Our voyage into space is nowhere near as impressive as Russian or US American. There are a few things we can claim though. Apart from mentioned, certain engineer named Mieczysław Gregory Bekker provided theoretical base for development of lunar rover (LRV) for Apollo missions. On a side note, this vehicle had a competition from Grumman Aerospace Corporation - their rover designed by Stanisław Rogalski.

@@KarasekUS Yeah, minus the medieval times where we had some occasional tussles like the Stephen the Great ones and the ones where we were on the Ottoman side (cuz No Dignity from the boyars)....at least mostly from the Moldavian/Wallachian perspective (Moldavia even appeared in that one Poland meme that shall remain nameless and only partially accurate). But being Transylvanian myself, I'm pretty sure there were 0 conflicts with Poles (Leși [pronounced Leshi] we sometimes call you guys) on that side of the spectrum...well....only because of Hungary and...yeah...its complicated. We never invade bac!
(except that one time in WW2 with USSR but tbh our hand was forced)
And yeah we stood up for the Czechs in the 60s, as well. Honestly, this might be an exagerration but we always had very good relations with the Slavs since Roman times.
And there is a funny saying about the 2nd siege of Vienna and how it was done:
We [Wallachians] broke/sabotaged their artillery and wasted their [Ottomans] time while the Polish Winged Hussars broke their morale and the rest of their numbers and saved the day" or sth like that.
Yeah, despite us being on the Turkish side, we sabotaged them from the very beginning in any way possible (putting hay and faulty cannonballs in the cannons to minimize damage on Vienna's city walls, stalling for time with reparations over Danube, planting a cross with a double meaning in order to raise morale for the besieged and stuff like that). Then when the final battle took place we just spectated from our camp. Not once we were suspected.
And just like you shit hit the fan once the forces returned home. Iirc your country got invaded or there was some political instability...as for us, our leader got betrayed and poisoned by a future martyr figure/ruler.

An alternative name of Poland would be "Lechia"

In certain middle eastern languages, they call Poland by "lech", as f.e. Lechistan in Turkish or Persian, Lenkija in Lithuanian, or

Fun fact, due to rules of evolution of language it appears that „Lech” means „man of alder tree” and it is mytholigical character same to Germanic Elf, Celthic Alpis and Roman Saturn. River Lech flowing through Lechhausen in Suavia (Schwabia) starts from the mountaintops where it was said that Alpis had lived (from whom Alps have name).
BTW. There was also a fourth character in this story of three brothers, sister named Karapat or Libia / Libusha / Lyuba who inherited lands in the south.

In old, Indoeuropean religion Devas were gods of visible phenomena and king-gods, while „entities”, the Asuras (Osiris, Aesir, Hades, Bies) were gods of invisible phenomena, and Jakshas / Jaxa / Jędze / Baba Jaga's(Yarga) were which-gods of utilising the nature.

@@cokurde No, this explaination is partially true only. It comes from the Roman times when a Roman spy wrote down self-name of local people as „Lugii”, Polish: „Ludzie”.
And „Ludzie” is propably plural form of word „Lech” which is local effect of evolution of millenia old name of mythological father of Indoeuropans.
„Lędzianie” was a mistake of translator or a later, local form of a phrase „Sons of Lech”.

And... we sort of made it into space with Hermaszewski the only Pole to be ever sent into space as part of then soviet space program. You are right about Curland, colonies were theirs and not actually Polish but because they were a Polish client state they are often reported as Polish. One thing I wanna mention is the PLC flag that Barby used. It's especially noticeable when he zooms on it on the Flag Friday episode, but there's an additional shield in the middle of it. It's the one divided into four fields with two coats of arms; one with three crowns on the blue field and one with golden lion on striped white and blue field. That's because this specific flag is the royal standard of king Sigismund III who was a member of the Swedish Vasa family. He's also the one who officially moved the capital to Warsaw.

I just did a bit of thinking, and I honestly believe that, around 1400, the king of Poland controlled more land than any other king of Europe at the time.
Think about it. Russia hadn't yet united, let alone conquered Siberia. England and Scotland were separate kingdoms. France was in the middle of the Hundred Years' War. Spain was still fighting the Reconquista. Italy and the Holy Roman Empire were fragmented into numerous smaller semi-autonomous kingdoms. And Scandinavia's Kalamar (sp?) Union and Columbus's exploration of the Americas were both a century away.

    Little trivia there:
    1. About Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz, who is the main character of one of our best comedy films "How I Unleashed World War II". The title is a bit twisted, because the MC thinks that he started the war by accident). In any case, he is taken prisoner and then escapes from a prisoner-of-war camp. Then he is captured again, but he has no documents, so the Germans try to get his personal data. Please, see for yourself how he is trying to do it to be dificault for them ua-cam.com/video/t-fcrn1Edik/v-deo.html
    2. About Winged Hussars... they were the best to the standard, that western mercenaries when signet contract to go to war against Polish-Latihuanian Commonwealth put official part of contract to NOT TO FIGHT AGAINST HUSSARS IN OPEN FIELD. If their contractor tryed to force them to do it, then they could just take their money, revoke contract and go back to their homes. If you still have doubts, then read about that battles: Battle of Klushino (against Russia and Sweden) and Battle of Kircholm (against Sweden), and get disproportion in initial forces... and in losses after battle.

