There's nothing wrong with Harbor Freight tools. I have at least a half dozen or more that have lasted for years. Btw...I'm not cheap either...I just like good values, too!😂
Did a similar evaluation about 4 years ago, and bought the Bauer drill and grinder for a project. I've been very pleased. I now have about 20 Bauer cordless tools, 5 batteries, and 3 chargers. Couldn't be more pleased with my decision as a DIYer who only occasionally uses the tools. The Bauer value proposition means I can have a variety of tools, due to the lower price, and still have enough reliability that they will last many years with my light usage.
For homeowner and DIYer use the Bauer and Ryboi stuff is great....Hercules is a nice step up but there isn't very much in the way of a tool selection with Hercules like there is with Bauer and Ryobi. I need to pickup some batteries and another charger for my Bauer stuff, I only have 2 batteries and a charger, and I think I have about a dozen of the Bauer line of tools now LOL.
We were programmed to be consumers. Buying used and keeping them until they die is odd to many. I like being odd, I get to keep more of my money and strive to be debt free, not a debt slave.
I made my living as a cabinetmaker and finish carpenter for 25 years so I understand how important good tools are. I don’t work on stuff all the time like I used to but over the last three years I have been little by little switching over to all Bauer cordless tools. Only issue I’ve had is that I have had to return and exchange a few batteries.
As far the battery go it run my grandson power wheel as recharges just fine. He can go though 2 1/2 batteries a day if you let him but they seem to hold up for over 6 months now. I use 1-3ah and 2-5ah
My father insisted on corded tools for decades. He spent a lot on early ni-cad battery power tools and they were terrible. Then he picked up the bauer grinder for a home project and was amazed at how far they have come over the years. I get a call every other week about the new tools he picked up that week and how they do. I like the heat gun too. It works well with the glue gun.
@@DanielDroegeShow, I love reading this. My dad was the same way. The first cordless tools were terrible no power and did hold a charge. They are a lot different today. I picked up the glue gun and was surprised how much I use it. Maybe I should pick up the heat gun too. I have an old corded Milwaukee that works good, but cordless is so convenient. Thanks for watching.
Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.
I was a renter so never had power tools, then I bought a house last year and now my garage is mostly Bauer. Started with Ryobi but I honestly feel the Bauer line is better quality. Just hope they start expanding products like Ryobi. Not one Bauer tool let me down, can’t say the same about Ryobi.
I have been happy with mine. They keep expanding the product line and also going to brushless. I just picked up the crown stapler and so far it’s working great. Thanks for watching.
Yeah I'm not super happy with my Ryobi tools either. Thinking of going to Craftsman or DeWalt. Only issue is I never stop by Lowes and I have a Harbor Freight much closer.
I have Bauer and Ryobi both....Ryobi has stuff that Bauer doesn't LOL...yeah, I hope they keep expanding the Bauer line for sure...they have a few lawn/garden tools in the Bauer line now too....but I got the blower, attachment capable trimmer, and 14" chainsaw from Ryobi's 40V line recently to fill in some gaps....and its nice throwing a battery in a tool and not having to deal with the gas powered stuff for small quick jobs. I'm curious how the Ryobi 40V 21" lawnmower is...I tried and Ego but that thing had some sort of electrical/electronic issues I think because it would randomly shut itself off for no apparent reason, and the self propel would stop working randomly. That thing was a waste of $750. I have some Ridgid 18V stuff and some of the Hercules 18V and 12V stuff too....its nice having a few different platforms to work from, if you need a tool it might be on sale in one platform and not in others, so its nice to have some options LOL. Ridgid and Hercules though are way behind in the amount of tools available in those lines.
I bought the Hercules line when it came out just to get to one line of tools. Unfortunately with covid they were lacking a variety for a while and I needed different tools. I got a few Bauer tools and I really like them. They’re not the greatest, but they filled out my tool needs for a good price and they’re still going strong. Now Hercules has a better variety with a 5 year warranty so I’m growing my collection.
Jeramy, herc is supposed to be better. However I have found each line has their champs.... As well as not champs. Bauer has more selection, big bonus, one that really peeves me is the Bauer radio and baby vacuum. Battery only, Hercs version is dual power which is the sex... Bauer has a dual power work light and fan that I love. 3&5 mah batteries are the key, if the 1.5s are free or close to free ok, otherwise get the 3&5
I have Bauer tools , impact driver, drill, circular saw, which is my favorite tool, a corded heavy drill, a trimer and an impact wrench that will turn a rusted on nut or break the bolt. Love all of them.!
