  • JBWeld HighHeat amzn.to/3sxpVqk - I was hearing scraping noises when I would do 2000W with my Bafang G60. I opened it up, and noticed the magnets had moved and were out of place. I used JBWeld HighHeat Epoxy to glue them in place. The specific motor is Bafang FM.G060.750.D (6)

    Dear E-BikeBuilder: Thank you for this video! You are skilled, you have and bought tools - and is still complicated and not easy. The thing with the magnets shouldn't be, put happens quite often. How is normal consumer dealing with that? Is there no warranty? E-Bike stuff does not last long enough. It should be guaranteed that an e-motor should last for example 50'000 miles or even more. If issues like these would be with cars, it would be a scandal!

      To be fair- the motor is 48v / 750w, and i have it on 72v / 2000w😜 But yes you are correct, i have seen loose magnets with stock setups. Ebikes have a wide range of quality control Lol some are very good and some are bad. I bought an Aventon bike, and they have good warranty and support- they gave me a new battery when some wires melted on a hot day. But yes i have heard many bad stories about ebike manufacturers not honoring warranties, even US ebike companies such Rad Power bikes seem to be struggling to meet customer support needs. If buying a Chinese ebike from a smaller manufacturer, i wouldn’t expect any kind of warranty support. When i buy motors or anything on Ali Express, i don’t expect any warranty or support and probably no returns either. It’s unfortunate but that’s just how it is at the moment. In this case BAFANG manufactures the motors, but they only sell them through distributors, who sell them to manufacturers of ebikes, etc. Bafang has no control over what distributors and manufacturers do with the motors. So in general if you want an ebike warranty it must be from a reputable ebike manufacturer in you country , that isn’t going to go bankrupt. When buying motor kits, the distributors are less likely to provide warranty support for DIY customers. There would be a burden of proof to prove the warranty claim was not due to user error. But yes ebikes break down often and have many issues. there will be a great demand for servicing and repairing them. 👨‍🔧 i hope to demonstrate that its not too difficult to fix these problems 👍🙌 If there’s a will, there’s a way 🙏👍

      Also a car cost 25000 ebike is about 2200? So warranty means way more money

    23:10 you seem to be missing a few hall effect sensor magnets on the wire side face plate.

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_  4 місяці тому

      Lol wow 😯 didnt realize that. My dual motor setup uses the rear hub as the primary speed sensor. I actually don’t know if my speedometer for that front hub ever worked right, That’s probably why Lol 😂 I don’t remember ever seeing them loose anywhere, i wonder what happened. Good eye! 👀

    It's not the magnets that are lose... It's expansion of stator due to heat during operation. A good quality motor shouldn't expand, unless you push to much power into it. Retight spokes after a hard ride, maybe true it too.
    By the look of that rotor, I can tell it has been rebuilt already because the magnets used are straight, they should be '' rounded'' . Also before you reput magnets in, you should mesure each magnet pull strenght and rearrange accordingly...strongest north should oppose strongest south, and so on until the weakest, this will improve efficiency by fraction, but it's the way...

      I got the g60 motor on ali express, it seemed new 🤷‍♂️ the magnets were round on one side, and flat on the other side. I didn’t measure the strength of the magnets before reassembling, never thought of that. 🤔 thank you for The thoughtful comment i bet you’re right and Heat has affected the rotor.

      I have a brand new ebike 300miles making grinding noise in the hub motor. It started the night after I rode it in a downpour and It fell to the ground hard when I lost ,my balance. Now every ride it will make that grinding noise and vibrate. I pull over and put on kickstand and run it for a minute and it goes away. What should I do? DIY open and check the magnets? Maybe the spokes as you mentioned, or maybe just water in case? Im trying to avoid spending 200-300 on new motor.

      ohh on this G60 hub motor im not sure about how long, its pretty easy probably easier than the BBS02. that i had to take apart the other day. Cuz i have a jaw puller for the gears on the hub motor. IDK how to pull that 02 rotor without some mac guyvering

      on this g60 motor i ended up havig to buy a new rotor for 50 bucks on ebay, eventually that rotor went out of tolerance, I mgiht have jacked it sideways with the gear puller, or idk it deformed from heat or something. The G62 can handle a LOT MORE than the g60
