Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

I work in the electronics, alarm, and security industry. I use Craftsman tools daily, the impact driver and drill in the v20 series. Both are brushed and not brushless. I've used them every day for 2 years. I also own a electronics repair store. Long story short after two years, battery life is 90% of new. I have seen other techs have many issues with (insert every premium brand here) units and I have never had an issue. I cut 6" holes with a drill based hole sale with either unit without issue. I can torque down buss bars to 160ft-lb without issue. For $149 when they first came out, well worth it. Also the Samsung's are now v30 brown bombers - known in the vape industry as the defacto 18650. The new battery's coming out in December use quad 21700.

I had issues with a dewalt so I grabbed this drill almost 2 years ago and I really like it. I recently needed/wanted a driver to go with it and I usually do cars so the driver could do double duty and the craftsman didn't rate highly so now I have 2 systems on batteries...oh well. As an aside I have been amazed at the battery on this drill but it is still young.

  • @TheVintageEngineer

That hole on the charger @4:14 is for a clip so it can go on their versatrack wall system. You will see the same type hole on the sides of the power tools as well. As an owner of the old C3 line (made by TTI) and having a couple of the newer tools I will say the C3 was better quality. Most important to me is rubberized coatings on impact points including the battery.

i had a full set of craftsman c3 19.2v that started ni-cad then was able to upgrade to lithium without reolacing the tools. i used this set as a gc and a licensed plumber and it lasted 14yrs. i had to replace the 1/2" hammer drill driver once when i cored a 16" thick solid concrete catchbasin with a ln 8" core bit. it made it through the whole hole, but the next day it smoked out on a 3/8" tapcon bit hole. other wise 2 sawzalls. the rest of the set never had issues. the bulbs in the hand held florescent lights seemed to go out faster than they should have. nut i beat that set hard and it never stopped. i still have 80% of it just cant get batteries anymore except oem. it out lasted 2 dewalt sets, and a Milwaukee. i replaced those tools several times, and had to change battery format. this wasnt homeowner use either. i had employees using these tools which we know if you didnt pay for it its fine to trash it. ill buy craftsman again in a heartbeat. i stopped sinking money in expensive tools. right now i have a mix of ryobi, skil, and Bauer. im more than happy. i still have a couple m12 in use, but wont replace them once they go

I just scored some really sweet old craftsman stuff from the 50's n 60's, in original hard cases and everything. Bench grinder on original stand, ancient lathe, belt sander, jigsaw, all aluminum cased, cool stuff. I was kind of hoping for a revival, but this stuff seems just as junky as the sears stuff, with the exception of being updated to as feasible point. Although those sears craftsman routers are great deals and work fairly well too. Probably the best value in the business right now. SBD really needs to focus on their porter cable line, it's their best value by far, although I feel craftsman is going to muddy the waters in the mid market for them, and really d*ck it up.

Sears never had their own manufacturing plants to make craftsman tools, other tool manufactures made and rebranded them. Stanley Black and Decker bought the Craftsman name early in 2017. Stanley also owns other tool brands including Dewalt.

Start with a sufficient small amount of water equally in each container.
Mark the level on the containers. Prime the pump and adjust the water
levels. Add 2 gal of water to one of them. Don't dally between
forward and reverse (it might siphon). You might add a hose end

      directions.

That weird protrusion on the charger, I’m not sure if it’s there by design but when it’s on my bench at work and I need to remove the battery, that plastic bit hits the lip of the bench and gives me enough room to get the battery out. If it wasn’t there I’d go to grab the battery and the battery would make contact with the lip. It’s hard to explain but take that charger and put it on a table against a wall (putting the charger all the way against the wall) and you will see what I mean when you go to take the battery out. Im a mechanic and I’ve been using this drill along side the 1/4 drive impact and I can say they are both very ATF proof. The drill has enough torque for most jobs. The chuck steel is a little on the soft side and gets chowdered up easy. The forward reverse switch sucks with gloves. The gears also whine pretty loud when you have a wire brush which puts side loads on the gear box.

Als got a 70.00 grinder. (also Amazon). Broke all of these tools in by murdering them. 6 months later, their all perfectly fine in a professional environment. May upgrade to the triple hammer impact driver, but I already snap adapters in half with the little guy. My 15 plus year old Dewalt 12v drill driver and 2 ( 1.5ah) batteries that is made in China is doing great. I use it every day and throw it when I'm mad. 15 years and it runs like a champ and the batteries still hold a charge like new. These overpriced newer tools are not impressive. It's a game of who can be cheaper and still sell this crap. Milwaukee is retarded expensive, Dewalt seems like overpriced junk, Kobalt looks OK ish until they change the line and you're screwed. I dunno. I'm happy with the Hitachis and will update every few months.

