his new Lady and reworked it. The Commodores were originally a Funk Band, I think they felt Lionel was trying to lead them in too far of a different direction. So, Lionel probably understands the Commodores could never have two songs called Lady.
Um sorry they did know each other. Kenny Rodgers and the first edition played for the same lable as lionel Ritchie back in the 60's they were the best if friends way back. Great reaction to a timeless love song! I agree with your analysis of both Kenny and Teddy. The one thing that may give Kenny the edge, is that he was truly singing to his wife. The feels where real. Also, many don't know that Lionel and his wife stayed in Kenny's guest house when they initially moved to LA. They developed a great friendship.

My mom was a huge Kenny fan (my dad could’ve been his twin and was a musician himself). This his brings back the memories of countless beach trips with her! Thanks for piloting this time machine ❤️
GREAT BREAKDOWN OF THIS CLASSIC TUNE, AND DAMN, NO DISRESPECT- BUT YOU ARE ONE PRETTY LADY! BRAVO...
Great reaction! I’ve always loved this song especially Kenny’s version. When him and Lionel perform this at the tribute show was the best! But this song is written for beautiful women like you! You can see the joy of music and of life on your face 😘 when you hear something that sounds good! Thanks for the OG reactions 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Incredible phrasing technique
Great reaction to a timeless love song! I agree with your analysis of both Kenny and Teddy. The one thing that may give Kenny the edge, is that he was truly singing to his wife. The feels where real. Also, many don't know that Lionel and his wife stayed in Kenny's guest house when they initially moved to LA. They developed a great friendship.
Great song with a lady with a great smile. Keep smiling and the whole world will be a better place.
Kenny really presents this song to that audience. A perfect example of how an artist sings a new song to his fans.
You are such a beautiful woman! Your Face, your smile and your voice are all such a treat. The music is awesome as well but watching your videos....its you that completes the package. Even the songs I know by heart are brought to life by your smile.
You need to watch Kenny and Lionel singing together and Kenny telling about getting Lionel to write the song!
Yeah that performance was epic.
Im alway singing this song.kenny got soul.lol .this brother can hold it down for all the ladies .💝☺😉
