Elvis gave an astronomical 1,684 Concerts and over 6,000 Live Performances during his 24 year career, an astonishing and amazing achievement not surpassed by anyone else in the music business! And over 2.5+ Billion Records sold Worldwide (international sales went largely unreported so no one truly knows how many more records he actually sold around the world). The Highest Selling Single Artist in the History of Recorded Music. AND the Only Entertainer in the World that is a member of these 4 major Music Halls of Fame - Rock 'n Roll HOF, R&B HOF, Country HOF and Gospel HOF! His contributions to the blues and gospel and rockabilly often is misunderstood or undervalued. "Elvis created a new style all his own, and gave an injection to black music like no other artist had ever done." --- Legendary black entertainer Rufus Thomas.

Past movies about Elvis's life often neglected to explore his connection to black performers and culture. I'm glad this one will tell a fuller story. The black man you see talking to Elvis is B.B. Wow, that gave me chills! I can't wait to see it. Tom Hanks is going to be great as Cornel Parker. When I was a little girl, my Mom used to take my brother and I to the drive-in to see all the latest Elvis Presley movies. I have such wonderful memories of summer nights, sitting next to my Mom in the front seat, sipping a cold Dr. Pepper in a glass bottle and watching Elvis sing and dance on the giant screen. It was magical. Seems like there was always an Elvis or Johnny Cash record playing in the back ground of my childhood like a soundtrack. I also had an elderly great aunt who was in love with Elvis. She had a whole room decorated with Elvis commemorative plates, and Elvis dolls, statues, pictures and paintings. We called it her "shrine room". She was a sweet old soul and Elvis just delighted her heart and she would just come alive when anyone wanted to see her collection. Elvis touched a lot of lives. Not too many entertainers that do that today, in quite the same way.

Yes Cindy! That is a concern of many fans.
I hope this movie shows his
humanity....all the kindness and care he had for others ....the
obstacles he overcame...how he basically taught himself to play the guitar and piano...how he had no formal singing training ...
and eventhough he had no acting lessons he was naturally gifted as a comedic actor...that he memorized not only his lines in his 31 movies but everyone elses lines also...how he wanted so much to become a good actor..how he overcame being told more than once that he couldn't sing...had no talent..and that many people who knew him genuinely loved him ..and how much he loved his fans ...
sorry to go on and on
      but his fans just want
this film to show these other amazing things about him and not wind up portraying him
      like all the other films.

This movie has been made with such respect for Elvis and his roots and influences. It acknowledges Elvis' love of the blues and it's black roots. No not jealousy. Black artist have the right to be angry when they are blocked by radio and TV stations. When they are written out of the history of the music they created to articulate their pain and their capacity for joy in the face of terroism. Immitation may be seen as a form of flattery by some, but in the case of jazz, swing, blues and rock & roll artists it becomes a parasitic relationship where the black host is left weakened and impoverished.

Thank you for the reaction. I so enjoy you two. :)
This makes me smile so much, that young people are finally learning about Elvis.
I am a senior and remember all of this.
I have adored Elvis since I was a toddler.
It warms my heart that people are learning the true story of who he was...I raised my own children on his music.
    Now their children know.
He literally changed the course of American music and was a legend in his own time.
...and he was such a caring soul..... always helping others.
You see the reactions of the girls in the audience....
All this is quite authentic. (along with the scenery and costumes).
I think what most young people do not understand is that in the fifties , we had never seen anything even CLOSE to this!
Our music was country, gospel, swing, blues, Lawrence Welk, Perry Como....all rather tame..... our parents music.
We young people felt excitement with music for the first time....and WHAT excitement it was!
I've had young people today tell me they were so shocked at these reactions, because this is nothing by today's standards.
    It was another world then.
We felt excitement down to our soul when he danced and sang.
Some parents thought it was vulgar ..thankfully not mine. They knew there was no need. The local record store called me every time a new record was in. I would jump on my bicycle and rush to the store. LOL
It is impossible to describe how huge he truly was then.
His face was on every magazines all over the stores, movies were out consistently and more and more records. He was everywhere.
In the seventies at his live concerts it was still the same.
The first time I saw him in person, when he walked out, I was turned to stone.
He called my friend up to the stage! (but that is a whole story in itself. LOL)
Everyone was screaming and I could not even move.
    I adored him so.
He had charisma that permeated through, right down to your seat!
We were not allowed to camp out for tickets.
We had to mail and hope we were given good seats.
The minute it was announced, we jumped in our car and drove 30 miles to mail our money order, (they did not accept checks) from the city in which he was appearing.... in hopes that it would arrive there quicker.
I once bought a second row seat from a scalper.
Still one of the best nights of my life...
We would stalk the airport LOL...try to get into his hotel....:-)
    Such fond memories.
I have a huge 'storage' of Elvis memories.
I loved the end of this when they announce, "Elvis has left the building'.
This was what they announced at the end of every concert, because they knew women were running all around trying to find him. LOL....
Thank you so much for helping to keep his memory alive.
He really made that statement .."I'm going to be forty , and no one will remember me."
    If he only knew :-)