I would just relocate the same pump pickup/exhaust ports to the bottom of each tank, that way the pump is primed with water/fluid so it doesn't matter how fast the impeller is spinning to move said fluid therefore removing the necessity for higher RPMs only available on higher end ones. Thanks for the uploads and have a good one bud.

I think you're onto the right idea.........put the intake and discharge hoses in the same tank along with the pump. Connect the drill to the pump with a longer shaft so the pump and hoses can be completely submersed while keeping the drill dry. Then turn on the drill at it's lowest speed to prime the pump, once primed, run it at full speed.

I was thinking of using a small waterbrake dyno. I think land n sea makes a tiny one but that may be cost prohibitive. Otherwise I would build a brake rotor dyno and control it with an arduino ( or possibly the ardyno)

So, let me understand this water transfer test .. Are you saying that the 1500 RPM setting isn't fast enough to prime the pump?
Craftsman says it's a 2-Speed gearbox with speeds of 0-350/0-1,500
When you were looking at the battery case, reference the large metal strip. I couldn't tell for sure from the video, but wasn't that a bi-metal strip? If so, that would be the overheat protection.

Hey Bear, looking at the battery chart I see the Ryobi P193 6000 mAh battery shows a price of $119 but that price is actually for a two pack, so using that criteria that puts the Ryobi batteries at the top of the list.
I am not a fan of Ryobi tools, but when you buy them in the bundles, I consider them to be the best tool *_value_* available. Example, right now you can get a hammer drill, impact driver, sawzall, full-size skill saw, saber saw, 3Ah HP battery, 2Ah battery, battery charger and a carry bag for $259 and *_all_* of the tools are brushless! Add a 10% coupon or military discount and there is *_no way_* that you can beat a deal like that. They are offering similar bundles for the same price with different tools. Years ago I paid $300 just for my Dewalt hammer drill/battery kit.

It's a good 60 dollar drill. My only gripe is that Stanley branded it a craftsman product. I get it, Craftman was never considered top of the line but they still marketed great products throughout thier time. Imagine however if this drill was the buyers first purchase of a craftsman product, it would tarnish their perspective on all things Craftsman.

  • @jdreynolds29
    @jdreynolds29 5 років тому +2

Here's an idea for your test rig instead of the water pump since the Craftsman obviously can't hack it and your thinking other equipment may not either you can use drill winch. It is very similar to your water pump test except for the fact that you can change the capacity of it by changing the weight that you are trying to lift with it. This is perfect for you because you won't be wearing it out like you are the water pumps and having to run out to the store and get a new one or 10 of them like you said you only need one and you can put whatever size weight you want on it for whatever kind of test you're trying to do. You want a duration test put a smaller weight to see how many times you can lift it at a given height and weight. You want a strength test see how much it can lift 1 pull keep adding more weight. You want strength and endurance test how much can it pull and how high can it pull it

I entirely agree with you I just bought this drill, not impressed. I bought it because my 5275.1 C3 1/2" Driver shaft snapped and Craftsman Club blew me off because I didn't keep the original receipt. So my question is ...can I replace the shaft. The old drill is great, I can't even see a part number. Was hoping you could help.

I built some heavy duty shelves in shed with 2×4 and it worked fine I also used the kreig gig a lot doing this project drilling a lot holes and it work just fine in fact I tried to use my dewalt driving drill to drill some holes cause I was lazy to change bits with the craftsmans drill and the dewalt could not drill the holes , obviously that drill is not made for that purpose ,what I'm trying to say that you can do some pretty rough work with the craftsmans drill and it will work fine for a home owner, you can do more than just drill some holes on the sheet rock actually you can use it for carpentry work.

@@worldofzap yeah there's a world of difference in doing something with little to no torque for a long time verses doing something with a lot of torque, like 3" wood screws into oak/hardwood. That's where you really separate the cubs from the papa bears.

They seem more powerful than the Bauer line but, not quite there with Hercules line.

My tool brand preference in order
    1.kobalt 24v
    2. De Walt 20v
    3. Milwaukee 18v
But my question is why is the drill being slow important.... your suppose to drill slow... and driving screws a little slower isn’t a big deal and will probably result in less camming out. Maybe it just has a steeper fear reduction? But it’s probably just a lower grade motor.

Although I haven't tried it , if you turn your water test upside down (letting gravity act to prime the pump) you could still keep the same methodology, You just need to suspend the Utz containers and waterproof the connections.
Also a phototach to actually read the RPMs might be nice.

For a more fair test you could get a dc motor, hook it up to the chuck and connect it to some high power resistors. Then get an energy meter (around 10$ from ebay) and measure the energy the motor outputs. Even better would be an electronic load connected to the dc motor, but it's more $$$.