Hello Dan, I hope it helps. I really struggled with choosing a brand, but I am really happy with the Bauer tools. As always, thanks so much for watching.
Hi there so I just bought the new brushless drill/driver have had it for two weeks now i work for a moveing company and we install furniture mostly office stuff like cubicle and sit stand desk and chairs the tool has done amazing so far worth every penny just got the 3 amp battery for it a few days ago and it sound more powerful my dad does electrical work and has done so much work with this brand over the passed 5 years and they get the job done I would recommend this brand to anyone great tools 100% 👍👌
I have 5 or so corded and cordless Bauer power tools and so far so good. I'll be getting more to round out my remodeling and home repair tools in the future.
I got into the Bauer line simply because they have a glue gun. (and heat gun) If Hercules had the glue gun at the time, (they later added the heat gun) I would have started with Hercules. But when it comes to batteries with my growing Bauer collection, I'm ONLY buying the 5.0ah ones... especially when they do that special where 2 batteries are like $80. I recently built a shipping container office, including a fancy deck (trex) and used the 20v Bauer chop saw for all of the interior trim, flooring and decking. And most of my other tools were Bauer. There were a few specialized tools that only Makita and Miluawakee has, but even that list is narrowing, now that Bauer has a brushless metal cut saw for a fraction of what I paid for the Makita.
I agree. Bauer has a larger line and has stuck with one battery platform. And now the brushless tools and the line keeps growing. I’m really happy with the quality and the price. Thanks so much for watching.
Hercules is way behind on releasing tools, many people have bought into the Bauer line already, so even if Hercules releases new stuff people won't buy it because they already have Bauer batteries and chargers....I have both, just for the ability to buy whatever brand happens to be on sale when I need a tool...I can go with Bauer, Hercules (12V, and 20V), Ryobi (18V, 40V, and 4V USB), and Ridgid....Ridgid like Hercules is way behind in tool releases....that's one thing I have to say with Ryobi they have a massive selection in all their platforms except the 80V stuff, there's only a few lawn/garden equipment items in the 80V platform....I'd love to try their lawn tractor or the zero turn just for fun LOL.
I got a Bauer brushless 3/8 impact gun and 1.5Ah battery, that thing made quick work of an extremely tight (and threadlocked!) bolt that holds my steering wheel to the column!! AMAZING VALUE
I am still amazed with them. I worked outside sanding the trim on my house with the Bauer orbital sander with 60 grit discs for two hours before changing batteries. Very happy.
I just bought the Bauer 6 gallon 4 peak Horse power wet/dry vacuum and the Bauer cyclone dust extractor and I'm very happy with my purchase. Together they costed around $90 in my area which isn't too bad. Good luck with yours but I think they are a good way to go for the regular guy. It's a good value for what you pay as well so I call that a win.😁
I have the 6 gallon vacuum as well, it sucks LOL. I can't see any difference between it and the old Shop-Vac branded ones....I also have an old 16 gallon Ridgid shop vac. They work great, I have a bag in the Bauer 6 gallon vacuum and haven't noticed any loss of suction by doing so....that was an issue with some of the older Shop-Vacs, if you used a bag, it decreased the suction power by quite a bit. These newer vacuums don't seem phased by adding bags....its nice to use bags as it keeps the filter clean for a lot longer LOL.
I had Black and Decker 20 volt tools that were getting long in the tooth. I purchased the Bauer drill first as well, and found it was noticeably more powerful than the Black and Decker it replaced. I then bought the Bauer driver. It too was more powerful. Every tool I purchased to replace the Black and Decker equivalent was noticeably more powerful. They were also less expensive than ANY of the Black and Decker tools. So far, I'm very satisfied with the Bauer tools.
Been using Bauer for weekend warrior stuff for years now, always been happy. The only one I've heard bad things about is the circular so I haven't gone there yet (I have a truck so I don't need to break down sheet goods in the HD parking lot fortunately). Anybody with experience with either cordless circ? My advice on sales if you can wait is to look for a bundle deal they occasionally run. Last year they had deal where you got 1 of 5 or 6 tools, a charger and a 5A batt for $99. I got both the palm router and the recip saw using this deal and couldn't be happier about it.
