Definitely impressed with the optical avoidance in amongst those trees especially at pace with some of those smaller branches/sticks poking out. Very impressive it followed you throughout the run. Would love to see another straight speed test with the mini 4 to see if it really did miss that branch or it was just luck.
Two drones strapped on top of an FPV gives you new legendary status! The branch test, I think the 4 aced it not that the mini3 was bad! I think the mini 4 is worth it for waypoints alone
Same Update as iPhone 14 Pro to iPhone 15 Pro. Just small changes to make it a little bit better. It's hard to make a great product even greater. But I really appreciate they've put the bigger antenas on the remote. Also, I really appreciate your videos! Keep em coming!
Apparently the Mini 4 Pro has a stacked sensor, that's something the Mini 3 Pro does not. So a slight advantage of the Mini 4 on the camera front. Thanks for the info Sam from my Editing Course Discord Group! EDIT: Seems like UA-cam has compressed the video to pieces.

I am so excited I get my my mini 3 pro tomorrow. I wanted the 4 but the price had me think other wise. Coming from the mini 1 i can say the 3 will be just fine for me.
I bought mine 1 year ago, and I regret it so much now, I did not like that it only had D-Cinelike, the new one has D-log which would make me use the drone 10 times more. But I can not justify buying the new one since I have the Mini 3 PRo. Great video Peter, I got to know everything I wanted to know. Crazy invention at the start as well :-)
I have the Mini 3 Pro and ordered the 4 Pro yesterday. Def want the automated modes as a solo content creator, value the D log for high quality video, the added peace of mind with the new sensors, plus the upgraded controller and flight comms.

Small correction as the D LOG on the Mini 4 Pro is D LOG M. If anyone is using Mavic 3 D LOG conversions, they won't have the same contrast values when used on D LOG M footage. Great vid!

As someone fairly new to drones, I *would* love to get the 4, especially for the safety of full surround collision detection (and the other new features are nice too). I'd have to sell my mini 3 pro to afford it, though.
coming from mini 2 to mini 4 is a great leap, the features and camera of this drone doubles my expectations compare to mini 2, I was not really into the obstacle avoidance but it's a good addition, what interest me is the D-log,
Can we mark the way points while holding the drone ..(like in a forest under and over the branches )and just leave the drone to fly the path we created …you think it is possible??loved your video mate ❤❤❤

The waypoint shots with the car is the biggest reason for me to switch from 3 Pro to 4 Pro. It was almost impossible for me to be tracked/fly manual when I drive my MC.
maybe not most unecessary but definitely the most extra... and I'm here for it! the duct tape test allowed me to see the DR is like maybe half a stop different in the highlights. thanks for this video!

Thanks for the review. I would probably get 1/5th of the cost for selling the mini 3 so it doesn't seem like its worth an upgrade to me. I'll wait another 1.5 years and upgrade to the 5 when that comes out, which I'm sure will have improved obstacle avoidance (Since this is the first mini to do full obstacle avoidance) and a better camera and other features.

I've been flying my friends drone so this will be my first one, so i will go with the 4 Pro after this. I'm sure as a newbie, i'll start off slow but will progress quickly as we like to take photos of our trips. The reason i really wanted to find a good video was for the active track option, now i feel i understand it a lot better and thats why I'm starting with a more expensive drone (and flying my friends has given me the confidence that i won't write it off on my first flight!). Great great video~! I'm upgrading my M3P to the M4P. I've had the 3 for 6 months and as a solo content creator the options for the 4 with waypoints and extra sensors is worth the upgrade. If I was a just a hobbiest the 3 would work fine. But for me to have the Waypoints allows for more creative shots by myself. I'm selling my M3P for $1200 on ebay, it comes with the fly more package too. Good luck!
9:07 You should be paid by DJI or at least get the drones free. The tracking of both drones while you were running in the forest was almost scary (thinking of military applications). I couldn't believe how good the drones tracked you through the trees, etc. Incredible. Excellent video, thank you!
Can always count on you to do something different. Thanks for this review Peter. It all depends on the use case right! Overall, if you can get a good price for selling the mini 3 to offset the cost of m4p then it's a no brainer. We would all have liked to see some significant improvements with the camera but it's performing well. That coupled with the new obstacle avoidance, waypoints, d-log m and lets not forget occusync 4.0 transmission.... I think it's a great improvement to the mini series.
It absolutley has some nice features, but nothing that would make me instantly sell my 3 pro if i only had that. That said, the 4 pro is a wicked drone!
Just got the mini 2 with the fly more combo for my Hawaii trip to get some shots knowing this was coming out soon. Definitely going to send back the mini 2 get that money and put it towards the mini 4 Pro.

