@@alex_4trthwhy use meat as a vitamin B12 pill? 🤷♂️
Beautifully explained. Dr Klaper is the best ♥️
If you believe that crap from Klap. Back then everyone ate meat, not vegetables. That's how they got B12. Just the same way his mother and his great grandmother got it. If they ate vegan, he wouldn't have been born.
Also important to note that the majority of B12 supplements are used in the animal agriculture industries.
For example, nearly all dairy calves are given B12 in their formula.
Chickens are often supplemented vitamins and minerals, and that includes "organic" and "free range".
If the soil is depleted in cobalt then that is added to the feed.
So people are still supplementing B12, just getting it indirectly through the life of an animal.
Simply take the B12 supplement directly and don't support animal exploitation.
Live vegan.
Support plant exploitation instead 😂🤩😂
I am vegan but I don’t want to take supplements
There are natural sources of b12, duckweed for example has a surprisingly generous amount of b12
I also drink from natural water sources sometimes & eat unwashed plants that I’ve grown.
every vegan feels that meat-eaters are evil because we exploit animals but they never talk about humans (companies) exploiting humans by providing vegan junk foods and vegan-ideology. go vegan, stop exploiting animals, be exploited by the businesses. laughable.
B12 is the naturally-occurring beneficial bacteria in your gut, not something you get from eating a carcass or dirt or even plants. All you need to do is stay away from antibiotics and other pharma drugs like antacids, which destroy it. If you're so worried about it, then just eat plants loaded with B-complex like lentils and beans, leafy green vegetables, and ground seeds.
Living Earth connected lives. I love that
Yeast Extract is a great and ‘traditional’ way for Vegans to get B12, and has been my only source since I went Vegan 35 years ago. 🌎✊🏽
There's no evidence to support this claim, but psychotic symptoms can be caused by b12 deficiency, so that might explain your delusional claim. Enjoy your neurological brain damage.
@@OtherwisePanic no evidence to support this claim?😂 Simple google search will give you an answer
@@mehakbharti6210 A quick Google search may tell you that some yeast extracts are fortified with B12 but yeast in no way contains B12 naturally. Yeast cannot produce B12 and they definitely didn't fortify yeasts 35 years ago when veganism was only a legend.
@@OtherwisePanic so? Even if they're fortified the point is that you get b12
@@mehakbharti6210 Yes, but you weren't getting you B12 from marmite 35 years ago, and definitely not in adequate amounts from fortified marmite today.
I am surprised Klaper didn't mention the primary reason for lack of B12 in vegetables today - many are grown hydroponically, so never touch soil or the bacteria that make it. the evolution of many plant species has included the development of mutually beneficial
symbiotic relationships with soil-borne microorganisms. In these relationships, both the host plant and the
microorganism symbiont derive valuable resources that they need for their own productivity and survival as a
result of the association.
Sounds like you are describing Fungi, but B12 is not found in plants in general, except one plant that has recently been discovered to contain B12, that grows in Africa, ‘Duck Weed’, I think it’s called!.

@@helicart There's much more than a small number of long-term vegans that have never taken supplements -- a lot of them have been interviewed on the Vegan Linked channel. B12 is a fear & marketing campaign targeted at the growing population of vegans.

Thank you plant based news and Dr Klaper for this excellent explanation of the Vit b12 issue !
Step one: Take a B12 supplement and put it in your mouth.
Meat eaters: Buy meat. heat up your pan. Put it in the pan for 10 min and wait all that time. Eat all that meat.
Also meat eaters: ''But its so HUARDDD to get b12 as a VEGUNNN : O ''
You realize as a vegan that you cook food too, yeah? Meat eaters kill two bird with one stone while you take pills that are know to be insufficiently utilized in the body.
@@OtherwisePanic at least we don’t kill any sentient beings tho 😌
A meat eater once told me that B12 is ONLY found in meat and therefore one cannot be vegan. I just quietly laugh in my normal B12 levels hahaha
you're neglecting all of the other nutrients in the meat. a steak is seemingly a full day's meal all on it's own
@@LucasTigy2 For real. Nothing beats a pound and a half cut of grass fed ribeye with a few tablespoons on butter top.
Very helpful. Just a note we don’t/can’t drink out of just any stream today because a lot of water actually does have harmful bacteria. So don’t go out and drink from your stream lol! And as to tap water, remember other countries don’t follow the same sanitary practices with their water supply so when visiting, drinking filtered or bottled water is better than drinking “just any” tap water. I ended up in the hospital once because my aunt was refilling mineral water bottles with tap water. My relatives’ bodies were able to handle it because they grew up drinking it; mine unfortunately did not. Not promoting bottled water here though; just the safer alternative to tap water you’re not sure about. Just recently switched to drinking local glass bottled spring water for the minerals.
yeah but if we were living our natural way we would have no problem with handling those bacteria
Idk about that, maybe in the u.s. there’s a ton of Africans who drink water that way & even dig for water and drink it that and are one of the most healthiest people on the planet