They are doing some great deals on them. I think some of the sales are also to get rid of older models and make room for all brushes tools. I just bought a Bauer 20V angle grinder and could have purchased the old model for about $10 less but I chose to go with the newer brushless . Thanks so much for watching
I haven't tried the Bauer or Hercules saws, I have the Ridgid 18V 7-1/4" saw and it does great. I think if I had to get a Bauer or Hercules 20V saw I'd go with the Hercules 7-1/4" though. I have Bauer, Hercules, Ryobi, and Ridgid platforms. Having multiple options is nice, if you need a tool, its probably on sale in at least one platform, so having multiple battery/charger options available is a good thing sometimes.
@@wildbill23c wow that's a lot of platforms. My philosophy was pick one and stick with it, especially since I sometimes drain 2-4 batteries at a time sanding or using the blower in the yard. I think it really sucks that these manufacturers are able to lock you in by making their batts incompatible with each other. Since writing my original reply I have purchased the Bauer 7 1/4 on another deal. I haven't used any other cordless circs but my general impressions on this are meh, even with the 5A batt. It's OK for a few quick cuts in the backyard or if you need a quick breakdown of a couple sheets from the hardware store, but if you need to do serious cutting a corded will work much better. It tends to stall a lot on anything but the thinnest wood unless you cut slower than you're probably used to.
Got the 1/2 inch impact, impact driver, oscillating tool, circular saw, and will acquire the grinder tomorrow. The "buy the battery get the tool" deal is decent for like the circular saw, notsomuch for the cheaper options. An often overlooked good value is the Warrior 18v drill, and even the 12v ones when the price is right. Sure the batteries are 1.3 AH and there's no larger ones, but the 18v model I used recently to build racks in the warehouse drilling self tapping screws was just as good as the beat up DeWalt we had alongside it. For the price you can't go wrong.
I've got a few of the Warrior 18V tools too, forgot about those....I have the 3/8" drill, 1/4" impact, and the jigsaw....I have the Warrior corded reciprocating saw, its a great throw it in the truck and go tear things apart saw LOL. I have a few of the 4-1/2" Warrior angle grinders, they work fine for home use....I still have an old Chicago Electric 4" angle grinder that I've had for gotta be close to 20 years now that's still going, I don't use it much, but when I do it gets used hard.
@@DIYGene I haven't used the Warrior angle grinders enough to really say good or bad about them, but yeah, it seems the Warrior stuff might just be worse than the Chicago Electric, hard to believe LOL.
I only have a corded Bauer heat gun and random orbit sander but i wouldn't think twice before getting their cordless tools. Back in 2010 when I was a poor Airman i bought a $20 drill and flashlight combo from Harbor Freight. I think it was Drillmaster or some brand that predated all this stuff. It was blue and kinda looked like a Makita knockoff. Anyway i kept it in my truck bed toolbox throughout the seasons and ran it to the ground. I gave it to someone when i moved but it was still working.
@@dirtycommtroop, I just built a 14’ x 18’ shop and used almost all these tools and they did a great job. It was nice not dragging out cords for that project. Thanks for watching.
Probably Chicago Electric back then, warrior came out later and Drill master as well....none of them have a great track record for many LOL. I've been pretty lucky with all those brands early on, and have slowly gone towards the Bauer and Hercules as well as building my Ryobi and Ridgid selection as well. I found that having multiple platforms allows you to get tools when needed from whichever platform happens to have a sale going at the time LOL.
I drive a 1994 BMW, older cars just keep ticking as long as you care for them. The habor frieght tools are awesome, i use allot of their middle to higher hand tools, and allot of their corded. Power tool wise i wish i started with Bauer, but right now i am slowly switching from my black and decker 20v to WORX 20v, no complaints so far. But if I started in Bauer i probably would not feel the need to upgrade. I seriously considered bauer but picked WORX for one tool allone, the cordless pressure washer. I use my black and decker one as a portable garden hose, WORX upgrade will be pending for the near future.
@@StardustADV, I have had really good luck with the Bauer tools. They really are a great value. Just like my 94 Jeep that I love. The 94 BMW is a cool ride. Thanks for watching.
Like the tools, they all work as expected and the little light feature on the drill and impact is surprisingly useful. However, I've had 3 batteries die over the last 4 years, and I don't abuse them at all.
Get battery adapter so you can use Dewalt or Milwaukee batteries on the tools. I do that dor my old Craftsman 19.2 Cordless Impact,Driver,Drill+Wrench. They work great!!
