Hi Russ, I agree, range test aren't important but if Tesla says their electric cars will go 500 miles between charges we want proof. If DJI says mini 3 will go 10 miles we want proof. A youtuber named Fly Zone has listed you as an influencer not willing to test its range out. Please use a spotter and do a range test for us..
@@alienpixelgaming3803 Range tests are very illegal as per the FAA in the U.S. Flying a drone beyond where you can see it in the sky is strictly forbidden. Do I fly beyond? Of course, everyone does, but putting it on UA-cam is asking for an immediate email from the FAA and a possible fine. I'm not willing to put my business at risk to appease others. A spotter is not legal either. The verbiage explicitly states that the spotter MUST be in immediate proximity of the pilot in command. There's no getting around it. Other UA-camrs will do a true range test, I guarantee it. Dustin Dunhill does one with every drone in Hawaii. Watch his channel if you want to see a real range test. The FAA has ignored range tests up to this point, but I don't plan to be the first one to post evidence online.

As a real pilot, you'll probably feel quite "underwhelmed" because of just how easy it is to control these modern drones. The tech made it as easy as in a video game, I'm definitely not complaining but don't expect to need any critical skills on the joysticks ;)
Can the DJI Fly app also automatically eliminate propeller noise and merge your audio track with your footage to ensure clear sound even when shooting low-altitude vlogs.
I bit the bullet. I just got the Mini 2 literally 3 days ago for my birthday and then the 3 comes out 🤦♂️. I'm now going to return it back to Costco and order the 3 online. For now though I'm going to practice on the 2 since I have 90 days to return it 😅
Watched a ton of Mini 3 Pro videos today, but wanted to say that your video breakdown was the best of the bunch between the personalized sections, unique tips, and great detail. Being a cinematographer with a love for drone work on the side, the technical focus was greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the video info on this drone.. You sold me on the mini 3 pro. As a beginner photographer and drone flyer I'm looking very much forward to the next few months. I'm studying now for my 107 hope to be flying by the end of March 23 and taking fantastic videos
Definitely the most comprehensive video so far. Granted the event was half an hour ago, but i appreciate so much detailed information so quickly. Thank you!
@DmProductions has the best and most comprehensive videos to date for the last week for the #Djimini3pro . The only channel for the last week able to post videos while all the big influencers released their videos today.
I'm late to the game on this one I know. The only thing I can see that I don't like is not being able to broadcast footage from the drone to the transmitter without having to have 2 SD cards. I understand the logic behind it but at the same time it's slightly inconvenient. Still gonna buy one though!
Prop arms are to accommodate the larger props, and to keep the props out of the camera view when the camera is looking up 60 degrees. The larger props allow for a lower RPM to hover, which makes it quieter, and more efficient. My old 2015 Yuneec Typhoon had huge 11" props, also one of the quietest drones I've flown because of the slower prop speed.
Well, I had already purchased the mini 3 before I watched your video. And it is very informative. Been flying for just under a month and I discovered the drone does not see white and was playing around a garage door with obstacle avoidance the drone would have crashed if I did not stop it. And I thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos.
I have the Mavic 2 Pro and been wanting a small drone for some things. I'm loving what I'm hearing about this thing. It really seems like such a capable drone in a small package.
6:47 Actually, overheating is to be expected when the drone is not flying. The cooling system is relying on the propellers to be spinning in order to get the proper cooling it requires. Regarding shooting in 4K60 on a hot day, I flew continuously and recorded everything until all my 3 batteries were empty and there have been no overheating warnings or anything, so I'm guessing it's fine. Thanks for taking the time and making this video!
What a brilliant review! With the authorities always tightening regulations on safety, this is also a serious professional tool if flying in conjested areas. As a commercial pilot, your review has convinced me that I need one. Many thanks!
Very detailed and informative review Russ. Really appreciate the time and dedication you bring to the drone community. Been watching since my first drone and will continue to be a supporter of your work and channel.
Thanks so much for this presentation. Awesome work, as always. I’ve been flying and photographing/videoing ever since my Phantom 4K Pro which is at least 5 years past now. My own Mini Pro 3 arrived via UPS this very morning. I’m just stunned at how small it is, and how light. My wife (who also flies) and I decided to order this little drone as soon as it was announced because the specs looked so impressive. DJI has always pretty much told the truth about their products, so we took a chance on it before seeing anyones reviews. Looks like we made the right choice. And we’re getting some help right out of the gate from this video. Thanks again, Russ. You always come through with “the good stuff” in your videos.
