      Hello! This would be a great gift! We haven't made stamped cufflinks, but here's an idea. Find cufflinks with a flat disc, then stamp a blank and adhere the blank to the flat disc with E6000 glue. Hope this helps!

    Loved your video it helped out a lot. I do have a question for you. I’m new to all of it and I’m trying to learn as much. When I do my stamping I’ve noticed that it shows like a lighter shade on the back what can I do to fix it.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  3 роки тому

      It's kind of just part of stamping. You are manipulating the metal so you might see some of the impression through to the other side. Some things to consider. 1. Are you stamping too hard? 2. How thick is your metal? You might consider stamping on thicker metal. 3. Check out this video! It's mainly about double sided stamping BUT it's a good reminder that sometimes both side of the metal need some finishing attention :)

    may I ask, what's the best gauge and mm thickness for jumprings to hold circle blank pendants between 6-13mm ? I want something that I can rely on, and I've been using 0.7 and 1mm thick but unsure what's best. Does the hardness of the metal also plays a role I imagine? I wouldn't want it to be so hard that I make my life harder either haha, thanks!

    Hi! I am having trouble with the stamping leaving scratches on the back of my piece each time. I am using rose gold bars and metal block. If I hit it once it doesn't imprint enough so I have to hit it twice but not super hard. I am also using 1.5mm letters on this small bar. Are there any ways to avoid the back of your project turning into a mess?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  7 років тому

      Hi! Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. There are a few options. 1: You can use a thicker bar. This will put more metal between the stamped impression on the front, and the back. 2: Use a highly polished bench block. This way the imperfections from the block won't damage the back of your bar. 3: Stamp lighter. This may not give you the look you want, but would prevent the back from having the "shadow" from the front stamping. 4: Polish the back of the bar once you're done stamping. We have a class called Polishing with Power Tools that would be helpful for this. I hope this helps! Happy stamping!

    Can I use the hole punch for alpaca (new silver)? And I notice that your item is not flat anymore....

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 років тому +2

      the hold punch will work on most metals as long as they are 20g or thinner and not too hard. Yes, when stamping, sometimes it distorts the metal. If that happens, just hammer if back flat with a rawhide or plastic mallet.

    Hello, I got a question,
    Do I really need a metal stamping hammer, or can I just a regular one? Ive been using one that I had in my house and I don't know if it because is my first time working with this technique that I'm not having good results, or it is because I'm not using the proper hammer.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 років тому

      If you are using a household hammer for stamping, make sure the head weight a minimum of 16 oz. If you are not getting good enough impressions, check the weight of your hammer, make sure you are working on a sturdy work table, bench block does not have padding underneath. You don't have to use a brass mallet, but it does work great!

    I'm new to metal stamping and have just recently used a 6mm stamp on a copper cuff blank. I tried to fill it in stamp enamel the same way that I would for the 3mm metal stamps that I have but it doesn't really work that well. Have you ever used a 6mm letter stamp and if so, is this a common problem for you? I've tried to research this answer on Google but with no avail. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  7 років тому

      It should work just the same. Sounds like maybe you aren't getting the 6mm letter deep enough. Try using the tilt and tap method or striking the stamp harder.

    So my hammer must not be heavy enough because I have to hit it like 20 times and sometimes it's still not enough...I have a short hammer with a metal top piece...I would like to be able to stamp with 1-2 strikes. What do you recommend?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 років тому

      You might try a 16oz (1lb) hammer or even a 2lb one. It makes a world of difference. Also, make sure you are stamping on a bench block and using metal soft enough to take the impression. Hope this helps! Sorry for the late reply!

      it's very suitable to sell. We have tons of customers making and selling jewelry from aluminum. Certainly there are higher quality metals but aluminum is a very affordable option.

    How do you not make it look so crappy? I mean, it looks all dented and dingged up.. how do you prevent that so it actually looks half decent?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  4 роки тому

      The metal is being manipulated so there is no real way to prevent indents in the metal. However, hitting the metal too hard can make it worse, you can use thicker metal and also it requires some finishing techniques like sanding or polishing.