I think if I were able to go back, fresh out of school, and on a tight budget, I would choose the Hercules line of Harbor Freight cordless tools. The new brushless impact and hammerdrill are outperforming most pro grade tool brand's flagship models. They are also backed by a 5 year warranty, which exceeds or match's the competition. They downside is that the selection of tools isn't as large as Bauer pretty much everyone else, but they will catch up before long.
I think you are right and the Hercules brand will catch up. But also what sold me on the Bauer was they are now building brushes tools. Thanks so much for watching.
@@DIYGene Thats true, the brushless tools are so much better than the brushed ones. The brushed drill and impact from bauer felt solid, but severely lacked power and you could smell AND see the brushes burning up with every trigger press.
@@superstrife9880 yes I smell the burn too, but I got the brushed impact a few months ago when they discounted them down to less than $30. For that price I don't mind a little burn🙂
I have several Bauer 20V tools, some of the Hercules 20V tools, and the Hercules 12V ratchets....they all work fine, and if you catch them on sale its even better....that's why I have multiple platforms, if I need a tool I can usually find it on sale in one of the platforms I have. Ridgid hasn't really released anything new lately, but Bauer and Ryobi seem to always be coming up with more tools...I have several Ryobi One+ tools, and a few of the 40V lawn/garden tools. I recently got a few of the Ryobi USB 4V tools that seem to be very usable too.
@@DIYGene I don't have the mower....yet LOL...kind of thinking about getting one though. The blower works very well, and the string trimmer does great too. I don't use them very much, but they seem to do the job just fine, and for the price its a great platform I think. The real test with the trimmer will be hooking the power head up to my tiller attachment, that's the most power robbing attachment I think, ground is frozen right now so I can't try it out, but I have a feeling it'll work fine too. I trimmed around the border of my place with the weed eater a while back and along a section of the ditch on one part of my property and still had enough juice to blow all the leaves off my patio and carport...so the run time seems acceptable at least for my needs, and that's with the 4ah batteries.
I've got a number of Bauer cordless tools and my collection is growing all the time. Santa has my Christmas wish list and Bauer is on the list twice. I limit my purchases from Harbor Freight to the price range where I consider the tool "disposable" since repairing any tool from Harbor Freight doesn't appear to be an option (I can still buy repair parts for my Makita tools purchased in the 1980's). Bauer is perfect for me ... good tools at a fair price, and the batteries are great. Thanks for the video!
Bauer all the way. Drill, impact wrench ajd driver, circular saw, work lights, and I just got the brushless reciprocating saw to help with a rebuild job on my backyard shed. Love em!
KUDOS on your review of HF Bauer cordless tools. I have been using Bauer 20v drill [I have 2] for several years and find them to be well worth the $$$. I did have to return one under warranty, which was replaced before I left the building. I also have a Dewalt DCD771 1/2" 20V MAX cordless drill with a 1.3Ah battery. I have literally run the Bauer [with a 1.5Ah battery] and the Dewalt, side by side on differ4ent projects and find VERY little difference in their performance. That's why I bought a 2nd Bauer 1/2" 20V cordless drill. I have 6 Bauer batteries from 1.5 to 5Ah and 2 1.5Ah Dewalt batteries. I also purchased a "converter" that allows me to interchange the Bauer & Dewalt between the different drills with now problems. I never took the time to add up how much I have saved by going to HF Bauer drills & batteries but overall, I would guess that it might be north of $300.00. I have 2 20V 1/2" drills, 1-20V impact driver, 1-20V 2500 Lumen Spotlight, 1-20V/120V Cordless Dual Power Fan, 1-20V circular saw and 1-20V 5" random orbit sander. Thanks for not bashing Bauer just because it comes from HF.
@@redslover5293 , I have had great luck with the Bauer 20v tools. I just used the circular saw and drill and driver for two solid days on a shed project and they did fantastic. Thanks so much for your great response. Gene
I have been using Bauer tools for about a year and a half. I too am a DIYer weekend warrior and I love the performance. I am not cheap, but for the price of these tools and power. I will be buying more of Bauer tools.
I’m starting my Bauer tool collection after a buddy helped me using some of his redoing my deck. They have been handing a 12x24 deck and all that treated and old rotted lumber without so much a grunt.
