You are gifted. Your videos are always excellent. You are articulate, very knowledgeable and present a wealth of knowledge in a very short time. Thank you.
This is a "must see" video for ALL of us... with or without previous experience. This gentleman's videos are always exceptional in every way. Thank you, many times over!
Having watched hundreds of videos over the past decades for; drones, RC planes, model builders, etc. I put your site as 'The Very First, The Best Place, to Start With a Drone' that I would recommend. Fantastic and essential content, perfect pace, every second of your videos is precious information. I got my first drone a few weeks ago and I am devouring your videos, watching them over and over again, each one containing so much essential knowledge that multiple views and taking notes on paper are essential to keep.
Thanks Matthew, just bought my first drone, the mini 3 pro, and checked out your videos before starting. They are really helpful and what’s more really enjoyable to look at. Also the accessories you’re describing in other videos are already part of my ‘drone gear’. Till the next video! Cheers, Rainier.
Cheers, mate, all the tips are great, specially the one about the C mode and N mode, I never checked that before and I was wondering why the drone is so not Cine like. Stay safe, bless your heart :)
What a great guidance video. Just to add to your sticks attached when putting the RC into a camera bag advice, which is a good piece of advice, which is why I was surprised when I receive my RC to find the sticks attached to a protruding thread on the controller, a male, opposed to a female thread. I have gotten into the habit of literally checking the RC once in my bag to make sure the threaded lugs aren’t being forced into a non neutral position for the reasons you mention.
Another great video Mattheww. I often wondered at first why the drone was moving so quick, and like you say, the controller automatically switches on with normal mode, even when you're switched to cine mode. Didn't know about the memory on the sticks if squashed into your bag! You should do a vid of your studio and what equipment you like to use, editing software etc... Thanks mate!
Excellent and comprehensive video Matthew! The only thing I would add, from personal experience, is to be aware that if you have made changes to reduce the sensitivity of your drone’s braking (for cinematic results), your stopping time will be greatly reduced.
We are going to Australia/NZ in a couple of months. I am preparing through research and using country specific drone apps to get ready and make sure I'm within the laws of each country
As always a very useful. educational and practical video, thanks for this! One thing I'd like to share from my experience with the DJi Mini 3 Pro that can hopefully save pilots from a potential horror scenario _and_ something I haven't seen any warnings for so far is related to hyperlapse filming. I strongly recommend to never shoot longer hyperlapses than 8 seconds. On 10 seconds there's a serious chance a fully charged standard battery will drain completely when attempting this. The catch: a DJI Mini 3 Pro will NOT stop it's lapse shooting mode when this happens, RTH will not even kick in and the drone will NOT respond to the control sticks so if you're unaware of this and panic when you see you have less battery time left than the lapse takes to finish, the only way to stop it from crashing is too _always stop the lapse shooting manually_ by pressing the red record button on the right of the screen. It's really the only way to stop a crash from happening. For this, it would be great if a low battery emergency RTH would bypass everything, but it doesn't work on hyperlapse filming. Yet.
Another one is that the APAS system doesn't have any control over braking level, so if you've set a low braking sensitivity for smoother deceleration, then even if it detects that it's heading straight towards a brick wall, it won't necessarily brake abruptly enough to avoid hitting it, which is crazy. Combine that with the flight mode not being set to whatever the RC's physical switch is set to on startup and you're starting to build quite a list of what I would call significant bugs...
Hello Mattheww - many thanks for publishing another great video - I enjoy all your videos because although I am flying my air2s and my mini 3pro since some months, I learn something new or you show me that some of my ideas to fly safe are not that wrong. When i started flying drones, i first learned to control the drone safe and for me it was more important to know everything about the options to fly safe than to make good videos. The issue to make good fotos or videos is step 2 after controlling the drone safe and without high blood pressure. When I am safe with the flight conditions and my personal skills, then I can enjoy making nice video footage without getting stressed - and your tips and tricks are helping a lot. So keep on making nice vidoes like this one - I am a very interested follower! Thanks from Germany 😃
This gentleman is so concise in his presentations that the vast amount of knowledge he is imparting is relatively easy to absorb, where most other channels wander off into distractions. It was precisely this that I could very happily subscribe to this channel and I unsubscribed to all the others I had joined, as now I don’t need them as everything I need is in this vast collection of video presentations on this channel.
Excellent information! I just received my Mini 3 Pro today, so I'm educating myself before my first flight. Your videos have been tremendously helpful. Your views of the Irish coast are really good. I live half a kilometer from the Atlantic Ocean in the southeast USA with white, sandy beaches as far as the eye can see. Very beautiful, but in a different way. Thanks!
Great advice and tips as always Mathew, for newbies like me , id say mandatory watching!👍 The editing and colourgrading tip really hit home !(guilty as charged😉) Less is more 👍👍👍🎥 awsome