Checking to see what y'all actually thought of the film because it is very good but Austin Butler was great and did an incredible job throughout. But not only that, if you didn't know, Butler does play guitar and sing all the music in the film of young Elvis. The opening number, Trouble, That's Alright Mama... Butler is super talented and really captured the essence of Elvis. As he gets older in the film, they do switch over to Elvis's singing voice but he gave a stellar performance with his accent, his acting, singing, and dancing. You guys should do movie reviews as well after your trailers. I like hearing what people thought about films after they watch the trailers. I'm certain Austin Butler will get nominated for an Oscar for this film.

I am a Caucasian person that also grew up around a black community are some of my acquaintances with a move solid connections I have ever had in my life and I just love the fact if you are appreciating Elvis at his essence because I can't identify as a child remembering loving people for their essence which I connect it to... this is a golden truth Little Nugget of life but then if one could not connect idiot he's okay but it is great when you do connect two others that have the same kind of soulish of being! So Elvis with connecting to his soul brothers and sisters and you Mel and Shawn and me LOL

They look like they really knocked it out of the park. The director has been trying to get this movie made for almost ten years, the audition was apparently incredibly hard to score, and the role one of the most sought after so Austin Butler beat out many talented young actors then he worked with voice, acting, & movement coaches for a year & a half before filming which gives me great hope. Plus, the movie seems to be focused on his actual life from the people that were actually there so it should all go to making the first proper Elvis movie that proper Elvis fans can be proud of and is already turning the uneducated into Elvis faithful by making them seek out the real Elvis Presley to see what was the big deal then has them saying they get it after seeing him for themselves.

      @Sidragrosm Рік тому

Well, if nothing, NOTHING else..? He found the right actor for the role! (If Riley, Lisa Marie AND Priscilla to a person approve? Who's to say otherwise!) Elvis was a poor pretty white boy from Tupelo, who JUST so happened to have a true inner Bad Ass waiting to emerge. (give his take on Stranger in my home town, the uncensored version a listen - THAT'LL tell you EVERYTHING about The King!)
If Baz DOESN'T win it all for this..? then to Hell with the Oscars!

The reason why Elvis is the King.... He was not one sided.. in the 1950's.. he was intergrating black and white music... his talent was undeniabe. There r few solo artists or groups in a lifetime we can say that about... Elvis passed away when I was 10... but Mamma raised me on Elvis... Daddy raised me on Frank Sinatra... Yes I appreciated that music.. but I'm a child of Hair Band Era and then Hip Hop... I love all music...

Y’all are the channel that I was hoping would react to this trailer. I’m so glad you did!! Great Reaction!
Edit- Baz said that the singing was 100% Austin Butler for the younger Elvis music. For older Elvis it was about 50% Elvis and 50% Austin Butler singing. Apparently the Pandemic left them with a lot of obstacles. Including with the music.

Every song in this trailer was Elvis Presley singing . I did read that Butler did sing a little bit of the earliest recordings because those original early recordings from Sun records didn't have the ability to isolate the vocals The instruments and vocals were recorded together at the same time on one track. As technology progressed in the 60's Elvis' voice could be isolated from the instruments making it possible to put his voice with updated technology. None of the vocals in this trailer was Austin Butler, It was all Elvis, with the exception of "Well'" after he was told to get a haircut

No one can be Elvis, but it looks like Butler does a pretty good job here and it's got the great Tom Hanks, the best actor of our generation.
It's gonna cover not just Elvis but the turbulent times of the 30s to 70s and the segregation issues in America, and the great changes Elvis helped to bring about in our culture and music of the 20th century.
I also read it cost over $200 million to make. This movie is gonna be EPIC guys!
Great to see you again, and hope your gonna be at the premier on 24th June. I will be first in line, cant wait!

Love it

For some reason what I want to know is if they're going to bring up Jesse - Elvis's stillborn twin brother, they were so poor they had to bury him in a shoe box. Some say he used to go talk to his grave as a kid when he was angry or sad about something, others say they could hear him in the last years of his life talking to himself but like he was talking to Jesse and that he genuinely believed that he could hear Jesse's voice in his head. Apparently he got some idea that he had to live for two people.

If y'all are looking to hear (there won't any visual, save a few VERY fine, very rare photos of The King at that time) of ~just~ how awesome he was at ANYTHING he did (it's a Classic Blues number called "A Stranger in My Town," only this version is TOTALLY uncensored, unedited and oh, so, RAW!) give said song a listen. If Joe Cocker (a legend in his own right!) sez THAT was the song that sold him on Elvis being THE greatest white Blues singer (BB King, his long time friend & mentor ALSO claimed as such!) then nothing will!
You guys rule - keep on keeping on!
