"I wish I could serenade you in Kenny Rogers' voice." You guys are so cute.
Lol I loved that 🥰
I'd rather the Lady by Tommy Shaw with Styx
Agreed
We're waiting for that baby!!! You two are so cute!! ♥️♥️♥️
I hit the like button when she said "I want this song."
This was my mom & dads song. I just cried my eyes out. I lost them both in the last 5 months. 66 years married
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Prayers 🙏🏻
I offer condolences for your loss, I wish you well in moving forward in your life.
I started crying too when they played this video-such a beautiful song. And I am so very sorry for the loss of both your parents. Both of my parents have passed as well. 💔
This was my parents' song too.
Bless all of you💞
Lionel’s poetry and Kenny’s voice…legendary 💜
And Lionel wrote the bulk of this in a bathroom in 5 minutes. He told the story to Drew Barrymore.
2 master of Music....
SO TRUE.
Yes, Kenny and Lionel take us on a romantic journey!
@@KristineMaitlandwhile he was taking a dump
Went to a wedding where the groom sang this, as the bride walked down the aisle - it was completely unexpected. He barely made it through the song, and I haven't forgotten it, even almost 40 years later.
I wouldn't make it down the aisle without bawling. That's just awesome! ❤
Yes, this is absolutely a beautiful song. The perfect wedding song! A treasure for the bride. Ok, bye before I cry lol
I think my favorite song 🎶 in the whole world 🌎 3 times a lady- is the perfect wedding song, this one comes close.😊
Big thanks to Lionel Ritchie who wrote this song and Kenny just sang it beautifully 😍 ❤️
zX XS
I'm older and had the privilege of growing up to the majority of the music you play. I want to compliment both of you on your positive energy and openness to listen to different genres. Much respect!
Well said and bingo...very blessed to have grown up in such a time of great artists and music!
This music is beautiful!!
Lionel Richie wrote this song for Kenny! So He had a song written for him by Lionel Richie and a song written for him by the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees wrote Islands In The Stream for him and Dolly Parton.
The Bee Gees also sang Islands In The Stream as well.
lionel wrote a verse n kenny wrote one they talk about it in a video of them singing together
That makes so much sense! I was thinking about Lionel Richie while listening to this song!
I love the story I heard of how Lionel Richie pitched the story to Kenny.
Prince wrote You’re My Love for him as well. You should check out Prince’s version. It’s way different than the typical Prince style and different from Kenny Rogers style but I love it.
@@stlee25 lol ya n wrote his verse on toilet lol
You've listened to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton songs.
Now try their duet -Islands in the Stream.
Chris I was gonna say the same thing.
Yes!! And it was written by Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees, I believe.
Definitely
@@cathykrieg7669 I looked it up. It was written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb
Another great Kenny Rogers duet is WE'VE GOT TONIGHT with SHEENA EASTON. You already reacted to this song by the original artist Bob Seger, but they Kenny and Sheen version was a huge hit in 1983, a few years after Seger's version.
Kenny's voice was like whiskey mixed with smoke. Beautiful! RIP Kenny!
Perfectly Blended
RIP Grant.
Perfectly said 🥀👍🏻
Perfect comparison
Grant, great metaphor...whiskey and smoke! I think Kenny would love that!
You can really hear Lionel Richie's influence in this song.
He wrote it
@@alanwhetstone3922 yes I know hence my comment. His voice almost is transmitted through Kenny
He not only wrote the song, he wrote it for Kenny and he produced it.
I completely agree. Lionel comes through in the song. he such a wonderful song writer.
Yep, I think their voices are/were quiet similar. Did they ever sing live together, like a duet?
Kenny and Dolly Pardon sing a BEE GEES song they wrote called Islands in the stream.
Yes! Islands In The Streams will absolutely delight you both and make your day. Be sure to watch the live version, though--much more fun!
Definitely Definitely Definitely. OMG they have to do that song.
💯
true
Kenny was unfair to all other men. He had that voice, that handsome face...and that HAIR. That hair was supernatural...like his voice. It was thick, it was gorgeous white (not gray ). He was unnecessarily sexy.
until he got plastic surgery.
Almost like a Lion's mane
I wish more young people would listen to the "oldies" to hear pure talent and not machines, right down to the talents of musicians back then.
Back when artists were auto tuned in utero ...
Not every current artist uses machines
@@ellavader4411 Good way to put it; being born autotuned was called talent
It seems often today, that it's the sound engineers that have all the talent...they can take a crap voice & turn it into a gold record.
He did another ballad a couple years later called Through the Years about a couple who’d been together for a while looking back on their relationship.. If you think Amber melted with this song, serenade her with that and you’ll have to mop her off the floor.