Great video and excellent advice I could've used two weeks ago... my DJI Mini 3 Pro took a swim in a public pond... managed to retrieve and got her working again thankfully!
Good point on the video transitions, it's not necessary to have one for every different shot. Can't stop myself from transitioning to the beat of the music tho!
Thanks I’m new to the mini 3 pro and I’m trying to figure it out, as well I have the goggles Integra and motion controler need to figure out how to set everything up and use it.
I have just acquired a mini 3 pro and am wondering why they don't make it so that you can make controller the home point. Seems like it would solve a lot of issues while hiking, boating, etc. where you don't want the drone returning to the take off point.
Once again brilliant and thanks. I put mine into Sports to see if I could get close in for flower pictures in inaccessible places such as overhanging the river. Tried it over land first. Didn’t get focused close enough to the subject, reversed away, clipped blades of grass and downed the aircraft! Still it gave me the chance to use Find My Drone in the grass😂That worked nicely so I didn’t tread on it😅
Hi Matthew. Eddie here in Worcestershire. Thank you for so many excellent video tutorials on the Mini 3 Pro. I now own one and find there are so many things to learn about it that it is stopping me from getting the best video and photo shooting with it. Thanks to your tutorials I am slowly getting there ! Can you please tell me what video post editing software uou are using please Matthew as I have nothing at the moment. Keep teaching us Newbies please ! ! ! Best Regards - Eddie.
Thank you so much for these videos sir, I’ve reasonably bought a mini 3 pro but not taken it out yet, I’m watching all your content first. One question for now is, how far can it fly away from you without losing the signal?
I really enjoyed this video…even though I’ve been flying for many years. One common mistake is flying the drone without maintaining line of sight signal. This too can easily lead to loss or destruction!
I had an odd experience with my Mini 3 that other people should be aware of. I was filming in a relatively flat area (no hills or mountains) so any crook in the horizon was very apparent. I decided to adjust the horizon manually (cheat the landscape, the earth is not perfectly round) to make the video appear that the horizon was straight. I had my hands off the sticks, I went into the settings and started adjusting the horizon. While I was in settings the quad moved more than 100' and yawed about 90 degrees, I thought it was doing a RTH or getting blown down river but it wasn't, winds were light about 7 mph with gusts no higher than 15 mph. When I got out of settings the quad was fine. I had control and it was not in RTH. I have heard of this happening to other people flying the Mini 3 and one person did crash.
You made a very important point about color grading and transition. Far to often I find myself using more than I should but I can't seem to tell. Is there like an unspoken rule about this in photography
Just use less than you think you need 😄 Better yet, walk away from anything you're working on for a while and come back with fresh eyes; when you've been working on an edit your eyes become desensitised to whatever treatment you're applying so you tend to overdo it, but of course your audience won't be affected by that phenomenon, so keep it subtle.
On the first point, my understanding of RTH is that is also prompted when the drone determines the amount of battery to get back to the home point could be exceeded. If tracking, say in a car, that could be a big problem. Is there a quicker way of updating the home point with the back buttons on the RC?
I haven't seen that in the list of assignable functions, sadly. They should add a few more to the list, but that would be a particularly useful one, especially being a safety feature.
When u see that its going wrong your drone is going hit something after few meters is there a emercency button to stop all actions and just hang in the air?
I had a moment of panic because just this week I put my controller back in my bag with the sticks attached - but only while I was driving a few minutes between locations (and I tried to keep the sticks from being pressed), so it sounds like it should be fine. 😌Normally I'm quite meticulous about putting it away properly. I also discovered the difficulty of hand-catching in strong wind back in December! Usually we don't get very strong wind here in Hawaii where I normally fly so it was kind of my first experience with it, and I'll pay more attention to windspeed in future. (I managed it, ultimately, just had to be pretty quick with the grab! 😄)
very good information bro. last week i lost my new mini 3 pro drone . i hardly used it for 1 day after purchase. i stupidly flew my drone from a running cruise and hence i lost it in the ocean . i tried my best to RTH the drone but it didnt came back to me as i havnt updated the homepoint which was a big stupid mistake of mine resulting it gone for good. i lost 1300 $$ within a few seconds . lessons learned. now i understood the reason why it didnt came back to me. your video gonna help other people also as it explains the way of correctly using the drone. Thank you for this video tutorial. subscribed your channel mate.

Hi Matthew. Had my dji rc die on me before I even used it. Charged it with dji 30w charger. Was this a mistake?
If you're using active tracking on your bicycle, how do you get the drone to land in a different spot than your launch?

Hi Mattheww, do you suspect that the spray coming off the wave, could interrupt the controller signal? Again in the case of spray from a waterfall?

Hello, I'm wondering something. Do the obstacle sensors work in return-to-home mode? If it works, will override and stop modes cause problems? thanks.
No, that why it climbs first to an altitude you set where you are sure it won't hit something.