Great work. I just started my channel a little over a year ago. Here's to your success in 2023!!! I hope to unlock the "Super Thanks" feature next year. #cheers

I personally LOVED going vertical on my Mavic Pro for my photos. It's great to see it back and this may motivate me to get rid of my Mavic 2 Pro amongst other things. I like making photos for my own personal use and to share with my community as a hobbyist. I've never been interested in going commercial, I honestly fly just to reset from life. Strongly considering this drone...
Trying to decide on the 2 or 3 for my first drone. Mainly going to use it to spot openings and go over hunting ground. I'm sure I'll use for more stuff as I get used to flying a drone
Woof! Studied up on this one and ordered it this morning. The Fly More kit too. .. then found your video, lol. This old vet thanks you for your hard work and the peace of mind I have now. $1400 bucks (Washington Tax Theft $130) is a stretch, but starting cheap and constantly upgrading would certainly cost far more by the time one arrives at this much quality. Do it right the first time. Go big or go home. Kudos Russ! Seems I have to wait nearly a month....... ouch.
Just got mine from amazon with the nicer controller. My first ever "real" drone.. I'm used to buying the 100$ drones that automatically fly into a wall and shatter like glass. I feel like a pro with this drone.. so from a starters perspective, this is a good choice. I did turn the side to side motion off and object avoidance on. Its a very windy day and the drone was able to stay quite still. Each battery lasted me about 25 minutes for the drone. Neighborhood cats do not approve. Looking forward to flying it again tomorrow, just wish I had more batteries.
I would absolutely love a quickshot mode like rotate around an object where it will rotate a little longer. It would be nice to be able to edit rotations around objects into endless loops without it speeding up and slowing down at the loop point. In other words; it would be nice if you could create a loop point where the speed is constant.
Russ, you are the go to guy for honest reviews. You continuously provide well thought out content. Thanks for the hard work and incredible amounts of information. I don't feel I can make really informed choices without watching your content first. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Russ for the great and informative video. I live in ND too and have had very few opportunities to take my Mini 2 out because of the weather conditions lately. That is just a testament to how amazing the Mini 3 is, to be able to keep the image so steady in the wind conditions during our blizzards. Thank you again, and I am looking forward to more of your reviews.
Great video BTW. I item I would like to see is the ability to record /save flight patterns and fly them over and over by just picking a past flight from a saved list. That way it would be easy for us to fly a certain pattern over and over. I know this can happen with 3rd party, but we should easily be able to do that via the logs that are kept for each flight.
Russ, great video as usual! I was a bit surprised to see that only the "DJI Mini 3 Pro (DJI RC)" for $909 will begin shipping at the end of May 2022. The two other less expensive offerings "DJI Mini 3 Pro" for $759 and the "DJI Mini 3 Pro (No RC)" for $669 won't start shipping until August 2022. The lower banner on the DJI page shows this "DJI Mini 3 Pro (No RC) will be available starting in August of 2022." The only way to get a DJI Mini 3 Pro before the late part of summer in North America is to buy one with the DJI RC controller. A bit disappointing.
My first thought regarding set filming moves was that it would be great if the programmable buttons could record several moves - like a macro in excel. So press record, do the moves, then repress the button to store a fixed flying combination, Alternatively it would be great if the software was opensource so developers could add functionality. It looks like a great drone and I have pre-ordered. Thanks for the video
As usual, one of the best new reviews of the Mini 3 Pro. Just a couple of questions. Does the spherical panorama shot take advantage of the much larger vertical range of the gimbal? And is it possible to output video to an external HDMI monitor via the second USBc port on the new Smart Controller. Looking forward to more of your great videos on the Mini 3
Related to that what is the number of pixels or size of the dJI generated sherical panorama. The mini 2 really gives a very low resolution DJI generated panorama.
Great, thorough review. One question, what megapixel size are the RAW files when you choose JPEG + RAW? Curious if the 48MP RAW option is what DJI is saying. Thanks!
Thank you for your diligence on this, Russ! You really paid attention to detail and passed it along effectively. It looks like the Mini 3 Pro handled flying in the snow just fine, despite its apparent lack of an IP rating. No moisture problems afterwards?