I invested a lot of money on my corded, top of the line Makita tools because I know they will outlive me. I consider all cordless tool as disposable because the batteries cost more than the tools and will go bad eventually. Thanks for the review of this brand. I have been looking to replace my Ryobi tools because of the difficulties I have been having with their batteries.
That is so true. Battery and cordless tools will keep changing technology, but you can always plug in that old corded circular saw. Thanks so much for watching.
Great video and thank you! This video is pushing a ton of views to my review video comparing the Bauer, ryobi and dewalt! The Bauer did way better than we thought it was going to.
For a little more per tool you can get a 2 yr warranty. As far as battery goes i bought an adapter to use my Makita batteries. I prefer Makita but for the price i bought a right angle drill, detail sander and a oscillating tool with 2 year warranty on each for almost the price of a Makita oscillating tool.
I have the blower and take it with me when i have pasture mowing jobs with my tractor. Works great for cleaning the screen and radiator and is compact enough to fit behind the seat on my tractor. However i dont use bauer batterys. I have an adapter to use dewalt style batterys with great success and run time without any issues with tool or batterys.
@DIYGene I have a Mac 1/2 inch impact (it's basically a dewalt) and have 8ah dewalt batterys. I bought two sets of TENMOER 6ah batteries from Amazon. I've used both sets on all the tools and have worked great. Both battery brands on full charge run several hours. I used the corner/detail sander to prep my truck bed for a spray in bed liner (5.5ft bed) with TENMOER 6ah battery and only swapped out one battery close to the end. There are a few more bauer tools on my hit list to get still.
I can buy whatever tools I need or want. You can call me cheap then as well. But, if I only use a tool a few times a year, it makes sense to buy Bauer brand tools. They're not low quality tools. They are reliable and in some cases just as well built as the higher end tools. I use my $$$ wisely when I can. Good review for good value tools.
Thank you! The man thing is the tools need to hold up to what you need them for. I feel they are a good value and a well built tool. I really like the large selection and the one battery system. Plus, in the past I have purchased really expensive cordless tools only to watch the technology change and the tool becomes obsolete and you have to find aftermarket batteries just to use them. Thanks again for watching.
Exactly correct, for the average homeowner/Diyer these tools will be completely fine for 99% of the jobs you have. If you were using power tools on a construction site all day everyday then maybe consider spending the dewalt/Milwaukee money. Iv had my Bauer stuff for years and never had issues and always work when I need them to. Thanks!
About a year ago i bought a half inch Bauer impact wrench, i use it twice a year to get blades off a riding lawn mower. Why would i pay 200 dollars for a kobolt or Milwaukee ? I got a old boat trailer imay have to take apart, besides that i hardly ever use it.
I agree, if I were a tradesman then yes I would buy the top end tools because I would be using them every day. But for my home projects, Bauer works great and holds up great. Thanks for watching.
I used to have a big issue with Dewalt chargers. If I drop them even 1 Ft. from the ground they would stop working. After buying 3 chargers I switched to Bauer. I bought 2 Bauer chargers just incase but they're both still working after 1 year. So Harbor Freights gets my approval.
“…and scaring the shop cat” cracks me up!😂😂😂 I’m a Bauer Boy too! My buddies give me crap, but I just built a mega-deck in my backyard. I’m also a monogamous battery user, so once I was impressed with my Bauer 1/4” Impact driver and then the 1/2 drill, I was fully committed!
Just bought a 20v shop vac. Hand held vacuum. 3 speed 3/8 impact. 2 chargers with 2 x 5ah batteries and all kinds of car detailing accessories. Most of these things were in the open box section for a nice chunk of change off. I went in there for a wood chipper...😂😂😂
I started collecting the Bauer 20v tools and was initially satisfied. Seems now my store is out of stock on most items. Probably let the current Bauer stuff wear out while going back to Milwaukee brand.
I love my Bauer tools except for the brushless angle grinder. Half the time it will spin up and after one second it will shut off like it's hitting a rev limiter. I have seen videos here on UA-cam of others with the exact same issue. Now I am buying the Hercules 12v line and have been very pleased with them. And now the Hercules comes with a 5 year warranty which makes up for the price difference of it's Bauer cousin.
That’s a really good point! Plus I think Hercules will catch up with all the great tool options. I just bought the brushless grinder. So we will see how it does for me. I may do a video review either way. If it’s junk people need to know. Thanks so much for watching.
