Man I really needed this video. I play with my friends all the time and since my handles are so weak and I can barely do between the legs, I'm really afraid to even bring the ball up the court so I don't turn it over or make a mistake as bad as it sounds... And we are not even playing at a high level, it's just a game between some friends. I need to try some new things because I am so unconfident whenever I play
Yeah, I started playing last year around September and I can tell you, you're gonna have to accept you suck, you're gonna have to play more and try harder, and you're gonna have to deal with teammates not passing to you or respecting you. Like 6 months ago I couldn't even make layups, but after failing, missing, and being overall a bad player or teammate, the best advice to you is to remember everytime you miss now is another shot you make in the future. If you don't try you won't make any though. So shoot! Recently I am playing better, in practice I can make most shots that aren't 3 pointers consistently, and an important thing I've learned, is to calm down in game, relax, and be aware of the whole court. Who's next to you, behind you, where the ball is, where you are, where all of your team is, and to always have eyes on the whole area not just in front of you. And you won't make shots by freaking out and throwing as soon as you have the ball instead you should calm down and prepare your throw whether its to your team, or its to the basket. Practice is very important, inside and outside of games. Shooting well when you aren't playing is good, but its not use if you can't do it on a defender! Good luck.
@@drayott-jr Thank you so much man! That’s so awesome. I saved your comment, I needed to hear this. You’re amazing and I wish you much success in whatever you do
@@sandyscheeks9624 Yeah I know how it feels so I thought I would tell you what I know helped me out 👍 Also my bad cause I repeated one part of the video, didn't watch up to there yet 😅
Yes! I've learned a lot from this tutorial and I realize on how I will I develop more and more my basketball abilities and skills and the most important thing here is on how I use my instincts and sensibilities for my teammates and also on how to defend and shoot the basketball
Harden is an exception. He dribbles in one spot to bait the defender into pressuring him (and then drive past, or draw the foul 😆), or just wait for him to fall asleep. It worked only on the rockets, because the team and system was built around this. On the nets / 76ers, he doesn't dribble in one spot that much.
As a lacrosse player who sucks at basketball, watching this made me realize that most of the logic between lacrosse and basketball is nearly the same, thanks
Great video, thanks! Last week, I went to the park and played in a team for the first time. Until then, I only trained alone in the court of the building I live in (I'm Brazilian and my friends only want to play soccer). It was very difficult: I'm not used to run from one side to the court all the time, so I got tired very quickly. Besides, my defense was shit, one of my teammates criticized me a lot, saying that I seemed like a soldierin the mid of a gunfight. I was able to make a three-pointer, however. My team lost but I was very happy. After that I said to them that I never played in a team before (if I told them so before, they would not let me play hahah). Your videos will help me a lot!
Never pass, blame them when you lose, and take ALL the credit when you win. Just kidding 😂 Everyone has something to offer, you just might need to coach them a little on what to do
Hello coach i am new to basketball and i am 19 years old. But my height is 5.2 feet which means my hand is also small. Should I practice dribble with official size basketball to improve my grip ?(i don't have less than size 7 basketball) Can I use rubber gloves ? Because I have some problem in my hand due to which I can't dribble directly
Here's the free workout I mentioned at the end of the video ➡ gethandles.com

Dribbling too much in one spot: James Harden?

NBA is the one level of play where it's somewhat common to see exceptions to some of these rules, for various reasons 👌💯

keep playing with other people. it helps more than you think. but meanwhile also keep working on those skills.
