You shouldn’t say that you’re working tools at Lowes. Every single person I have met who works in the tool department at Lowe’s, know nothing and I mean nothing about tools. And secondly, if you’re the supervisor, you should know everything there is to know about tools and not be watching UA-cam videos to learn about them how embarrassing you are to yourself.
I bought into the craftsman 20v system, having used makita and dewalt. The tools hold up, the economy level models are lacking, just like most brands. but the flagship models are quality and shouldn't be ignored. I have this exact hammer drill and it handles everything with ease and its very compact. Lowes has the means to make this brand a top dog and im getting the feeling they intend to.
There new stuff is awesome. I have there brushless 20v impact driver, 20v grinder amd 20v multi tool...use them everyday right next to my dewalt xr set...there new stuff is top quality you will be impressed
Not sure I'd bought one myself, however I just got one as a gift and I can say I'm impressed with this drill and would buy one. Good grip feel and the clutch setting/trigger feels like they're quality built, very nice drill in my opinion, recommend!! Great review!
I started with craftsman way back in the day (20+years ago). They took way too long to upgrade there tech so i moved to blue Ryobi, then Dewalt & now I'm heavily invested in Milwaukee M18 & M12 lines. I could never go back due the the innovation that Milwaukee & other brands have brought to the cordless tool industry. Too little to late but i do fondly remember my 19.2 nicad drill/driver since it was my first.
I was pretty sure at the time that Craftsman 19.2 line was built by TTI based off of the Ryobi blue line. That's back before when it was a Sears brand. Guess these are now under Stanley Black and Decker. I started out with Ryobi blue also and am using Milwaukee now because of their unique tools like the Hackzall, tablesaw etc
@@MNCasaPro Yeap, the GEN 1 M12 3/8 ratchet was the reason I tried Milwaukee in the first place & that tool started the ball rolling for me. I just upgraded to the. Gen2 M12 Fuel ratchet last week cause HD gave me it for $50 bucks off the price. It has paid for it self already on a radiator job & battery job.
Nope, there were no 19.2V Craftsman tools 20+ years ago. They were mostly 12V then, maybe 18V had recently surfaced. Their 19.2V line was much more recently, towards the end of the NiCd era. They were pretty much identical to the blue Ryobi tools of the same era because both were made by TTI. Heck, for a while they could both use the same battery packs if you trimmed a little tab off the corner of them. However that's all mostly irrelevant because the old Craftsman TTI made stuff will be near an end when sears goes under. This is the new generation Stanley Black & Decker line which shares only the Craftsman name. They are a great value because you get much of the engineering put into B&D's Dewalt tools but at homeowner tier pricing. Milwaukee makes great tools, but sometimes they are a bit overpriced for their purpose. "Innovation" though, hardly means anything. For example brushless, it was inevitable that they all go brushless eventually and mostly guys are saying it's so important and paying the early adopter tax a few years ago, then finding out it's more expensive to repair them and that they had plenty of batteries so the runtime difference wasn't all that important. The important thing is that as time goes on, the controller boards will be improving like everything else so eventually, they'll be worth their premium prices.
Thanks for your comments on this drill. Wish I could be on the same page. Just got my Craftsman V20 brushless hammer Drill with 2 batteries and a charger, and guess what, DEAD! No batteries, No charging. Talking about disappointment being this my first Craftsman purchase. I want to believe I was just unlucky. Has this ever happened to any one? However, I might give it a second try. Returned to Amazon. Let´s see
I own almost every V20 cordless Craftsman tool from drills to miter saw to the vacuum and have built furniture, decks, remodel my Restaruant and built a Home room addition..... not sure what all the hype is about Milwaukee and Dewalt ..... Craftsman is great as long as you use it reasonably.
Craftsman really needs to bring back the boots they used to sell at K mart. They were some of the most comfortable and nicest looking day to day boots I ever owned
I have the non-hammer version of this, the CMCD720. Build quality is solid. Soon want to get the CMCF820 impact driver. Have two vacuums on the V20 line too (stick and hand). And as of January 2021, Craftsman still does not have a V12 line in production. But they should since they are a good homeowner and DIY brand.
I have every v20 tool (except speaker and flashlight). I also have the new 10in miter and table saw. I use them everyday (I install wood stair treads). The only non craftsman tool I have is a Bosch palm router (Craftsman doesn't make one). Guess which one was the first tool to burn out? Well, it doesn't start with a C

But it literally smoked on the 3rd day i used it.just doing 3 in baseboard i ended up taking it back and getting a metabo and its held up way better than craftsman. ill stick to just using craftsman for their automotive tools.
