Personally I think it's the skill of the surgeon that matters most behind the technique when it comes to the FUT vs FUE debate. Yes FUT was the gold standard and still has it's place (especially when a large number of grafts are required). However with surgeons today like Dr Pittella and Dr Sethi and Dr Zarev, etc, FUE offers some things over FUT. For one thing you can 'cherry pick' the type of graft required to create a soft frontal hairline, soft temple points, etc from extracting from behind the ears. For patients like myself who was a Norwood 7 with two previous bad surgeries from the late 80's that failed, FUT was not a choice. However for a first surgery for a patient it makes sense to start with a strip and if/when MPB continues you can always augment with a smaller FUE surgery to keep the integrity of the scalp donor looking as untouched as possible. Thanks for sharing.
