Nintendo Wii U Disc Error 160-1400 FIX (2022)

- This is a major problem with a lot of Wii U consoles. In the video I go over the main reason as to why the Wii U is throwing the Disc Error 160-1400 code whenever you start up the machine.
The issue is NOT software related as the internet likes to claim. The main cause of this issue is actually a fuse that becomes shorted over time with long term use. In the video I go over where the fuse is located and how to source a replacement one.
I recommend testing the continuity of each fuse before you start ordering replacement parts. I made the mistake of purchasing 2 new disc drives thinking that was the issue. However, it was a board level issue the entire time.

Thanks for your help. I got all the way to recovery menu for the wii u and did the software fixes but to no avail. Now I most likely know that unit will take a board level fix to get going again. I will test continuity on the places you said. Thanks a ton for your help! I know I can replace such a part, but without a donor unit, Idk how to go about sourcing the fuse.
But then I saw you even linked to the spare part to purchase. Thanks, you're a day saver. Kept me from floundering on this one, and I'm onto the next one now, going to return to my 160-1400 brick at another date.

This video helps. I'm currently in the beginning process of trying to fix my old Wii's motherboard my younger self broke. I'm am Amateur but gaining experience as of late.
Already brought a donor's wii motherboard so all that is needed now is understanding the best way to remove the parts. 😅

I think I’m running into the same problem and I’m not sure how one would go about testing the fuse and replacing it. Any plans on doing a full tutorial anytime soon?
Right when I see another case, I will go ahead and publish another video. However, to test a fuse you need a multimeter and you need to test continuity. If there's no continuity then you know the fuse is bad and will need replacing.
Cant you just bridge the fuse?
@@IDeviceRepairOrlando Amigo, y si he verificado y hay continuidad en la bobina CM9 y CM10 por cada uno de sus lados, cual seria el problema? incluso se que mi lector de discos esta en un muy buen estado, estoy estancado en ese procesos, la continuidad de las bobinas marca un 1.9 a 2.1L, esta bien o es muy fuerte la continuidad?

This component is considered a fuse for the Wii U. The PS4 logicboards have a suitable replacement. I'll link a suitable replacement in the description.

Can't i just bridge the fuse, instead of replacing the whole fuse?
That's a temporary fix. If you do that you are risking further damage to your Wii U
Does the make the disc not spin?
This issue actually makes the console turn on initially then takes you to an error screen which you can not circumvent.
Could i replace the whole disk drive?
Depends on your issue. If it's a logicboard issue then replacing the disc drive will not fix your console.