It's very impressive I have one it surprised, I was expecting it to be like hart tools I was fooled well done craftsman you can't be making much money selling a quality impact and a hammer drill for around120 dollars
I paid 89.99 for the same thing today, bag , drill, and two 2amp batteries. Better than just any deal you will find. About the same maybe a little better than the dewalt max line. Better batteries.
I've actually purchased a lot more Craftsman & Stanley last few years. First, they have variety. Second, they are innovative (a utility blade scraper by Stanley, under $2, paid itself off first tiling job removing caulk [there is even more to it, blade insert/remove tool that is also a blade guard]). Craftsman's 10inch 15 amp table is ludicrously perfect for mobility. *Everything* is pocketed into the saw. While cordless I'm sticking to Ridgid, corded Craftsman is my go to now. Jesus their 6 amp hand planer has dual port dust exits that actually work. I could go on lol
And many people don't know DeWalt and Craftsman share the same tooling. In fact Craftsmans and moreso Stanley are the test-bed brands that you'll usually see as improvements in the Stanley-B&D umbrella, for brands such as DeWalt.
Was nice to see a Craftsman tool. I bought a Craftsman C3 19.2V 1/2" impact wrench a few years ago, the platform now seems extinct. The tool works well for lug nuts. Are these new ones now made by Dewalt?
Alot of people knock this drill but I own it. And I feel it's just as good as dewalt imo. But. I also feel it's more for homeowners kinda drill. Not bad for the buck.
I really did enjoy this hammer drill until it got stolen, I didn't have a drill on me and needed one, the closest Depot was an hour away so picked up one of these on a special buy from lowes, and actually enjoyed using it.
I love craftsman, i understand some people have a problem with them but my family is a craftsman family, and i have inherited alot of old classic craftsman tools,i do agree that craftsman’s build quality has declined from what it originally used to be but they offer a lifetime warranty on pretty much all their hand tools, so in essence it does make up for it a little, i hope craftsman realizes this and upgrades the build quality on all of thier tools, but its cheap and it works and thats how craftsman has always been regardless of build quality, but im a die hard craftsman fan and if you support this company like i do it will help them regain their traction, i run craftsman v20 for automotive and it works fine, i have no problems that i see that another brand does any better, v20 line is definitely as compact as they come for battery tools compared to similar brands and does the job just as well
Well Vince I'm sorry, I just spent 3 and a half hours summoning my 4 years of highschool engineering trying my hardest to convert unit watts out to inch lbs but I couldn't do it. I mean I was trying physics, algebra, calculus and nothing...it's like a whole new format that can't be converted by us mere mortals.
So the equation goes like this. The low gear rpm rating x max torque divided by the constant which is 560 = uwo the torque rating always has to be in inch lbs. For the constant of 560 to work. So low rpm x torque (inch lbs.) ÷ by 560 = uwo 600 rpm x torque (inch lbs.) ÷ 560 = 400 uwo 400 x560 = 224,000 ÷ 600 =373.33 inch lbs of torque. Approximately In order to fairly compare other drills you would have to use the equation and other test methods.

There is an identical European version of this (Stanley fatmax sfmcd721) and it has 80nm of torque. I'm thinking of getting the Stanley over the dcd996, it just looks too good in yellow.
The least you could do is include your click bait in the actual video. You don’t even address or examine the actual build quality. “The shocking feature that 99% of the video doesn’t address”.
Stanley Black & Decker needs to make the DeWalt battery line compatible with Craftsman, Black & Decker and Porter Cable lines. Since they are all owned by SB&D, we know these tools are to some degree sharing technology. Just make one line of batteries. Please.
Just picked up this set. However the regular drill stalls from time to time in use. I was putting together a brand new metal shed and has a lot of screws. So as I’m putting it together screwing one screw after another it would stall out. In other words I push the button and nothing would happen I have to click the directional button for it to come back on is this normal? It’s very frustrating trying to put a shed together with a lot of screws and not be able to screw one right after another I don’t think this is normal operation please respond.
Good for Craftsman I’m glade they are back with quality brushless tools. That said I did go buy the impact drill and it is a quality tool. It’s just too bad that they don’t have more in their brushless lineup.
I'm no fan of brushless. It's a gimmick. Failures are more permanent, PCBs are worthless to try repairing, obsolecense built it. There's a reason why only brushed tools exist and still function over a hundred years later (see: Hand Tool Rescue).
More Craftsman Please! Also as far as the 12V line, I'm only aware or their Sears line made by Nextec with DieHard 12V batteries. I'm not sure that they've made any 12V tools under the Black And Decker name. Hopefully they do!
