hi. use a deep socket or tube to seat the key.. on axel. never hit the clutch. as you showed.. ok ??

Agreed. A teeny little tippy tap with a hammer 🔨 is needed with a socket still, but distributed evenly.

best thing i have found for gluing magnets back in is jb weld epoxy. also that grease was mingin, first thing i do on my own motors is to clean off factory grease and apply tungsten grease. it's super high heat resistance and provides low friction due to the tungsten particles.

I did just that with JB weld on this motor in the end, thanks!

    That was interesting. Thanks Darsh.
I'm surprised they don't manufacture these motors with a mechanical means of holding the magnets against the pull of the coils. As good as they are all chemical bonding will fail with heat and vibration.

I can't see what they would hold it in with unless it was plastic or something not ferrous, but I guess I'm not a design engineer so it's not my job! BAFANG seems to have got it down, never seen one with loose magnets even 15 odd year old motors. However some of the newer 'off brand' ones have failed within a year.

Or just recessed into the housing?

    • @MiniLuv-1984

@@EbikeRepairs I imagine the movement that has to be controlled is the in-out movement of the magnets as the coils get energised directly over the magnets and that force will get worse if controller timing is out. Not sure how recessing the magnets into the housing would help if above is the source of the loosening of the magnets? As you point out, not possible for us to solve - we don't make the motors :)

Too true... One day a community designed motor/ open source hub will enter the market, I'm sure.

Just put some superglue around the magnets without removing them. It will drip down and hold them in fine. Done this repair on a couple of motors. Just dont get glue between stator and magnets.

I haven't tried that, ended up job welding them all one by one, what a job!

Hello... Super glue holds? The motor hub heats up, will it be able to handle it?

dont take apart any further -- super glue magnets in place - could work ?

      @EbikeRepairs  8 місяців тому

I did end up jb welding them in place! I didn't post it because it looked messy and the comments would have been brutal 😂 working fine 6 months later though.

Thanks for all the info in your vids. I increased the speed on my ebike to 28mph it worked one time and after that now it only does about 23 on a flat surface without peddle assist what could be the problem it has two 30amp new fuses

It's possible that you made the motor a little crispy inside, and now it heat soaks? Is it warm to the touch after 15 mins riding?

It's possible it overheated and caused your magnets to lose some of their strength

Hey mate I have a fiido d11 and I'm having same issue could I use a 36v himo z20 wheel on instead

    • @EbikeRepairs

If they're all 36v 250w and have the same connector, it will probably run just fine

  •  8 місяців тому +1

Cyc mid drive motors tend to have the same problem.