Good video. Subscribed to learn more about the Mini 3 Pro. 73 yrs old and very brand-new to the drone world. Was a military and civilian helicopter pilot, and this is as close to flying again that I can afford. The more videos watched, the more it seems it's learning how to be a 'PHOTOGRAPHER-while-flying'. Look forward to watching more videos about the MINI 3 PRO. Thank you.
I have been away from drones for a while, actually quite a while. I was blown away with all the features and then I noticed that this video was two years old! Oh my….
Excellent presentation Thank You Russ! One of the thing DJI could improve and make their interface even more convenient and fun to work with would be to enhance their programming features for waypoints. Adding 3 key elements: GPS coordinates, point recording while flying and allowing to setup fly altitude lower than 2m. Ideally, this could be done on the remote and on a computer through the personal DJI account. I am struggling with few requests asking to fly with different constraints and such feature would help tremendously if available.
If/when DJI releases an SDK there is the possibility for third party apps to do this: "Litchi" is one that has some of what you're asking for on other DJI platforms, but the dev is waiting for DJI to release an SDK "Litchi is compatible with: Mini 2, Mini SE, Air 2S(*), Mavic Mini 1, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 2 (Zoom/Pro), Mavic (Air/Pro), Phantom 4 (Standard/Advanced/Pro/ProV2), Phantom 3 (Standard/4K/Advanced/Professional), Inspire 1 (X3/Z3/Pro/RAW), Inspire 2 and Spark." "Litchi is *NOT* compatible with Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 as DJI has not released a developer SDK for these drone models yet"
@@Zerububble thank you for the advice. Problem with stepping out of "official" apps is that .....your are stepping out of standards.....not sure if one problem solved would then create 10 others.
Russ, you're always my first stop relating to all things drone, and no exception here with the release of the Mini3P. I'm looking to upgrade from my Mavic 3 Pro for travelling convenience and it sounds from your vlog that it's time now to "pull the trigger." Thanks for all the time you take to provide me the info I need to make an informed decision. Really, thanks very much.
Hello, Great overview video! One Question: does drone currently allow upload of flight plans, or does it have good advanced features to automate grid flights for use in creating orthomosaic maps, images, and 3D models?
Thank you for your video, very comprehensive. I'm considering this drone for the fact that it's sub 250 grams and yet still has some amazing qualities (considering its size, of course). That said, I'm a bit confused about the geozone. I'm in Canada, and the bottom line here is that a micro drone is "allowed" to fly pretty much anywhere, but for emergencies (forest fire zones etc.), and still not allowed to fly in close proximity to a military base. Barring those few restrictions, you "can" (whether you "should" or not is really THE question!) legally fly almost anywhere. So, why does DJI enforce geozones on a drone that really doesn't have any issues with legal flight? I realize you aren't DJI and may not know the answer, but I'd appreciate your thoughts on this regardless. It makes no sense to me. It defeats the purpose (in my mind) of having a sub 250 gr drone.
I'll disagree with needing lateral sensors instead of rear sensors. Both times I've crashed my Mavic Pro is when I was flying backward. I'm looking forward to this drone being available in a few months.
The 3DR Solo drone had a quick shot called Zipline. If I remember correctly, you could set the zip line vertical, horizontal, all varying degrees of angles, and vary the speed at which the drone ran along the line, and it would keep the subject in frame, even if it was moving. Would like to see DJI add something like that.
Just bought my M3P 2 days ago and I'm super excited. Now, I'm memorizing the entire transcript of your video/review so I can bore my wife and daughter with why my new "boy toy" is so awesome! Thanks for being a legend Russ.😊👍

I will be receiving my new mini 3Pro in a couple of days. Your video provided me with some great information to get me started and to know more about the drone before it was delivered. Thank You..
I realise that this video is about 1 year old, as a Professional Wildlife photographer living in England (Mainly stills but some video) I have just purchased my first DJI Mini 3 Pro and your video was not only informative but also a very good watch. I will only be using the drone to highlight habitats for wildlife here in the UK but I still found your video extremely interesting, who knows, I may even take up drone flying as a hobby. Thanks again, and stay well. Regards from across the pond :-)
I just bought my first drone. It's the DJi mini 3 pro, and i love it. I've flew rc helicopters, but this drone is just awesome. I've noticed over heating when updating and when its plugged in my computer so i got a little usb fan just to blow down the vents at the front. This helps.