Through The Years is the song my mom and I picked for the Mother / Son dance at my wedding. Great song. Hearing anything sung by Kenny Rogers reminds me of my mom because he was her favorite singer and it takes me back to when she was alive. Good choice.
I'd actually go with "She Believes in Me" over "Through The Years". Sorry.
@@francisseidel8014 it's my song for my mom too 🌷💘💐🌷💞💞🇨🇦🇨🇦
Through the Years, one of my favorites by him. Please react to this song🙏🏾
That song played at my aunt's wedding. I was like 8 years old and that song always made me cry.
Before his success with country music, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition had a psychedelic hit with Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Is In) -- give that one a shot! You'll be surprised, yet probably enjoy!
Thank you Jackie S, and it was a fun song. #Amazing70sFun!
I loved "Something's Burning"
Don't forget "RUBY"
I was going to suggest that song...a differnt Kenny for sure.
@@lyriasfaves written by the late great Mac Davis
Can we all agree that we just don’t get music like this today? Whether it’s Kenny, Barry, guitar solos, horns… REAL MUSIC that we’ve lost sight of by replacing so much of it with computers and gadgets. God bless you both Rob & Amber for taking all of us down memory lane and letting us share in your musical journey.
Carrie! You are right! Real music 🎼 is timeless! It cannot be duplicated! I love to see reactions from young people like Rob and Amber!
Great comment! ❤😊
My friend and I were in High School in the late 80s, and saw Kenny sing this song live. We were at the bottom of the stage literally at his feet. Goosebumps. (We were also the only teenagers there)
Yeah, I was crushing on Kenny in the 80's while everyone else was into Air Supply, Chicago, etc. He was my dad's age, lol. Didn't care one bit!
My high-school boyfriend took me to see him first. My parents took me the next year. During THAT concert, the second Kenny began with, "Laaaddddy....", I squealed, "BABY!!!!" really loud in that silence, and everyone around us laughed. They probably knew exactly how I felt.
My husband-to-be took me to the 3rd concert. Kenny was passing near us and I was able to touch him on his shouder. Hellloooo!
We saw him one last time before he died.
As much as You like Kenny and Dolly y'all should hear their duets like "Islands In The Stream".
YES!!!!!!

AND "Islands in the Stream" was written by.... Barry Gibb. Best of all worlds.
@@TheFinnschick True enough.

This song is OFF THE CHARTS. I can't imagine a female not wanting this level passion, devotion, loyalty, you name it, in her man! Kenny rocks this like no one can. I can definitely tell Lionel Richie wrote it though - Lionel is so distinct with his lyrics - really comes from the heart. He was the first person I ever saw in concert - I was in the 6th grade! Love 'em both!
And the two mean became lifelong friends after sharing the experience of creating this song.
According to Kenny himself, Lionel wrote the second verse while he was sitting on the toilet. 🤣
You’d be surprised what the ladies like these days😂
He makes them cry too.
This man's voice was liquid gold ❤
If you liked that, then Amber you got to hear Lionel Richie. Songs like Endless Love, with Diana Ross. And 'Still', 'Hello', Once, Twice, Three times a Lady, when he was with the Commodores, and so many more. Lionel Richel was the ladies dream! You will not regret it.
I love Lionel Richie, but there was something about Kenny's gravelly voice that truly got to me 😊
Yes absolutely!
Don’t forget Truly!
Lionel Richie Wrote this song
Lionel...Hello
Those who gave this a thumbs down .... Did you wake up on the wrong side of no one ??? Sorry for you
I totally agree with you Ella.
Haters everywhere 🤣
lol.....A single bed sleeper for sure.
37 incels did not understand this song.
They woke up and chose violence. 🙄
That's the song that every man who is in love wishes he could sing to his lady, and every woman in love wishes her man could sing.
The perfect meeting of lyrics, music and voice, and it shoots straight into the heart.
Yes, beautiful and yet so strong
Coward of the county is another song by the legend Kenny Rogers
My favorite Kenny song and such a great story made to music.
I was going to say the same!
If you like this song you need to listen to the Commodores… Lionel Richie most wrote most of their stuff and you can hear a lot of this kind of music and lyrics and what they did and they had hit after hit after hit
Lionel Richie wrote Lady.
The whole album DANCING ON THE CEILING is one of my all time favorites.
Plus the Commodores have horns!
@@Mrs.Patriot True!
While many people are commenting on hearing this in the late 80's I experienced this song when it came out in 1980. I'm proud of being born in 1965 the beginning of Gen X. From the late 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's we had the best of everything.