The start of your vid I thought " I'm gunna hate this person". But as it went on. Very Good. Thought you were gonna have a heart attack from running in th wood AND from the stress of listening to hear if the drones crashed.lol. Final thoughts... ONE OF THE BEST VIDS OUT IN THE INTERNET WORLD! I think DJI should sponsor you some replacement parts at the very least. Definitely talked me in to picking up a few for the teenage kids for XMas. The omnidirectional sensors makes it an easy decision for sure. They did want The stunt drones but..I doubt they will last long and the weight of them makes chosing the Mini 4 a done deal. I stick with my 2 and Mini 3 Pro. Almost got a Mavic 2 Advanced but the dealer decided not to sell to me because I question why the Advanced is a bit more then the Mavic 3ET. Lol No explanation why he decided not to sell to me. I took that as a sign not to buy the Thermals for DJI. I'm a Volunteer Firefighter. Also take pics and vid for archives for possible future use in terms of Environment and Wildlife. Archiving changes annually/seasonally could be a huge benefit for future unforeseeable "events". I guess what I'm getting at is... Do you have any reviews or recommendations of other drones with this type of reliable capacity? Hope that makes sense.lol Once again thanks for the great vid.
As someone who flies sideways, like a lot, just the omni directional sensors justify the upgrade. Have crashed my mini 3 pro at least twice for the same reason. If only they could somehow add a tele lens to it, it would kill!

Jag är väldigt ny i det här och fick en rekommendation ifrån en arbetskollega om neo men efter att ha tittat på den så vill jag har lite bättre videokvalitet i inspelningarna. Just nu när jag tittar på begagnatmarknaden kan jag få en mini 3 pro för ca 6k med rc kontrollern och som lägst får jag en mini 4 pro för ca 9k. Jag är inte duktig på att redigera i efterhand (även om jag skulle vilja lära mig) så eventuellt att det då lutar mot en 4a? Hur skulle du tänka? Jag har heller ingen aning hur det här ser ut i praktiken, Jag tänker mig att om man spontat vill bara ha dessa med sig om man exempelvis är ute och promenerar , är det någon av dessa som är enklare att hantera om man tänker sig rent i kontrollern eller typ hur den följer en mm. Nah, I will pass. Besides, it most likely DJI not even make the Mini 4 compatible with the Integra goggles, and that alone is a big chunk of money on technology quickly wasted. I hate this cheap-Chinese marketing strategy from DJI adding software features to the newer models and not releasing these features to last years' models to force fools to upgrade. The trend of monthly subscriptions we pay, and the purchase of the new models for phones, drones, watches...will be a small fortune wasted within a life time. Control my wants, and invest on my needs, will take me to a better financial status within a decade or two. Great video though!

im guessing that branch was too difficult even to better sensors to avoid, the mini 4 simply got lucky

As far as I know the difference between d-log and d-cinelike is not as much as you think. Therefore you don’t have to be sad.

I upgraded from the 3 to the 4 and all my best footage has come from the 4, it was well worth the upgrade for me personally.

Besides, it most likely DJI not even make the Mini 4 compatible with the Integra goggles, and that alone is a big chunk of money on technology quickly wasted.
I hate this cheap-Chinese marketing strategy from DJI adding software features to the newer models and not releasing these features to last years' models to force fools to upgrade.
The trend of monthly subscriptions we pay, and the purchase of the new models for phones, drones, watches...will be a small fortune wasted within a life time.
Control my wants, and invest on my needs, will take me to a better financial status within a decade or two. Great video though!

Tha Air 2 S has a bigger sensor, so i'd say it's the better option!
Also air2s weighs more so it fights the wind better....
