    This is super helpful thank you! So for a beginner would you recommend beaducation tattoo or fornax urban beater? Thank you!

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  2 роки тому

      Honestly I’m not sure I would choose either of those for a beginner’s very first set. They’re both fantastic, but fornax would be a rough one to learn on for lining up the letters (they’re small and squiggly), and vintage tattoo is more stylized and chunky than I would want to use allllll the time. For a first set, I would personally recommend choosing just a nice basic font, in lower case letters. Something like Jenna Sue or even a type-set type font.

      I have their vintage tattoo and I love it. The stamps are tapered on the impression end, so they’re very easy to line up. The impressions are very clean and sharp.

    I watched this video and your other videos for the first time last fall after finally getting some letter sets and supplies. I was re-watching your videos again last night. You are the reason I put duct tape on my stamping blocks and very happy about it! Partly because I couldn't STAND the greasy surface. Wiped as good as I could with paper towels before covering with duct tape. I got the Hobby Lobby stamping block on deep clearance along with what I found out is Curlz and Playground upper and lower and got the cheaper UNDIVIDED boxed ImpressArt Newsprint because it matched the Vintaj number set I'd gotten for leather.
    I have to say though, unlike you I DO liket Verona, also known as Delaney, which I was looking for and also known as Penguin. It is on the way to me in 6mm size from an Etsy seller as I type this! I'm the opposite of you on the feel of stamps, I like the DRY feel, can NOT stand the oily ones and have to work and work to get the oil off. Can't stand to have my hands feel dirty and the oil has a smell that bothers me. And WD-40, I'm really super sensitive to chemical smells so WD-40 makes me sick.
    Thanks to you, I now know that Bridgette and Angelina are the same font! The "Tiny Serif" that you have, I also got at Hobby Lobby and it seems to be Playground, also known as Kristen. I have mine labeled as Playground because it is similar to a scrapbooking die font set called Playground and it is playful. I finally broke down recently and started buying IA storage boxes for all my sets. Since I paid $5 clearance for several, spent MORE for the storage than stamps! But, worth it because I actually USE them now and don't get frustrated looking for each letter.
    Nothing I tried worked well for me including ammunition boxes. Those would cost me a lot more since I can't get any locally and shipping was terrible. The one I got from Supply Guy is too deep to easily get out and is black and hard to write the letter on it. I know he carries the deeper box because he carries stamps with a longer shaft than many. I like the IA boxes because I use my Sharpie to highlight the raised letters they have on the boxes. I just keep the larger and longer design stamps in that box.
    I wanted you to I really like and appreciate your videos, they helped me a lot. I'm sorry you aren't doing more, it looks like health concerns, I hope you are doing ok.
    Angie

      Angela Schmidt thank you Angie! I think you’re right about the playground/Kristin font. I appreciate your comments. I love when we can share different opinions on things. It helps everyone to learn and make their choices. ❤️

    I agree about the impressart stamps, I really like their alphabet stamps. Personally I am not a fan of bridgette (Even though I own it) or Jenna sue, I feel like the script-y fonts are harder to stamp and not easy for people to read compared to ones like Juniper. I love your idea of stamping everything on those bracelet blanks - will have to do that myself in my abundant free time ;)

    Hi there so I have a beaducation stamp set that I love cause it stamps really good and is perfectly straight. I'm like you I can't afford font fixation or stamp yours so the two I have been looking at is Morando and Urban Beader brands. Which do you prefer over the other? When I first started I used beadsmith only and they work great but they aren't even when I am stamping out and that drives me crazy so I would love some feedback. Thank you

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  7 років тому

      Stephanie Worthen Hi! I would say that if your main concern is lining up the stamps, definitely go for Morando. They are very easy to see where your stamp is on your blank because of the tapered tip. But I also love how crisp and straight the Urban Beader are. Morando has a bigger, octagon shaped shank. The urban Beader has a small, square shank if that helps visually for you to keep your stamping straight. Shoot I don't know how to choose! Haha! I just like them both for different reasons. I do know Morando has a good sale coming up if that helps you!