This is hands down the most beautiful love song ever written! There is nothing more beautiful than Kenny singing this!
Every week for a year I sang this song to my girlfriend at the VFW Friday Night Karaoke. Then one night I changed the last few words to, "you're the light of my life, will you be my wife?", and produced a ring. We have been married almost 11 years.
Congrats and thank you for your service.
❤️
@@Triskster Thank you so much. But I do not want any stolen valor here. The VFW allowed guests to come in to Karaoke nights, but I never had the honor of serving myself. I loved meeting and spending time with all the veterans from WWII to Afghanistan and all the deployments in between. It was interesting that the guys from the different eras had different songs they all liked to hear. The guys who served in Viet Nam loved to hear Knights in White Satin. I was proud to be asked to sing it for them several times. I loved that place. Sorry to say it closed down a few years ago.
That's a very inventive way to propose! You go!
@@vaughnweber0929 😢
Love Kenny Rogers. Sadly, he passed away in March 2020, but his music will live on.
Back in the day before I married my husband he dedicated this song to and we've been married for almost 40 years. I still love him. Great reaction you brought back memories thank you.
One of the most romantic songs EVER! His voice is so perfect for this.
One of the most perfects songs and performances ever.
My uncle drove his tour bus for 4 years. We called him Uncle Kenny. We lost a legend when he passed, but thankfully, we will always have his music. Many Blessings to you and your family. Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦
Shame he did not not more accolades at the time of his death.
@Hillsane It was in the middle of the first wave of Covid-19. There couldn't be the big send off like they did for George Jones. And he actually wanted a quiet send off with a Memorial Service at the Ryman later.
@@jenniferlehman326 Thank you for the info. I think news and entertainment should have still done more commemoration. Yes, he was not as active as when he was younger, but he was still an icon and legend!
@@hillsane9262 So true. I remember him with The First Edition so that's how long I've known about his amazing voice, then my uncle drove for him when he was touring with Dolly and Dottie West. Best Wishes to you. Jenn.💖
I think Barry would probably agree with Amber that Kenny is the better solo artist vocally. Two very different careers. Barry & his brothers wrote Kenny's biggest country hit, Islands in the Stream, which Kenny sang with Dolly Parton. Kenny fronted a group early in his career, the First Edition. You can check out "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town" .
Yes. Barry would step back and point to Kenny.
Oh yes.. Ruby is a great song!
I was going to suggest Ruby. I think they'll love it.
Islands in the Stream? Biggest hit? Um.... nope
This song was written by Lionel Richie, and it is everything a woman wants to hear all in one place. Men will appreciate this, but every word of this song speaks to women. And by the way, many women have thrown their bras on the stage with this man.
There is a video of Kenny and Lionel both on stage singing this-an amazing performance
And a few boxers 😜
Little trivia when Kenny got this song it didn't have the last verse. When he got ready to record it he?called Lionel. Up asking where is the last verse?? Lionel then wrote the last verse sitting on the toilet..
@@mandarinlearner Now that"s the version you need to hear.
@@1bigrowdy LOL
Amber, you reacted the way millions of ladies reacted to Kenny Rogers. His voice is butter and it melts your heart and sends good feelings throughout your body. To you young man, Kenny Rogers did have bras and panties tossed at him. He could steal anyone's woman with his voice and that song. Kenny's voice was like no other. It brings me joy seeing how you two react in the discovery of new (old) music that you haven't heard before. Keep doing you!
Amen
DITTO!!
One of you likes Barry Gibb's voice. One of you like Kenny Roger's voice. Do you know the connection between the two of them? Barry wrote 'Islands in the Stream' for Kenny and Dolly.
You've gotta check out "You can't make new old friends" by kenny rogers & dolly parton....they were close friends for many years. .thinking this was the last time they appeared together before Kenny passed away. Know we are really enjoying yr reactions ..you are great...take care, karen (tx)
I did not know that, very cool. Thank you. 😊
This comment is 100% correct. Nice you pointed this out. I wanted to type the same thing.. Credits to you John. 👍😉
I also want to say that i think that Robin Gibb whas the best singer of the Bee Gees. Well thats my opinion. Everbody is free to have one hahaa. Greetings Jacco from Holland
And this is a Lionel Ritchie song
Nobody can or ever will sing this like Kenny! 45yrs of marriage & the wife & I still tear up EVERYTIME we listen to this!🥲 Thank you Kenny.
He sings “I want to say I Love You” and the look that Rob gives Amber was so gentle. I just had to smile.
I highly recommend "She Believes In Me", "You Decorated My Life" , "We've Got Tonight", "Lucille" and "Coward of the County"
She believes in me is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
All great Kenny songs. He is truly missed.
