Can I please ask a couple of questions ? Thanks I got this same one. I think it is very easy to use n gets the job done. I extended my porch using pressure treated red with #9 3"&4" screws. The battery lasted all day, and it sunk almost all the screws. I did start with star screws but they kept stripping, so I switched to Phillips much better. Lol I did just learn off this video that it has the battery reader on the back that will come in handy on future jobs. I love craftsman tools. I have found them to last longer, with a sturdy build and the chuckless key. The placement of the f/r switch is so much easier to switch back n forth. It is also gentle enough to assist with small household jobs and can go slow enough for tiny screws to hang pictures without going through the wall. I was on here because I'm reviewing a dewaltxr driver/hammer, then saw the negative comments and had to leave my opinion. I have a chance to get a dewalt xr driver/hammer for $40. So I know it's "stronger" than my craftsman but is it "better" than my ? I'm looking to know if it would be worth adding it to my tool bag or is my craftsman plenty ? Is $40 a good price. My craftsman is only 4yrs. Thanks
I just got a hammer drill variant of this.. CMCD711. Came with 2x 1.3Ah batts and a charger. No bag, no additional bits. I'm not expecting anything high-end or excellency with it. In fact, I have a DeWalt Brushless XR drill which vastly outperforms entire CMCD lineup. All that I'm asking to this Craftsman is to make a hole into my porch cement. That's all. And I think it will do its job as long as I'm not making hundreds of holes within a few hours. I've seen a few videos on this drill and the replies were mostly bashing this drill down to ground. Not sure why... At least it's better than a 12V cheapo installation drill. Yes, it won't cut it for any professional workload. But I do not have to repair my porch cement everyday.
As a tradie, yeah this won't cut it, however what homeowner needs some monster drill? Lol I get Makita & Bosch smugs, gotta justify their $250 drill while my $89 Ridgid has gone 3 strong years (replacement for an even older Ridgid stolen). I see this Craftsman even for electricians and HVAC though, they don't require anything more.
The runout might have been in the bit holder. Observing a drill bit would have been a better indicator whether the problem was in the drill. As for the battery charge status, there is a push button indicator on every Crafstman V20 battery that shows 1-3 lights, depending on the charge.
Agreed, a drill bit or precision pin would have been a better indicator of runout. I installed a drill bit recently and do see visible runout (just with the naked eye, no measurement taken) so I'm thinking the chuck end of the tool is creating this

Just got my Craftsman drill & driver set. Loaded a bit, did some work then tried to change bit and the chuck wouldn't budge. What is happening?
Keep making content my dude
I was using a snake with this exact same drill and it kept slipping out of the chuck. How do you know its tighten enough?
Does craftsman make a cover to protect the connector area on the drill while the batter is not on the tool?
Hey there, I am not aware of a protective cover for the battery area when the battery is not installed
dumbest thing ive ever heard
Mine locked up after minimal use light work only .
Can't get the chuck to operate
I haven't had that issue with mine. I recommend returning it to the store if it's still in warranty
I bought the Same drill but it contains the WRONG Bit! Could not get any work done on day off. Have to return it 😠
Liked the review, however.
this drill is garbage
