  • In this video we took out the gas tank again in order to seal it up so it’s in good shape to go off road through some deeper water.

I'm about to have to pull mine. It runs fine and only leaks if you fill it to the absolute top. Unfortunately, it does give off a strong gas odor, especially when near full. What did you use as a sealer? I'm really hoping that I have a rotted line going to the evaporator, or something along those lines.

I used a heavy duty gasket maker that’s rated for fuel and other stuff so you can use that or if you look for the small hole where it’s leaking from just clean it off with a wire wheel and take some epoxy resin and cover it up really good.

Nice is that the newer model trooper? 177k is low miles for these things though so you can drive that for a long time. Mine has 277k miles so you’ve got a lot longer to go!

Hello, if you have time I was wondering if i could ask you a question. I have a 88 tank that is leaking out of the middle where the 2 halves meet. I have not pulled the tank yet but I don't know if I can seal it up. What do you think about a different tank....like not a T2 tank. I ask because I can't find an OEM tank. Just thinking of options. Thanks!

I’m in the same boat I was thinking of buying a new generic gas tank and welding a filler neck onto it that I could either fill it up through the original filler neck or possibly like by the rear bumper or in the rear floor.

But if you want to try something first I was able to get away with using fiberglass sheets and fiberglass resin to seal up multiple holes in my gas tank and it’s not leaking currently so I’ll see how long it lasts.