We have several apple trees in our yard and never bother treating them to prevent worms in the apples. Our son still eats them anyway. I’ve been wondering, however, from a B12 perspective, if we were never meant to have workless apples. Do the worms or what they leave behind contain vitamin B12? If so, is veganism using pesticide treated foods wiping out what would be a natural source of B12 if we just left nature alone? I’ve heard of vegans from India not suffering from B12 deficiency until immigrating to more sterilized western societies. Just wondering.
How do vegans get B12? They don't, and neither do junk food eaters.

I loved hearing Dr. Klaper's explanation... as a vegan, I know B12 is especially important for me but I've always wondered why and why we sometimes lack it. Yet another counter to many non-vegans' argument that we "need" animals for certain nutrients... it all comes from PLANTS!!
B12 doesn't come from plants. If you watched the entire video, you would know this ;)
@@ddpwe5269 It comes from the soil in which the plants grow... and it certainly doesn't originate in animals which are slaughtered for you to eat :) keep wasting your time arguing over this though, it's a great use of your time!

I’m confused, I understand that we took the bacteria that created b12 but now we are not. So if we know which bacteria, then can we take it? Like probiotic..
Great topic!
It's sad he's talking rubbish.
So, how much vitamin B12 do I need?
Very interesting!!
Wonderfully explained
If you believe it.
In Dr. Gregers presentations on b12 he mentions a newspaper story from like 1853 about a vegetarian man with b12 deficiency who ate meat again to get better, but why was he deficient if it was abundant in the soil and water at that time?
Good question. Dr. Gregor has very questionable ideas sometimes that seem to promote benefits in meat and dairy, and he has definitely promoted pharma drugs.
The truth is that what's called B12 is the naturally-occurring beneficial bacteria in your gut, specifically the lower intestine (just like animals). It's not something you get from eating a carcass, synthetic supplements, dirt or even plants. All you need to do is stay away from antibiotics and other pharma drugs like antacids, which destroy it.
If you're worried about it, then just eat plants loaded with B-complex like lentils and beans, leafy green vegetables, and ground seeds.
Thanks for the information on vit 12, Dr Klapper. I am also very thankful to Klaus for sharing his experience on his 6 years of veganism and then tested with without B12 deficiency! That has proven that a plant based diet can can provide all the necessary nutrients without any supplements which effectiveness is doubtful!
There are other vitamins that should be mentioned, B12 is actually easier to get than people know without taking a supplement. My levels are very high without one, because I eat a lot of nutritional yeast and consume other fortified sources. Strangely, it's one I know I don't have to worry about.
do you eat the yeast raw or do you prepare it a special way?
Until you have been a strict vegan for at least 7 years, you will not know whether you are eating enough B12. Most people don't start to have micronutrient deficiencies until 2-4 years on a vegan diet. They can feel great/light/clean in the first few years, then suddenly they are not doing so good.
@@LucasTigy2 Nutritional yeast flakes are a product, smells like cheese and can be used in the making of a vegan 'cheese' sauce, sprinkle it on anything, it's deactivated yeast.