Mine have been great, only 2 returns. 1 bad battery, and I tore up the 10-inch chainsaw. I had a warranty that got another still going. To be honest, my grandfather said I could tear up a anvil with a rubber mallet
Looks like the reviews for are favorable for Bauer Tools. Also learned that Habor Freight (distributor) is an American company founded in 1977. I believe I am going to start migrating over to them. Thanks Gene!
I have had really good luck with the Bauer line. Now Harbor Freight does sell some cheap stuff that won’t hold up as well, but the Bauer and the Hercules lines are really good. Bob, thanks again for watching.
I have the 1/2" drill, 3/4" impact, circular saw, jig saw, saws all. And I absolutely love them 3+ yrs on they all work great still. The 3/4" is not as strong as I'd like burn works. But now after 3 yrs I do need new batteries. Edit: Wanted to add, I'm a maintenance supervisor for a large apt complex so they all get daily use.
@@DIYGene ty for the reply, the only real issue I've had is with the plain plate for the jig saw. It wore out pretty fast and if not careful when making a curved cut, it can change the angle. Ive not owned very many jig saws tho so idk if this is common with many of the budget friendly jigs. But it's still definitely usable. Just have to go slower and take care while cutting. Which I imagine is good practice while using a jigsaw anyway.
Ive had the best luck with Milwaukee its taking me a little longer to get everything but my tools work very well and it helps that my coworker runs a m18 we have tons of batteries and chargers
I have a variety of Bauer tools, mostly 20 volt. I did not get the 20 volt orbital. The corded is often $20 and I always use it at my workbench with a vac attached so the cordless is just heavier and a waste. The 20V Bauer vacuums are great. Love them. The only problem I've had is the chuck on my drill was bad. Died within weeks, so they replaced it free. More and more are going brushless now, so I'm going to avoid buying any that aren't.
I have Bauer nail gun, finishing gun, circular saw, impact, hammer drill and 1/2" drill. They all have exceeded my expectations. I got all the tools for the price of ONE Milwaukee tool 🤷♂️
I've owned 2 cars in 30 years I like to get my "money's worth" Tools are interesting today so many brands and so few Chinese factories... Many are built in the same place. I bought a Harbor Freight chop saw in 2003 to do crown molding in my condo. I figured if it lasted the job it was worth the $35. I lent it to a buddy to do baseboards and I still have the saw and it still works. I agree generally you get what you pay for, but most of us don't need pro level tools. Thanks for the great video.
Hello Joe, My son doesn’t realize that I’m leaving him that old jeep in my will. LOL I think you are right about most of these Chinese tools come out of the same factory. Even Milwaukee is made in China. Thanks again Joe for watching.
@@DIYGene I've seen tear downs where the tools are nearly identical inside. Usually the premium brands have additional features or some better quality components. Those batteries are rated in Amp Hours my thinking a 1aH battery will deliver one Amp for one hour, and a 3 will last 3x as long. Do you really notice a difference with a full charge? Maybe the larger tools need higher amperage initially. I'm old school my saws are corded. I only have three cordless drivers.. My feeling with cordless is everytime I need it the battery is low. I don't use mine often enough. I spend too much time watching videos 😂😂😂
@@joekagerer LoL!, That was my problem with multiple brands. This way I can buy extra batteries. I have heard that the Bauer and the Metebo (Hitachi) are basically the same.
Have you used the bauer cyclone for shop vacs. Mine worked fine for a bit, then created such a vacuum in the harbor freight 5 gal bucket that it sucked the bucket in till it split right up the side. Has this happened to others? I returned it and have a replacement, but I'm concerned with the bucket quality and that it will happen again. Any suggestions, would drilling a hole in the bucket do the trick, or will I lose all my suction?
Yes I have a cyclone, it is not a Bauer but basically the same thing. I have had the same problem with it sucking in the bucket. I have heard of using two buckets inside of each other but I don't know if you would need to glue them together or what. I switched to using square kitty litter buckets and that has worked well: Here is a link to a video where I built a dust collection cart and you can see the buckets I used in it: ua-cam.com/video/yOJQCJOwoOs/v-deo.htmlsi=sT8auTRYSrcdEZBW Thanks for watching.
@DIYGene Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I liked your vacuum cart design. I will give the two bucket idea a try. Love your shop. It's like mine - half of a one car garage. Just working around the table saw is quite a challenge. I usually break 4x8 sheets outside with my circular saw and bring in the smaller pieces. Just finished building my first cabinets and drawers to add some organization to the madness. Thanks again for your help. Looking forward to watching your other videos.