Hey vcg, great vid! Check out the reversible malco bit its 5/16 and 1/4 inch with a cleanable magnet, I do electrical and love the fact you can clean it, no chewing gum necessary!
cmcd700 20v drill/driver. I let the smoke out of mine. I used it to bore 7- 2 1/8" holes in 3/4 plywood. Smoke rolled out of it and it locked up tight. Calling Lowe's to see if I can exchange. Lost my receipt. Maybe they'll have it on record. Otherwise i'll break it down and ebay a new can motor.
Also wondering, @VCGconstruction do the new craftsman lithium tools work with the sears tools? From what I’m seeing there are essentially two types of craftsman power tools..the red that we see at Lowe’s, Menards etc, then the Sears dark red and black line of “professional 20v lithium ion tools. Would be interesting to see a head to head agains the best of the two Craftsman tools.
Stanley Black & Decker owns both Craftsman and DeWalt. So they're made by the same parent company. Since they are desperate entities under the same umbrella, that could mean they're produced on the same assembly line or that the two companies act completely autonomously and they are completely different besides having the same parent company. Having the same parent company doesn't necessarily mean that the tools have any similarities.

My Milwaukee m12 Fuel has delay from pressing trigger until it starts spin. Also it has lug with torque setting on driver/drill. Far from perfect. This Craftsman has the same sound hope it does not have that delay. I like a lot more My Porter Cable brushless combo
Why does the title include (SHOCKING BUILD QUALITY!) Im curious as I have the UK version of this drill called the Stanley Fatmax V20 and I can't fault it. - purchased a month ago for about $130 (£100)
This is what I would buy if I wanted to keep some drills with power tools on the job so that I didn’t get my Milwaukee‘s stolen or at least run that risk.
Dewalt says torque on Eu websites, so for example dcf966 has 90Nm of torque . I guess you can just compare it to some dewalt tool check on eu site and convert to in/lbs
I walked in Lowe's and asked them where the Milwaukee tools were. He said, "We have craftsman. We don't carry Milwaukee, because Milwaukee is their competitor." I said, no shit.... Milwaukee is Craftsman's competitor? So you're saying that the Makita, Bosch, DeWalt, etc AREN'T Craftsman's competitor? Derp. What a stupid thing to say. They're all competitors.
Apparently, Lowes and Milwaukee have had business disputes in the past when the two companies ended their relationship in 2008 (which doesn't seem too uncommon for Milwaukee because Milwaukee has also had issues with Amazon such that Amazon is not an authorized retailer for Milwaukee).
I just want to buy good tools. If it's made on Mars and is good then so be it. I'm committed to a different battery platform but I know someone somewhere walks into Lowe's and sees these tools on the end caps. Who better to keep everyone in the know than VCG? At this point in the game we depend on you to check it out for us. If a new (or old) line of tools emerges you pretty much have to kick the wheels for us.
I was seriously considering getting the new Craftsman V20 one for my home line of Tools. The only thing that held me back was most If not all of the other tools in the line are brushed and I already had Ryobi batteries so I went with Ryobi. Really like the new craftsman line at Lowe’s though.
5:50... they do have a 12 volt line but it's the old style before Lowes took over Craftsman they are called Craftsman NexTec.... so technically they don't offer a 12 volt line in the new platform.. I was thinking about going with the Craftsman line but the way S&B treated Porter-Cable (which I liked)...but they never really seemed to invest in them.... I decided to go with Ridgid.... I'm just DIY... I like to do my own Automotive mechanical work and some lightweight building...but you never know I may end up just going to Milwaukee and giving my brother all of my Ridgid stuff....👍
Lowes did not take over Craftsman... Stanley Black & Decker took over Craftsman (and that fact is probably the reason why SB&D seems to be getting rid of Porter Cable... Craftsman will be SB&D's mid-tier line below DeWalt and above Black & Decker). Lowes just has somewhat of an "exclusive" deal with SB&D for Craftsman (although Craftsman may still be sold at Sears and Ace Hardware).
Really rooting for a comeback of Craftsman quality, keep the Craftsman videos coming with improvements!
Thank you Joshua!

Hey vcg, great vid! Check out the reversible malco bit its 5/16 and 1/4 inch with a cleanable magnet, I do electrical and love the fact you can clean it, no chewing gum necessary!
You can get the octane ridgid hammer drill with 3ah octane battery for $112 at the Home Depot and it’s LSA
cmcd700 20v drill/driver.
Craftsman Is it the Black & Decker, DeWalt, Porter Cable, Craftsman, koble are the the same manufacturer
I read your comment 4 times and I can't figure out what you are trying to say.