      imetbeethoven It’s because I’m an addict! 😂 I am happiest when I’m making pretty things, and I really enjoy having the tools handy to make whatever I like. I do sell some jewelry - a lot more now than at the time this video was made - but I don’t put the attention into my jewelry shop that I would need to in order to sell a huge quantity. My kids get most of my attention! :) I make a LOT of gifts and my kids stamp now, so they make stamped gifts too. I also use them to make samples for the blanks that I sell. I make a lot of jewelry for my church, and of course for videos! Truly though, I’m an addict and this is my collection. 😄

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  3 роки тому

      Most of the stamping people call their collections of tools, supplies, and equipment, their “stash.” So a “de-stash” group is a Facebook group where members can buy, sell, or sometimes trade items from their stash to other members of the group. Buying used is a less expensive way to build up your own stash. You can find those groups by doing a search on Facebook for “hand stamping destash” or “stamping destash” etc. And if you’re into other kinds of crafting/creating, you’ll be able to find similar groups for your other interests. Just search for the type of interest and the word “destash.” So “crochet destash” “pyrography destash” “scrapbooking destash” etc.

    I want a custom stamped oval ring and can't find the oval blank. Need someone to random stamp it for me as well. Can you find someone to do this? Also, is there an oval ring blank or is it necessary to use a flat oval blank (if I can find one) or do you use the flat black for stamping and then insert it somehow into a "frame" type blank after stamping?.

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  4 роки тому

      Edith Simmons Google and Etsy search are your friends. 😉 I don’t personally make rings like that, but the Beaducation channel would be a good place to look for that information.

    Hello, I started stamping about a month ago. I have the impressart stamp set Juniper and all the impressart tools needed. I am having trouble with my letters not showing up well? I ink them and the stamp itself isn't very deep. I actually feel like I am hitting the stamps to hard. so I go lighter and find I feel I have to hit it twice. /the ink doesn't show much because the stamp isn't deep enough? any tips you can share? I have the right hammer, the pad to stamp on, etc.

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  6 років тому

      Hi Kat! It does sound to me like you're not hitting it hard enough. If you're not getting a good impression in the metal, try hitting it harder. Can you tell me a little more about your process? So, I put the blank on my bench block, then place my stamp on the blank and give it a whack with a hammer. Then I use a sharpie oil based paint marker (or a plain sharpie if that's what I have on hand) to fill in the impression. I let it dry, then moisten a piece of old t-shirt with some rubbing alcohol and use that to wipe away the excess ink. Is your process similar to that?

    • @kats8839
      @kats8839 6 років тому

      Make It Kate yes this is the same process I use. I have the block I have the impressart hammer I have this the impressart ink everything I have is impressart so I know I have the right materials. I'm using my block on a fiirm surace, nothing that'll make anything bounce. I know at times I am hitting it hard enough because I can see it leave a mark on the opposite side. I'm using bracelets that are impressart aluminum same with my blanks. To hold my stamps I even bought the impressart stamp holders to help me get a better grip. Almost don't care for those because I can't really see how I'm lining things up even though it does hold the stamp better cuz it gives me a grip on it better. I was getting into the habit of hitting it twice because it's just not showing up that much. I watch videos of people stamping and I swear I hit harder than a lot of the people in the videos they look like they come straight down on the stamp and everything looks great. I am kind of sad and buy my capital A in my impressart Juniper stamps at it's like the bottom legs of the a are not long enough and it doesn't look like an a maybe it's just the font. I am looking at getting a different Capital font. I will try some more I will hit harder and see how it goes I appreciate you replying to me so quickly thank you.

    • @makeitkate3240
      @makeitkate3240  6 років тому +1

      Kat S Oh, I think it’s maybe your ink! Impressart ink is hit or miss and can be the WORST for sticking in an impression! Have you tried just plain black sharpie? I would also hate using the stamp holder. It seems like a crutch, which would hinder not only your ability to line things up, but all of the technique you learn by just practicing. You’ll get it! Try sharpie, and let me know! We’ll figure it out. 😉

    • @kats8839