What about the fact that we can produce vitamin B12 under the place that can absorb it? So, we can eat food with tons of bacteria, but the vitamin will be produced where we CAN'T absorb it. It is a flaw in our human body. So, is it really true what Michael Klaper says: "We provided B12 in the past eating dirty food and drinking stream water" or this is IMPOSSIBLE for our species?
You are absolutely right. Bacteria produces Vitamin B12 in colon, where as vitamin B12 absorption happen in small gut. Even if you eat all the bacteria from dirt, you will never be able to absorb any of Vitamin B12 produced by that bacteria. I am surprised that Klaper has no idea about human physiology!!
Hey Klaper! You're talking KLAP-TRAP.
Hi Dr Klaper, thank you for your video, I would like to know if you can be more specific about the brands and doses of B12 you recommend. There are hundreds out there with different compositions cyano vs methyl etc.
They also seem to carry many additives besides the B12. And they seem to have very large doses per tablet? Standard tablets are 1,000 mcg B12 which is 400 times the required amount of 2.4mcg/day. I understand that absorption plays a part of this but is 400 times the amount necessary? Thanks again.
Yes, I never understood that either. I guess it is what you say,,that the absorption and bioavailability of the B12 in the supplement is so low that you have to take a really big dose to get near the 2.4 mcgs in your system, and I guess the rest is excreted through the urine. But I am not sure of that, I can't get a clear answer to it on the internet. I don't know how much to take. If you find out the answer to the question, let me know.
@@davidsheriff9274 never did get a clear answer and it can be dangerous to take too much of any compound...hard on the kidneys and perhaps other organs...a piece of salmon only has 3.2 ug...so what's up. If you find and answer pls let me know.

‘There is no risk of an overdose when taking large amounts of vitamin B-12 such as 1000 mcg, because it is a water-soluble vitamin. Meaning the body will use the amount that it needs then the excess will be excreted through urine.’
Question to fellow vegans. Which of you guys eat mussels? I would personally continue to identify as a vegan and continue eating mussels. They are nutritious and are a good source of b12.
In my opinion, if you ate a WFPB diet and used muscles as a sort of B12 (and many other vitamins) supplements than you'd be adequately healthy. Synthetic supplements don't work well, don't let people deter you from achieving health.
¨Mussels are long-lived animals meaning they can live for several decades and in some instances a century or more. They often live in multi-species communities called mussel beds. These beds can support 30 or more species and are generally more diverse in rivers and streams than in lakes.¨.
So after sliding into veganism honestly due to a bout of poverty, I became b12 deficient and headed straight out for a bowl of mussels. I went back to eating meat, also thinking that veganism was a scam due to the lack of natural b12, and a year later I’m back on researching veganism more deeply again. I also believe that my best chance is largely WFPB with meat a couple times a month for supplementation.

Cheese and milk must be RAW and ORGANIC and Cultured for the bacterial

stringent factor of absorption issues in the GI tract as a person ages.
Supplement commercial B-12 is not advised as this questionable
supplement can have industrial waste sewage elements from my research on
the subject and this is not good. Any diet that needs or endorses
supplementation of any kind is in my researched opinion a deficiency
diet at best. Good to note that the original Dr. Max GERSON Therapy used
organic desiccated liver for the high vitamin A a fat-soluble vitamin
but also has a very rich source of B-12 as well. Muscle meat has no B-12
and is only found in the meats of organs if the meat is wild game and
grass-finished only and not just grass-fed that the livestock industry
does not want consumers to know the truth about the differences between
the two. The human liver does store B-12 but without it, the host will
eventually run out of storage and then all nutritional hell breaks out

This is a lie
you need to back that up. if you can i, and many others i assume, would be quite interested
@@eatpigsnot hey. They first obvious point is that during the time he is talking about, humans did eat meat. So what evidence does he have that humans got all necessary b12 from soil, when they were also eating meat at the time? Humans hunted and ate animals at the time he claims we were living more “earth centered lives”
@@lad8087 he did not say humans did not eat meat. also, just because humans ate animals, which were procured much differently than how we produce animal based food today, does not negate they were living "earth connected" (not centered) lives. the evidence humans got all the b12 needed is in the fact b12 comes from soil and soil comes into contact with everything we eat. the point he is making is for those who falsely believe we must eat animals to get b12. obviously we do not. and to show those who think animals actually make b12 why they are wrong. all your questions are answered in the clip. listen again. this time with no distractions. no petting the dog, no texting, etc... focus only on this for four minutes
@@eatpigsnot I'll back that up. Man made spears for a reason, and they didn't spear salads. If you can live on b12 from a vegetable diet anywhere in the world, advertise it. There has never ever been a natural vegan on this planet. That man is talking out of his bum.
@@toni4729 you think humans eating animals is natural? everything about it is artificial. what do you mean by "natural vegan"? also, neither the Dr. in the video or i said we can live on, or even get b12 from a vegetable diet, which is nowhere near the same thing as eating whole foods plant based