This is a very old video but regarding our current geography poland is pretty spot on considering our first kingdom from the 10th century. Poland today occupies pretty much the same land area we did in late 900s and early 1000s. Wroclaw (Breslau) and Gdansk (Danzig) were established by Polish dukes and were part of the Polish kingdom for hundreds of years so us getting back these western and northern territories is very much okay. The only thing we did not hold at the time that we do now are the north-eastern territories on the border with russia and lithuania that were settled by Baltic people up untill 1200s when the Teutonic Knights Order wiped and asimilated them

Regard Geography. Lot of people forget that Europe end on the Ural mountains, not on Russia. For that reason Poland, Czechs and Slovaks are located in almost exact center of continent. It also refer to cultural differences as Poles don't share Russ culture, but was always (at least from moving from Tribal culture) a Western European country in organization, though with the flavor (Christianity, Latin alphabet, German-style cities though more Eastern clothing... also because of cold).
As side note. Slavs originated in Caucasus. But then moved West, with part going South, before being separated by Hungarians. So technically they could come both from north or east, to Balkan mountains.

The first written record thought to refer to Gdańsk is the vita of Saint Adalbert. Written in 999, it describes how in 997 Saint Adalbert of Prague baptised the inhabitants of urbs Gyddannyzc, "which separated the great realm of the duke [i.e. Boleslaw the Brave of Poland] from the sea.", originally neme of this city come from proto slavic language and name Danzik appeard later together with many other like Kdansk etc. Also the the eastern part of modern Poland, originally used to be under Polish rule already in 966 when Mieszko I was ruling in Poland. Not mentioned in this movie Wrocław, took its name from Czech Pricne Vaclaw at it was a home of Piast royal familly for long time, the name was changet to Breslaw by germans. Both of these cities Gdańsk and Wrocław was totally demolished by Germans during the II WW, thats why the buildings even that they look old, they are not that old at all.

The best estimates (based on the origins of the names of rivers) for what was the core lands of pre-slavs points to Polesie (south Belarus, north-west Ukraine and tiny part of central-east Poland)
This episode of Geography now was surprisingly bad.
Depending on how you measure what is the centre of Europe some points are in Poland, other are in Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus.
Balkans are South Eastern if you first take Southern Europe and then split it into 3 parts.
Split for regions poorly marked Kashubia. Thankfully it is correctly showed when discussing Kashubians
Yes the colonies was not belonging to the Commonwealth but to its vassal state the Duchy of Curland. Colonies ware lost due to war with Sweden interfering with developing them. Fun fact the one in Gambia was a small fort that was bought by subjects of duke Jakub Ketler from a local tribe. They treated locals well and honestly so that when British took the colony by force locals recaptured it, freed imprisoned... colonists? And gave them back the control over it. Another fun fact is that people doing the colonizing for the Curland were Dutch.
Malbork was a capital of Teutonic Order. AFAIK it is the biggest brick castle.
Tatra is a small mountain chain usually considered a part of bigger formations (usually eastern mountains are called Karpaty - Carpathia).
Officially there is 38 mln Poles in Poland but when the work market opened ~2mln moved west to work but rarely made it official. It is estimated that there are around 50mln of ethnic Poles and people of significant Polish origin in the world.
    Turoń is a scarce tradition.
Maps in the history section is garbage.
Technically it was nobles from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania who took over Moscow.
Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz is not even a fictional person. It is how a movie character said he is named when he was captured as a POW.
Many Poles dislike Russians on personal level. Talking about history with Russians is a mess to say the least. Many Poles hate Ukrainians due to bad blood from 2nd World War (like ethnic cleansing in Wołyń and Eastern Małopolska (now called Western Ukraine and South Eastern Poland)).
This dwarves are not in Warsaw but in Wrocław (biggest city in South West - 4th biggest in the country).
Milk bars are declining. Their thing is that they have cheap prices because non-meat dishes are subsidized by the country.
Silesians also have their flag (based on the colours of duchies of Upper Silesia).

Considering that Poles and Czechs are closer connected to Poland then Russians. It would be safe to assume that third Brother is the Balkans, but at the time knowledge about region was limited with Hungary on South (for reminder they aren't Slavs). It would be safe to assume that chis name changed over time. For reminder. Lechia is alternative name of Poland used by some Eastern nations. There is quite funny conspiracy theory claiming relation of name to Roman Empire (related to Latin Licus, most likely purely coincidental).

Regard status of Silesia. Sielsians are considered as branch of Poles (strong German influences as it was in the past part of Germany, though they attempt to separate and rejoin Poland in famous Silesian uprisings). And that is opinion hold by most of Silesian, though there is vocal minority claiming own national separation. Technical reason of why they aren't is lack of codified language. Most Poles have no problem with giving them same status as Kaszubs have. Another weird fast. Silesians are for some reason distinct minority in USA. To point that Texan Silesian is recognized dialect.

Also the reason Sapkowsky took cash instead of stocks is because CDPR was not the first company that offered to make The Witcher into a video game, that first one cancelled on him, and there was a tv show that sucked so his mistrust on a brand new video game company making good on its promise is not unjustified

We didn't occupy Moscow. It was the Russians who asked for Władysław's son, Zygmunt III Waza. Father had other plans. He wanted to regain the throne of Sweden. He sent a delegation of the Polish army to Moscow. It was his historical mistake. Władysław had to be crowned. Change the course of history. It ended with the Swedes invading Poland, the late partition of Poland. It's a long and complicated story.
