    Steve,
    Thank you for you're speedy reply to my question below. I suspected that would be the answer but knowing that using only the tow/haul mode will undoubtedly cause me to use more diesel, I'd much rather do that than have to deal with overworking the transmission and causing damage due to abuse and it not being covered on my warrantee. And, FYI, I do always use the lower gears going down hills & mountains although I've noticed that the truck itself sometimes takes over itself and downshifts itself when it apparently knows it needs to be used.
    Again, Thank you Steve...you've been a great help!
    Scott

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  Рік тому

      You're welcome, anytime! It sounded like you knew exactly what to do just wanted to make sure. Unfortunate that you'll use a bit more diesel but comes with the territory when towing heavy.
      The truck brain is pretty smart when towing, so it's good to know you're actively paying attention to that as it shifts! Enjoy the drives this year

    I say this being completely serious - have you considered approaching the major manufacturers offering to make a start to finish video on how to set up and program a new vehicle for new owners?
    This video has 50 to 60 times more info than my sales guy gave me and has been great at tuning some set up stuff.
    Well done in both the delivery & clarity of information and thoroughness of each menu.
    Also, I commend you for inserting bookmarks and descriptions in your video.

    I have the 2022 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab, Lariat with the shorter bed. I have a 5th wheel Travel Trailer and have had a sliding 5th wheel hitch installed in the bed of the truck. My question is, that when I hook up and want tow the the 5th wheel, which option for towing gears do I select? On the dash, there is a trailer icon with all the settings that you already went over in this video, but also on the gear selector, the button on the end gives me an option, when pushing the button and scrolling, to go to an icon that looks like a trailer (just like the one on the dash). It is just next to the "Economy" setting (which I use all the time when not towing). Question...when towing my 5th wheel, do I select the icon with the button on the gear selector that has the trailer and do I just stay on that icon setting? I've been told never to tow in the overdrive selection so I don't over heat the transmission. Can you pleeeez enlighten me as to the proper towing settings that I should use whether I am traveling through the mountains or just on flat ground? Any and all assistance on this towing subject would be greatly appreciated!
    Scott

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  Рік тому

      Hey Scott! When towing pretty much anything the Tow/Haul mode is the best bet in order to eliminate excessive transmission shifting and improve transmission cooling. Be sure to switch to lower gear when driving down steep hills and don't continuously apply the brakes too!

      @@CarsWithSteve Hey again Steve, I have another question about tires on my 2020 Solitude 310GK that I bought 4 months ago (1 prior owner). I put new tires on it, MAXXIS ST235/80R16 Load Range G, 758KPA/110PSI. Everything I've read in RV Magazine, researched on the internet, including tire forums, etc., say that all RV tires should be aired up to what the "Cold" temp that is on the tire. That means to me that I need to keep them @ 110psi Cold. Everything I've read says that an under inflated tire will wear out quicker than a properly inflated one, which makes sense to me. I also have the EEZTire TPMS system on the tires with the monitor on the windshield. Now, it says to set the system a certain percentage above the COLD PSI, which I calculated to be 130PSI as a Max and I set the LOW alarm @ 90PSI. It also monitors the tire Temperatures. If I get a slow leak, and it gets below the minimum, an alarm goes off, if it starts losing pressure quickly an alarm also goes off. If it gets to the Max of 130PSI, an alarm goes off. I suspect that during warm & hot Summer towing, the tires will get very hot due to the road temp & outside temp as well as the PSI to go to or beyond the 130 PSI max. We take our 1st long trip in a couple weeks and I suspect that if the PSI gets too high, that I'll have to stop & let air out of the tires to keep the PSI down within reason and the 130 alarm setting. What about when I get to where I'm going and the next morning when I check the tires PSI and they read as being too low, do I go and add air back to them to keep them from being under inflated? This will seem to be a constant thing that may go on & on every trip I make. I don't want to wear out these very expensive, under inflated tires due to not having enough air in them but I also wonder what it'll be like spending a lot of time messing with the tires rather than Glamping like we intended to do to start with. Am I being too cautious or am I being reasonable about this approach? Also, what is a good rule of thumb for the maximum Temperature in my tires?
      Thank you in advance for any advice you may have to offer!
      Scott

    Great video and super helpful as I am looking to order an F250 of my own in the next couple of weeks. Can't decide between XLT with XLT Premium package or a Lariat with Standard equipment. Other than SYNC 4 and Leather seats, any other major differences?

    Great video! I ordered a 2022 Lariat f250 crew which I loaded with nearly every option.Can You tell me why you can’t get the power drop down running boards or the rear seat heater with the six seater(40-20-40 front seat) configuration.The running boards are a $1k option when you order but are $2k to add aftermarket and I don’t believe the aftermarket version syncs up as nicely as the factory boards in regards to optional settings through SYNC.I wish Ford would offer the ventilated seats front and rear as this was a major reason why I didn’t purchase a GMC or Chevrolet.These seats are a god send for people living in areas with 95 plus temps for a good portion of the year! Thanks again for an informative video.

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  2 роки тому

      Thanks John! The power deployable boards need a few other packages in the Lariat and cannot be added if you've gone for a few others. You need the Lariat Ultimate or Lariat Value Pack but you can't get them added in if you have certain interiors or any of the Chrome/Black/Sport Appearance Packages.
      The lack of heated 2nd row seats is because of the bench seat in the 1st row. The switches for heated 2nd would be behind the console which is why you can't get it with the 1st row bench. It's odd for sure but it's like that for a few different Ford vehicles

    I am very interested in seeing your upcoming payload video. I spent weeks trying to gain confidence in the payload my 2022 F350 CCLB Platinum order will have. The only options I added were the 5th wheel prep and retractable tonneau cover which I know are about 100 lbs each. Regardless, I'm still not confident what the payload sticker will say to within +/- 300 lbs which is meaningful. At this point, I am assuming it will be right at 4,000 lbs based on the 12,400 GVWR of the truck. Any idea when your payload video will be posted? Thanks for your detailed reviews.

    I've got the 2022 F-350 Lariat that came with the quad beam LED light package, but, that's because I ordered it that way. Almost 5 months after the truck was ordered it finally arrived at the dealer (12/24/21), the new truck replaced my 2016 F-350 King Ranch DRW. Both trucks are 4x4's with the FX4 package, 8' bed, 6.7L PS, crew cab. Wonder if the Ford F-250/350 still takes the prize when it comes to the most frequently stolen vehicle in the U.S.?

    • @CarsWithSteve
      @CarsWithSteve  2 роки тому

      I’d take those numbers with a grain of salt. In 2021 the F series trucks outsold Chevy by 30% and nation wide reports for most stolen look at every model year, not just the previous years model. So if Ford is outselling Chevy 30% yoy there are literally millions more Ford trucks on the road.
      Different articles on a few news sites say in the US last year there were about 41,000 Chevy trucks stolen and 44,000 Ford pickups. So technically Ford is winning the race. Ford outsells Chevy by 30% and is only stolen 7.5% more. I’d take those odds.