Many to choose from but This could be the BEST LOVE SONG EVER!!!
Amber, Girl you don’t need to apologize! Kenny is just Kenny! You can’t duplicate this man! Lionel Richie wrote this beautiful song just for Kenny! That’s all I can say! This was definitely hit from the get-go!
The first edition - Just dropped in (to see what my condition my condition was in) it's Kenny Rogers! It's a whole different Kenny Rogers! Love the song Lady! Y'all stay safe!
And every women is melted on the floor....🥰
The “Silver Fox”! His voice sounds like the voice of an experience man who would give you everything. Every woman’s fantasy and that rasp in his voice…no one compares.
The Silver Fox was Charlie Rich. Another great! Charlie Rich was premature gray hair. Kenny didn't get gray hair until later in life.
The late great Kenny Rogers! RIP Kenny. Thank you for the wonderful music. You're missed by so many.
Always loved this song growing up ❤ The way you looked at your wife truly made me smile, I can tell how much you love her ❤ It’s refreshing to see younger people who love God and each other ❤️
Jordan, God bless you for loving Amber so much! You guys make me smile every day!🥰🥰
And that, children, is how you do it. I was a kid in the 70s and as a fifth grader I loved Kenny. The Gambler is actually the first album I bought.
Do yourselves a favor and check out Kenny and Dolly Parton's duet on "Islands in the Stream" that they performed live on TV. You have to see it. We simply don't have performers or singers like them. Also, the chemistry between him and Dolly is off the charts.
Loved how Rob placed his head on your shoulder and you placed your hand on his head. Beautiful, he cherishes you so much. 😊
“Lady” is the ultimate love song… he sings it like he means it! It has me totally hooked!
If I'm not mistaken Barry wrote islands in the stream and Kenny and Dolly sang it , good reaction material itself
You are correct. Barry Gibb did write Islands In The Stream.
Writing credit for Islands in the Stream is to all 3 brothers (Barry, Robin & Maurice). Barry also produced the album (Kenny's, "Eyes That See In The Dark.").
I knew some they wrote together and some individually , and so many songs others sang, they were super talents
This song came out about a year after I was born, so I basically grew up with this song, and to this day I can still listen to this song and get the feels like it was the first time. The voice gets me, the lyrics get me and the strings get me.
I love these older productions. No flying cameras, quick cuts, and no audience reactions. Just the performer showing his talent and singing a beautiful song. Rest in Peace Kenny.
Amber is okay!!! I will back you up with saying Kenny Rogers is better!
Kenny's better.
You guys need to listen to it again, Lionel Ritchie of the Commodores wrote this for him and they performed it live. It was great and you can tell they are true friends. It made me cry and just so sad since we have lost Kenny. 😪
Great reaction! This song was written by Lionel Richie for the Commodores, but they didn't want it. It was initially titled Baby. But when Lionel met with Kenny to pitch the song, Lionel said that Kenny was telling him about the lady he recently married. And how much of a lady she was. When Kenny asked Lionel what the name of the song was, he smartly said Lady. There's more to the story, but as they say...the rest is history.
Lionel Ritchie lived in Kenny Rogers guesthouse while writing music , they were really best friends
You guy’s are really awesome young people. It’s so nice to see you enjoying these old school cuts. 🙏🏻
Y’all need to react to Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers singing “Islands in the Stream”. You will love that song!
Yes!!!
I was just going to say the same thing!
I love listening to Kenny Rogers! I was fortunate enough to see him and Dolly in concert. It was AMAZING!!
Live performances truly show us the talent..they are the only way to react.
Thanks to my mom I grew up listening to Kenny Rogers. She every year played his christmas album while putting up the tree. He has so many good songs to listen to like buy me a rose, coward of the county, the last ten years, love will turn you around, she believes in me, through the years, you decorated my life, lucielle, and islands in the stream with dolly parton.
Back then singers were real singers. Kenny, Barry, Rod, Linda Rondstadt, Dolly…the list is endless
Linda Rondstadt's Blue Bayou was the song that made me fall in love with her
@topgazza the list goes on and on....Smokey, Stevie, Bowie, Mercury....it really doesn't end.........

The GREATEST thing about your videos is that you choose so many great classics.
The SADDEST thing is that so many of these legends are gone.

This is when love music was real thank you Kenny
Hi guys. You gotta listen to Kenny doing, don’t fall in love with a dreamer, beautiful song you would really enjoy it, and as always, keep on rocking..! Love you guys take care.
Another great song with Kenny’s duet with Kim Carnes!
Roy Orbison has range, he's the ultimate singer. Try "Only the Lonely."
Yep, among many other great songs. Yet another rabbit hole to visit.