I just purchased the DJI Mini 3 Pro then I found your video. Great video it made me happy about my purchase. I look forward to many more concerning the Mini 3 Pro. Thanks Danny

As always you did an excellent job and I know I just saw this video and you did it over a year ago. I've used mine since before you did this and the biggest thing I noticed was that it is sooooooooooo quiet. I have bunches of video's of deer that I was able to get very close without them getting upset at all. I've gotten to within 6 feet because after awhile they got so used to it they weren't afraid. I've gotten very close to entire flocks of wild turkeys and my followers on my Facebook page just love all the wildlife things I've done. Mini 3 Pro is my goto for Pennsylvania wildlife. Thanks for you expertise and the way you get into the products you deal with.

I have used a mini 2 for the last year. I love it. Even though I almost got arrested at San Marco Piazza in Venice. I just got 2 (crashed) mini 3 drones at auction. One is a Pro with video controller. Fantastic. Both fly. Both record, but both have stuck gimbals. I will be ordering gimbal rubbers for the mini 3 Pro. The other I don't know the issue. Thank you for this video. I crash the drone in a lake while on sport mode and the people on the boat said it look like it just did a nose dive!! I thought I just screwed up (I’m sure I did) BUT now seeing this video I don’t feel so bad that I crashed it and lost it in a lake. I have a new one and love it. thank you for the video!
Great stuff thanks. Yes mine switched off a couple of times at home while I adjusted etc. I now sit it on my laptop cooling pad while investigating settings.
I bought a cheap video drone several years back and I was very limited on my selection. I don't own a cell phone of any kind and almost all drones required one for the controller. So, I purchased the best one with a built in screen on the controller. Now I see that there's a wider variety of controllers with built in screens. So, I'm considering buying one again after seeing this. Thanks!

yes the speeding up and slowing down kind of ruin the shot
You Can use the “poi” (point of view) mode, which makes it rotating around a object until you stop it, and at the speed you decide
Thank you for this very complete review…now, I think that I will go with a mini 3 pro as a starter drone…and devote some time to learn how to work it!
Very informative, thanks for going the extra mile to “show” everything rather than simply explain
The lower banner on the DJI page shows this "DJI Mini 3 Pro (No RC) will be available starting in August of 2022."
The only way to get a DJI Mini 3 Pro before the late part of summer in North America is to buy one with the DJI RC controller. A bit disappointing.
I’m willing to bet even the RC bundles will sell out quickly..
Very disappointing. I did not know this until today.
Thank you this was really clear and helpful!
A USB c to hdmi cable does not work. Dji didn't implement that even though it might seem logical
If/when DJI releases an SDK there is the possibility for third party apps to do this: "Litchi" is one that has some of what you're asking for on other DJI platforms, but the dev is waiting for DJI to release an SDK
"Litchi is compatible with: Mini 2, Mini SE, Air 2S(*), Mavic Mini 1, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 2 (Zoom/Pro), Mavic (Air/Pro), Phantom 4 (Standard/Advanced/Pro/ProV2), Phantom 3 (Standard/4K/Advanced/Professional), Inspire 1 (X3/Z3/Pro/RAW), Inspire 2 and Spark."
"Litchi is *NOT* compatible with Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 as DJI has not released a developer SDK for these drone models yet"
Thanks amazing review
This was great! Nice job! I’m so looking forward to when my M3P is delivered.
Are you predicting a Sony style failure?
@@S3dINS I don't understand what you are trying to say.
Tapfly.
I remember that quick shot.
Just bought my M3P 2 days ago and I'm super excited. Now, I'm memorizing the entire transcript of your video/review so I can bore my wife and daughter with why my new "boy toy" is so awesome! Thanks for being a legend Russ.😊👍
Excellent thorough review sir and I purchased mine today. I appreciate your work. You earned a Follower.
I was very impressed with the brightness and clarity of night videos this drone delivers
As a pro photographer I've never really considered a drone ... but you've whetted my appetite! Good stuff - thanks
would love to text you but that’s not a format I understand!
🙂
DJI should try a helix quick shot that ends with the camera to lose focus on the subject and do a background reveal.
