  • Wii U Error 160-1400 Resolved: Fixing the Disc Drive Fuse
If you've encountered the frustrating Wii U error code 160-1400, signaling disc drive issues, fear not - there's a specific solution that can bring your console back to life. This guide focuses on a common culprit: a blown fuse on the disc drive cable line connected to the motherboard. By replacing the fuse, you can banish the 160-1400 error and resume your gaming without a hitch.
Follow these steps to fix the Wii U error 160-1400:
    Diagnose the Issue:
Begin by confirming that the error is indeed related to the disc drive. Check for consistent issues with multiple game discs and ensure there are no visible signs of damage on the discs themselves.
    Identify the Fuse:
Open your Wii U console, locate the disc drive cable line connected to the motherboard, and identify the fuse on this line. A blown fuse may appear visibly damaged or discolored.
    Replace the Blown Fuse:
Once the blown fuse is identified, carefully desolder it from the motherboard. Source a replacement fuse with the same specifications and solder the new one in its place. Exercise caution during this process to avoid any damage to the motherboard or surrounding components.
    Power Cycle Your Wii U:
After replacing the fuse, power cycle your Wii U. Turn off the console, unplug it, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in and power it on. This step helps ensure that the changes take effect.
    Test with Discs:
Insert different game discs and check if the 160-1400 error persists. If the fuse replacement was successful, your Wii U should now read discs without any issues.
Thank you for your continued support!

Incredible, I have a Wiiu almost a decade ago, which had that same error. but when you turn it on and off several times trying to make it work miraculously, (because sometimes it started without the error) suddenly it never turned on again, could it be that both fuses burned out and that's why it doesn't turn on? I spent years looking for the solution and only now I see this video.. like and subscribe btw, thank you.

I've only soldered string lights that my old job needed up. What tools would I need to do this repair?

You'll need a microscope, soldering iron, flux, and very fine tweezers

This one may work or may be a little to big but the fuses i've been using have been sourced from doner boards. www.mobilesentrix.com/host-module-for-playstation-4-slim-pro-cuh-1200
