    I was an extra on various scenes in this movie and I can tell you Austin Butler was electrifying in his performances on stage and was always in character as Elvis. Baz Luhrmann was an incredible motivator and, as you can see, the background extras gave their all and bought incredible energy to this movie.

    I don’t know what the right words are, When I watch what he entered into, his voice was magical but for the time he was in the popular culture said unbelievable comments and the same from other famous blues artists when I see Elvis saying he can’t criticize any other artists “There’s room for all of us” what a gifted person he was not just in his voice but compassion to touch so many it’s still being felt in 2022😎 There is only one King and he said that too. Thank you God for letting us all lose ourselves in the gift of music That’s made for EVERYONE!

    Brand new Elvis book, Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar, great cover and 536 pages of Elvis. It is a fitting tribute to the contributions that Elvis made to the movie industry. The 31 movies Elvis made always, always entertained everyone and Hollywood should recognize Elvis with an Oscar he so rightfully deserves. It looks like Austin Butler will be nominated for Elvis and no doubt he wins the best actor Oscar….hands down. You will love the book as much as the movie…..Aloha

    The director spent six years in Memphis, TN, and Tupelo, Mississippi, researching the part. The movie starts with Elvis' early influences by Gospel and Blues music in Memphis - Tom Hanks plays Tom Parker. Austin Butler was in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. If you watch the red carpet interviews for the release of that movie, you will see just how like Elvis he really is. It will be interesting to see if they show the relationship between Elvis, Priscilla Presley. and Ann-Margret. There's an interview from the Charlie Rose show from 1994 with Ann-Margret which is quite telling.... given how guarded Ann-Margret is of her relationship with Elvis

      Sorry he moved to Memphis TN but his early musical influences were in Tupelo Ms! The director actually spent time in Tupelo Ms! He learned the layout of the town where are the 4 white families including Elvis and his mother lived in the black neighborhood. Interviewed one of his black childhood friends from Tupelo Ms in 2019! The gentleman's name is Sam bell but sadly he passed away last year 2021. The interview with Sam bell is available on UA-cam!

    It blew me away!!!!!!
    Few points.. his relationship with his mum was absolutely normal!!!! Just close :) ELVIS loved food but ate normally with some southern eating thrown in. He did like to eat the same thing repeatedly…. But I am the same so I dunno if that’s odd??? Elvis was a normal healthy weight for the majority of his life. Of course as we get older our bodies change and we can’t eat as much as we once did…. That can play a factor in any human. Elvis was no different. After his mother died ELVIS talked about the grief… he dealt with it as all humans do.
    Elvis didn’t hand pick Priscilla. They met in Germany, it was also just after he had lost his mother and was in a strange place and in the army….. I think if you look for negatives you will find them.
    Elvis struggled with prescription medication because he had 9 body systems failing, he needed it but then became addicted. A very vicious cycle. They will touch on it for sure but I believe Baz will sensitively deal with it. With respect.
    Also the Martin Luther king murder impacted heavily on elvis… he recorded if I can dream after Walter earl Brown wrote it in response to the death. Elvis believed in it!!!
    As for toms accent…. He was Dutch originally…. Moved to America illegally. I don’t know but I think the accent is to shout it out - Tom wasn’t who he said he was!!! There will be no doubt after this movie about Parker’s start in life - no matter how much he tried to hide it!
    Enjoyed your reaction:) xxxx
    TCB always! Elvis Lives!

      Kurt Russell was not good in that part because he can't act. He's always Kurt with makeup pretending to be elvis. Elvis was 6 ft tall, Russell might be 5'9" and Kurt can't sing, and Austin sang all the early songs himself. Austin is also tall. Elvis was always tall onscreen and onstage. This movie shows the real elvis. I don't know how Austin did it. But it got a 12 minute standing ovation in Cannes. I see kurts version now and it looks like a cartoon. I'm sure Kurt is mortified. .