“Running Scared” or “Crying” are a few other good Roy Orbison songs to check out.
This song really showcases Kenny’s voice. That raspy quality just pulls you in and you find you are holding your breath. I am always out of breath when I listen to this song.
Kenny and Dolly doing “Islands in the Stream” is phenomenal.
Yess! I hope they do that one 🥰

As one who is pushing 70, I love to see you guys discover the music of my life with so much intelligence and appreciation. To this day I love the soundtrack of my life!
Kenny’s “Lucille” - great storytelling song.
He also did an amazing duet in that same concert - "We've got tonight" with Sheena Easton. It is a must watch.
Oh yeah, How could I forget that one. A great song!!
@@pfcampos7041 and nobody's reacted to it yet. Everyone does the Joe Cocker version which is great too.

Actually the one where Dolly does it with him and makes fun of Sheena Easton is absolutely hilarious…and very well sung.
Rip to a great Singer & Actor Kenny Rogers we still miss you
Ok so how many women out there started bawling like a baby, at the thought of a man proclaiming his love for his woman like that without holding back, not trippin’ that the fellas would kid him about it, just a pure & unadulterated love song to the woman he loves?
CHEERS ladies, you are NOT the only one!!😉
There was a show on TV called "Blind Date" part of that episode's date was to go see Kenny Rogers live. He knew they were there and wanted to help the dude...Welll...it kinda. backfired. Kenny sang Lady (they never heard of him before) and after she felt like he was singing only to her and dude was like: "Man! I just lost my date to Kenny Rogers!"
Jay you are the most adorable man!!! You and your gorgeous wife are such a joy to watch!
There’s a lot of people in their mid thirty’s that were born because their parents listened to this song.
perhaps the #1 panty dropping song of all time.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever every would melt just to hear this thxs Kenny rip and Lionel for giving us this masterpiece ❤😢
I love this live version. Nothing beats though the studio version. That last Lady in the studio version.....I can't! Just go hear it!!!
I don’t know if this has been suggested already, but in the 60’s, when Kenny Rogers was a member of the group The First Edition, he sang a psychedelic rock song called “just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in” (ua-cam.com/video/AULOC--qUOI/v-deo.html) - pretty groovy, if you ask me.
Loving the reactions! 😁😁
Thumbs, I like that song.
Yes. You should react to that.
Wow man you hippie freak JOKE (:
I can't hear this sing without crying. It is soooo emotional and hits you right in your soul. The absolute most gorgeous song of all time.
Kenny got to perform this with the song's writer Lionel Richie and it was magic. Find some of the Kenny duets. He performed with Dolly on a few, made an album with Dottie West, did a cover of a Bob Seger song with Sheena Easton, and of course the awesome one with Kim Carnes "Don't Fall in Love with A Dreamer". "Daytime Friends and Nighttime Lovers" is a kicker.
Probably Lionel Richie most beautiful song he has ever written
The Perfect Song for the Iconic Legend Kenny Rogers, Gone too Soon 🙏🏻🕊️🦋
What's cool about this live performance from Kenny is that this is also the first time the people in the audience had heard this song too! Little did they know that it would become a #1 hit😊
When Amber eyes rolled back into her head, my thought was she’s gets it.
You kids had such a wonderful reaction! I'm old, My mom loved Kenny and As I got older I do as well. Thank You for your heartfelt reaction, It made me tear up😢😊
So glad youngsters are recognizing Kenny ..carrying out his legacy thanks new generations👌👏

I’ve heard this song for years (even back when it was originally released) and now with your reaction I’ve gained a new appreciation of it. Thank you. ❤️❤️
Legendary performance.
This is the music that was popular when I met my husband. Love the music, love the time. Yes we still see one another each and every morning. There's no other love like ours. Still ....... and for always................. His is the only love I'll ever need.
My god, this mans voice is unbelievable! This is Lionel Richie's song, and he sings it beautifully, I love both versions. It gets me very emotional. Xxxx
I remember hearing this on the #1 R&B stations in NYC and it sounded right at home. Not just because Lionel Richie wrote it, but because of Kenny Rogers' voice.
And he was also a good man away from the limelight . Grew up with his niece and saw Mr. Rogers at the Houston BBQ about 8-9 times . He was humble and a nice man . And to see you two enjoying this song with all your heart I know his family would love it . He was missed when he passed but that voice . My mom and dad said they were jealous that I was able to see him like that in the 80’s . But great to see your love for Mr. Rogers
Kenny Rogers and others like him make me feel sorrow for those who did not grow up in that time era. Love was an artform back then. RIP Kenny Rogers🙏🏾