I like Ryobi...good value middle of the road tool that will get the job done! Bauer drill is OK but stay away from the vacuum! Ryobi vac is great! Get an adapter from 18 to 20V lithium battery from your other tools and it will last a long time!
I have the drill for 2 years, it’s no longer click when turn the speed selector, but it still seems to work. I also have the right angle drill. Do they have brushless models?

@@DIYGene you might be surprised! Like I said the 3/8" and the 1/2" Milwaukee performed basically the same, so why the price difference it why a different tool for the same performance?
Wow I just bought one of those. I’m going to put it through the test and do a review. And if it sucks, then I will say it sucks. Will the store take it back? I never do the extended warranty so I’m curious.
@@DIYGene I bought a new one, came home, took the old one apart to see if I could see anything noticeably wrong. Put it all back together now it works perfect.
What I find is that if you use it regularly buy high, if not buy harbor freight. With that everyone rebrands, so is the red Bauer a Milwaukee??? May need to do a comparison. Recently watched a video between 3/8 Milwaukee and 1/2 Milwaukee impact drivers and the results were very close to the same, so why pay more? And if, Bauer is a re-label your saving much. But, tests will need to be done to compare.....
I agree. If I worked in the building industry using the cordless tools every day. I would definitely be using Milwaukee or Dewalt. But as a home DIYer the Bauer works great for me. I wonder how many of all these brands roll out of the same factory. Thanks for watching.

The problem I have with reviews from the USA is that the culture of Americans makes it almost impossible to do a balanced review :) Americans are so raised by saying nice things that it seems they cannot speak out negatives without feeling guilty :) To my opinion a review has to have a balanced negatives versus positives. Otherwise it is just another commercial advertisement of which always has to be in the back of mind that the advertiser might gain from the advertising which makes him not 100% unbiased. Sidenote: Tourists and other visitors from the USA biggest culture shock when they come to my country is that here almost everyone speaks his mind with disregard of it might be stingy a little. The open honesty is appreciated and valued over being polite.
I find that extremely interesting. You are probably right about how we word things. I have more of a tendency to give a review on what works well. If I have a product that I’m not impressed with or is just a bad product, I will not even give it a review. To me that is a waste of everyone’s time. I appreciate your input and love hearing the difference in cultures. Thanks for watching.
@@DIYGene very intetresting as I feel exactly the opposit. A review mainly positive I see as a waist of time and a good facts based negative review is golden as it prevent me from buying something bad :) Cultures differ :) thankyou for the respond :)

I recently watched a video from another UA-camr who had about 6 drills from all the brands including Bauer. He took them all apart and guess what. The were all identical once you remove the plastic. No difference between Bauer or any other. My Bauer collection has been steadily growing for the past year or so. No regrets. Bauer batteries and Dewalt are identical with the exception of some plastic that prevents you from swapping between brands.
You know that doesn’t surprise me at all. I am excited with being able to build my tools around one power source and so far Bauer is doing great. Thanks for the input and for watching.
My rule of thumb is if power tools for work then name brand. But for work and at home stuff almost all harbor freight stuff will do. Pittsburg and chief are good stuff

Couldn't be more pleased with my decision as a DIYer who only occasionally uses the tools. The Bauer value proposition means I can have a variety of tools, due to the lower price, and still have enough reliability that they will last many years with my light usage.

So fare I have had really good luck with them. Thanks so much for watching.
I really like the Hercules tools but at the time they were always out of the batteries. Thanks so much for watching.

I have the full line of Bauer tools. I use them a lot and have had zero problems. I also have the Bauer spotlight which is great!
This makes me feel a lot better about my choice. Thanks for watching.
I’ve had no issues with the circular saw. You just have to use the larger batteries.
@@bdawg-qj9bq that I have noticed. I pretty much just use the small batteries in the drill.

I've been pretty lucky with all those brands early on, and have slowly gone towards the Bauer and Hercules as well as building my Ryobi and Ridgid selection as well. I think if I were able to go back, fresh out of school, and on a tight budget, I would choose the Hercules line of Harbor Freight cordless tools.

However i dont use bauer batterys. I have an adapter to use dewalt style batterys with great success and run time without any issues with tool or batterys.