Craftsman quality is awesome for the price. I never have them break, but damn do my snap-on's break every week on the flight line.
Very nice and a awesome video my brother much love Bro later :)
This impact wrench/Driver on amazon/eBay seems too good to be true but I’m considering getting it. I wanted to know opinion and if you can do a review
GOXAWEE high torque impact wrench
1/2" Impact Wrench/Driver Kit 20V 4000mAh
High Torque: 300N.M (221FT-lbs) torque
Brushless Cordless Driver 300N.M High Torque
Yes Vince. Craftsman DOES have a 12 volt line. I'm certain of it.
Like your videos now you are number one go I really would like to get some knowledge on how to perform jobs but I guess I have to learn by watching
There new stuff is very nice brushless and none brushless there new 20v line is pretty impressive I own 4 of there tools, brushless impact driver and brushless 2.5g cordless compressor, 20v grinder and 20v multi tool..I use them everyday right next to my dewalt xr set.
Holy hell dudes congrats on 100K subs! One of the big dogs now. As far as I can see, there is no V12 line yet, but I'm sure they are planning one. Just future proofing and encouraging people to buy when they do launch.
Thanks 802 we appreciate it!!
Good morning guys! Keep up the good work and the videos! Have a great day !
❤️
My Milwaukee m12 Fuel has delay from pressing trigger until it starts spin. Also it has lug with torque setting on driver/drill. Far from perfect. This Craftsman has the same sound hope it does not have that delay. I like a lot more My Porter Cable brushless combo
Cool unboxing, Vince! I'll stick with m&m though. M&M=Makita & Milwaukee. Thanks and God bless! 😁
Build quality? Links?
Yes I like craftsman tools
Why does the title include (SHOCKING BUILD QUALITY!) Im curious as I have the UK version of this drill called the Stanley Fatmax V20 and I can't fault it. - purchased a month ago for about $130 (£100)
Throw it up against the Metabo HPT DV 36 DA ... I know not a real fair comparison but I just enjoy watching green take on red and yellow.
Right now, a 2-pack of 4.0Ah batteries on sale for only $79 at Lowe’s, till January 2022! A 2-pack of 2.0Ah batteries on sale for $59, too!
Only one team red for me
Milwaukee !
I don't remember a recent 12 volt Craftsman tool system. Craftsman does have a 19.2 volt system I use now.
This is what I would buy if I wanted to keep some drills with power tools on the job so that I didn’t get my Milwaukee‘s stolen or at least run that risk.
Craftsman is for Home/DIY or residential and light commercial. For the serious Commercial and Industrial use Milwaukee and Dewalt.
I guess there is no Craftsman 20v Router?
Dewalt says torque on Eu websites, so for example dcf966 has 90Nm of torque . I guess you can just compare it to some dewalt tool check on eu site and convert to in/lbs
Hey Vince, two thumbs up up!!
Thanks Bushwhack!!
I think craftsman needs to make a two bank rapid charger and I agree with Vince for that kind of money they should include at least one 4.0 battery
Craftsman used to make a 4 battery charger for the 18 volt batteries - not the Lithium ion batteries though.
If a new (or old) line of tools emerges you pretty much have to kick the wheels for us.
knowing the best tools is #1, ... # 2 is we still manufacture in the United States! Go U.S.!
I use craftsman daily at work
Great video vince
It’s not quality unless @AvE says so
Tyler Coleman Skookum as frig
I was seriously considering getting the new Craftsman V20 one for my home line of Tools. The only thing that held me back was most If not all of the other tools in the line are brushed and I already had Ryobi batteries so I went with Ryobi. Really like the new craftsman line at Lowe’s though.
The USA assembled ones are brushless. Most of the Chinese made one are brushed. So in reality there's only three brushless tools.
Looks like Stanley trying to mimic Milwaukee the tool head and shape looks like Milwaukee the brushless on the back looks like dewalt
20 volt max is also a dewalt battery spec it's a dewalt in red
There is 2 different hammer drills by craftsman what is diffence
5:50... they do have a 12 volt line but it's the old style before Lowes took over Craftsman they are called Craftsman NexTec.... so technically they don't offer a 12 volt line in the new platform..
@@matty_w I meant when Lowe's took over exclusive sales from Sears.. .
there is an older 12 volt craftsman line my dad has tools for however i think it's now discontinued
When people start eating the silica packs we'll know where it got started lol
Im getting this one..
The single LED is not in a usable spot. Craftsman put the LED up around the chuck which is in the work zone
Milwaukee's tools are made in the us too with global materials
Batteries are to small compared to the price I agree Vince
link for spyderco knives please
Ph look the craftsman is packaged just like dewalt also
