I always thought this was a weird way to close the album. After The Other Side it seemed weird to end on such a dark note. The acoustic guitar at the end gave me a sense of completion, but it felt like something was left behind. Now after hearing Kin, I understand completely. You don’t go through some shit like Phil went through and walk away perfectly fine once it’s over. It has ripples that affect you even after the worst has transpired. Thus, even though Phil left The Valley, “The Devil is alive.” In I Will Find You, when Phil says “The Devil is dead,” he’s talking about thinking you’re over something just because some time has passed, but in reality it’s still out there, and it will find you eventually.

Incredible music video! (1:46) Hickory Creek: 1:55 The woman entity could represent Phil's mother fading away. We Are One? (2:00) [The hands?] also at 2:18 (the demons? as in the song "...But we all still look the same"): it's about the personality disorder his mother suffered. Brimstone (2:39) : from the bible, people burning like that in hell, it could also represent Forgiveness is Weakness? The Other Side (4:06) Lovelace (1:08): Phil's call for help and getting lost. We could also add 0:57.

And I know in time, the devil I will find
The devil I will find
In time, I will escape
But in this place my soul remains encased
The leaves have swallowed the sun
My heart has reached absolute zero
I have no one left
Even my shadow has died on me
She's gone and I want to disappear, disappear
Take me away into the trees
I dread the sun to rise
Bury me so the night will never end
Tear him from his mother's hands
Turn this young boy to a man
Don't you cry for him now
Tear him from his mother's hands
Turn this young boy to a man
Now his destiny's found
Don't walk to the darker side
But where the light shines, the devil is alive
I've seen hell through a child's eyes