    It's brilliant that Hollywood still acknowledge the value of Elvis Presley, his legacy is beyond unique, his story is as exciting as it's sad. His music has led us on a journey for decades, his interpretation of songs he drew from other's has inspired so many, but it's taken this new generation to rediscover just how much Elvis Presley changed the way society thought, politically in the 1950s youth, musically for all and still relevant to this day.
    A few mistakes in the trailer...gotta be honest...
    Colonel Tom Parkers carnival days had been long gone when he first met Elvis, so the fair ground ferris wheel scene, didn't happen.
    The young Elvis in the gospel tent, too dramatic, Elvis may of snook into religious gospel churches, but he wasn't the centre of attention, or stricken with biblical seizures.
    Elvis working for Crown Electric Company, he still had blonde hair.
    The 1968 NBC TV Special, the Martin Luther King clip, the Special was being filmed in June of 1968, Martin Luther Kings assassination was carried out in April of 1968 in Memphis, yet the TV announced he had just been shot, poet license or disrespect to MLK, his sacrifice should be acknowledged with respect.
    OK....you may say I'm being petty, but Elvis is the most documented entertainer of all time, the Graceland archive has millions of artifacts and precise documents, which are also on a database, yet they still get it wrong, and that's just in the trailer, but that's Hollywood for you....it's $$$$ over fact.
    So if you feel I am being over protective or too pampering to detail, I understand, it's not my fault, it's the ignorance of the Hollywood personal involved, it shows they don't care about detail, so how much do they care about Elvis.....we will all enjoy the movie anyway, I'm looking forward to it's release.

    This looks cool! I'm glad, because it looks like they're really leaning into the fact that Elvis was HEAVILY influenced by Black American music/culture/dance. Rock and Roll, R&B, rap, soul, country, funk, jazz, blues (and more) -- all pioneered by Black Americans, so any movie that celebrates the origins and source of inspiration for artists like Elvis, and many other iconic musicians, I am super down for. I hope to see the king of rock and roll, Chuck Berry, make an appearance too! I'm all about movies like this -- but giving credit where credit is due is a MUST! This looks like the first of movies like this that really seems to do this tbh. We love to see it.

    • @heyrobwest3908
      @heyrobwest3908 2 роки тому

      Country was not pioneered by black Americans it grew out of white folk music oh the Appalachian Mountains and Deep South! Originating from what was called hillbilly music! What you're basically trying to insinuate is that all music originated out of Africa. But none of the immigrants from hundreds of countries in Europe and Asia bring their own culture to this continent!

      @WilliamHenryAlbert 2 роки тому

      @@heyrobwest3908 I really believe that was what Baz Luhrmann was trying to convey to the audience by combing blues, soul and rap in the movie. The movie is not a documentary on Elvis' life but it's about the situations around his rise to fame and his influences. I am an average white person from England but when I first heard artists like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and also harmony groups like the Shirelles, Marvelletes and Mary Wells etc, etc, I was transfixed. I have no idea where it came from but I still feel the power of this music to this day.

    Back here rewatching. Have seen the movie and wow! Never been a fan also, but just listen his songs here and there, but holy frick. Butler kills it as Elvis and I love some Tom Hanks, but this movie makes you hate him.

    Tom Hank's accent ... Colonel Parker's real name was Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk , an illegal immigrant from Breda, Netherlands .... he never obtained an American passport which in part explains why Elvis never performed outside the United States ..

    At last a film that looks like it will blow away much of the BS and cartoonist negativity and show just how stratospheric a superstar he was until he died..and importantly the man's Vision for the world..the central theme is not Elvis or the Colonel but a rhetorical to the world today

    Elvis´ manager Col Tom Parker was a Dutch immigrant. Thats why he had an accent. Also he was an ilegal alien in the US which was part of the reason that Elvis never flew out of the country to do concerts on the fear that he would not be allowed back in the states. Elvis never knew this. Thats why the Col, came up with the idea of playing Live Via Satellite. The only artist to be viewed by billions world wide. Nobody has ever done that since.

    I am so excited for this movie, I'm surprised you said Elvis handpicked Priscilla when you have had her on your show and she has told you how they met , she was invited back Elvis didn't have a say in that part , he had just lost his mum and he struck a connection with Priscilla! Elvis's relationship with his mum was very close , she was overprotective of him after losing his twin brother Jesse at childbirth!! I enjoyed your reaction though, hope you watch the movie and maybe listen to some more Elvis songs there are some amazing ones .TCB ❤

      @@johanley229 Jo hun no need to justify yourself. Noone can ever know who who we may or may not meet in our lives, It's just fate, fate put Elvis and Proscilla together despite their age difference at the time it was simply meant to be.
      Once Elvis knew her age he was more than respectful of it, of her and to her parents, he was raised that way.
      He was smitten the day they met, honoured her dignity till the day they wed and was never forced to.marry her despite what others may have said .
      This movie is gonna dispel quite a few unjustified myths.

    Austin Butler sings every song in this movie they sometimes overplayed it with some Elvis originals but most of the songs are sang by Austin himself