@@andrewanderson1436 , I haven’t tried that. I wonder if the Dewalt batteries have a longer run time?
@@DIYGene That's a great point.
I was able to find a 5ah on ebay brand new for 40. I love their impacts. Good power and they are cheap
That’s what I’m talking about!
Thanks!
@@garrettj6484, I couldn’t agree more.
That’s great. I am have really good luck with Bauer tools. Plus I can afford to buy them. LOL. Thanks for watching.
I have many Bauer tools- they work great!
Thanks for watching.
“…and scaring the shop cat” cracks me up!😂😂😂
I’m a Bauer Boy too! My buddies give me crap, but I just built a mega-deck in my backyard. I’m also a monogamous battery user, so once I was impressed with my Bauer 1/4” Impact driver and then the 1/2 drill, I was fully committed!
I totally agree. I am really using mine a lot and always watching for 25% off coupons to buy more batteries. Thanks so much for watching.
LOL That’s why I don’t go to Harbor Freight unless there is something specific I need. It’s kinda like going to the grocery store when you’re hungry.
Almost 4 years daily usage of my Bauer Power and not once have they ever let me down!!
Well that’s a good indicator of a good product. Thanks for watching.
Lol, that part with your son was corny, but well-played, got a chuckle outta me :D. Great video!
I do like a good value, LOL. Thanks for watching.
I started collecting the Bauer 20v tools and was initially satisfied. Seems now my store is out of stock on most items. Probably let the current Bauer stuff wear out while going back to Milwaukee brand.
I sometimes have the same problems.
LOL, I say that about my son. Sometimes calling him BamBam.
American company selling almost all Chinese tools. Most everyone is, and it's fine to buy from them, but just clarifying.
@@rexseven6907 you are right. Even Milwaukee is made in China. Go figure
I found a battery adapter to use DeWalt batteries on Bauer tools on Amazon
@@vincentmcdonald505, that’s cool. Can you also use Bauer batteries on Dewalt tools?
I have the 1/2" drill, 3/4" impact, circular saw, jig saw, saws all. And I absolutely love them 3+ yrs on they all work great still. The 3/4" is not as strong as I'd like burn works. But now after 3 yrs I do need new batteries.
Edit:
Wanted to add, I'm a maintenance supervisor for a large apt complex so they all get daily use.
Wow, that is good to know. Makes me feel better about my decision. Thanks for watching.
I like that I can find those on Amazon too. I wonder what factory they are made in. They look like the Skil brand a little.
I have wondered the same thing. I think almost all cordless tools are made from one of 3 or 4 factories.
Ive had the best luck with Milwaukee its taking me a little longer to get everything but my tools work very well and it helps that my coworker runs a m18 we have tons of batteries and chargers
That can be really helpful with the batteries. Milwaukee is getting a really large line of the M18s.
Good advice.
I have Bauer nail gun, finishing gun, circular saw, impact, hammer drill and 1/2" drill. They all have exceeded my expectations. I got all the tools for the price of ONE Milwaukee tool 🤷♂️
@@stevenbrown5210, I have had really great experiences with the Bauer 20v tools. Thanks so much for watching.
LOL
I think you are right about most of these Chinese tools come out of the same factory.

I switched to using square kitty litter buckets and that has worked well: Here is a link to a video where I built a dust collection cart and you can see the buckets I used in it:

@DIYGene Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I liked your vacuum cart design. I will give the two bucket idea a try. Love your shop. It's like mine - half of a one car garage. Just working around the table saw is quite a challenge. I usually break 4x8 sheets outside with my circular saw and bring in the smaller pieces. Do a test between Bauer and Milwaukee and see what ends up..... Is it just rebranded or not??
I don’t think it is and I would hope the Milwaukee would out perform the Bauer for the difference in price alone.
@@DIYGene you might be surprised! Like I said the 3/8" and the 1/2" Milwaukee performed basically the same, so why the price difference it why a different tool for the same performance?
My 20v brushless angle grinder wont run beyond initial start up no matter what battery i put on it cuts off after 2 seconds
Doesn’t matter the size of the battery you’re gonna get 20V regardless. The “amp hours” are how much longer you can use the battery for.
Good point. Thanks for watching.
Recently bought the circular saw and tried using one of my 1.5 batteries. Will work, but seems to run out of power cutting 2X8. Won't cut through the entire board on 1 pass.