Good video, I just bought this drone with the RC controller I think it was 960 bucks ,you can't beat that price , interesting I never thought of the bigger battery making it more stable, you're right calling in a Powerhouse I think I have to agree with what I see, thanks for the video and I just subscribed
I’m a trucker who wants to catch some of the surrounding areas I drive so thanks for putting this out
Enjoyed the video thank you. I did have a laugh at the 'Blizzard' you mentioned at 2:00, snow fall and mild winds (or so it seems)
I flew a drone for the first time last week and before I did that, I searched for videos to get a little bit familiar with it before hand. Your channel and approach are the best I've seen so far. Congrats and thanks. Cheers
Excellent presentation, thank you Russ.
U could of been a teacher, very well spoken, easy going, but informative! Thank u for the video. Keep em coming
I will be receiving my new mini 3Pro in a couple of days. Your video provided me with some great information to get me started and to know more about the drone before it was delivered. Thank You..
Just saw a mini 3 pro at a police conference in Cherokee, NC this week. Very responsive and quiet during the demo! Thank you for your 51 Drone site!!!
This helps.
Thank you, I have just purchased this drone and I pick it up at the weekend, I watched a lot of your videos and I am most grateful for them.
Great video! I will start sparing money for this beauty! :)
The best channel so far ! Congrats, it just triggered the geek in me ! Love it
I just purchased the DJI Mini 3 Pro then I found your video. Great video it made me happy about my purchase. I look forward to many more concerning the Mini 3 Pro. Thanks Danny
I fly mine all the time in hotter than 90degree days, I have no problem at all using a 256 Gig memory card. I even fly the drone after the sun goes down getting pretty videos, I just love it!!! I did not get my commercial license yet so I have not been posting my videos yet...
Thanks
Thank you so so much for taking the time to make this video! Super helpful. Subscribed!
Agreeing with several commenters here, this is among the best overall “reviews” of any product I’ve ever seen! I owned (and lost) a Mavic in 2015,…it’s now finally time to do this again and I believe you’ve convinced me that this little guy is the way to go…Thank you!
I'm buying one, it will be my first drone. I'm in the Construction business and too old to crawl on roofs of two story homes. I appreciate your input for sure.
I bought this as a gift for my brother. I’m so excited for him to use it! 😁
Thank you very much for this awesome and detail personal review. It made me subscribe👍I’ll be watching your channel from now on for more. I love drones and your video is very helpful. You can’t find the things you talking about anywhere else because you personally test them. Thanks you again
Thanks for your video.
OUTSTANDING presentation of EXTREMELY important and useful information.
Thank you.
Thank you for your review and update of this DJI Minin 3 Pro drone. The review was spot on, and has convinced me to order one now. I will continue to watch you videos, and I hope you share more information with us on this new device.
Thanks!
Ordered mine and waiting on DJI to ship it. Thanks for the information, great work and I always enjoy your videos.
The best review so far, covers all aspects.
Fantastic review. Wish all reviews were like this and so detailed. You definitely know your tech. I appreciate how long it takes to put such a great informative video together like this. Thanks for a great video.
I subbed. To show my support. I know the more subs the better. But. My dude. You are. Lol. You remind me of me. This is how I would do it. I truly appreciate the OCD. The detail. The explanation. 10 Stars. Thanks brutha!
Just bought one of these yesterday. I really appreciate all of the info and time that was put into this detailed review! I am excited to get out and use this!
Great work Russ. You are doing an yeoman service for this fraternity. Thanks so much.
Great content and information! Thanks for being so informative. You live in Minot, ND?
I do.
Thank you. I'm going to be ordering mine tomorrow and I will be watching all your videos.. Subscribed today
Just discovered your channel. I currently have the mini 2. Probably going to pull the trigger and get the mini 3.
Excellent podcast invaluable information keep up the good work Loads of LUV from everybody in the UK.
Great stuff thanks. Yes mine switched off a couple of times at home while I adjusted etc. I now sit it on my laptop cooling pad while investigating settings.
this looks like a good solid choice for a first video drone. looks very approachable.
Thanks for sharing your experience and great tips. I purchased the Mini 3 Pro today, your advice will help me advance quicker in my development!
Thanks!
Had my first flight today on a mini 2. I’m hooked. I should have just bought one years ago when the mavic mini came out.
