Just finished this job on my 2018 V-Strom 1000. To get the bolts out of the links I put a scissors jack on top of the rear tire and used a scrap of L channel steel to make contact on the frame brackets instead of the plastic under the fender. Spread the distance between the tire and the fender and the bolts come right out. This was after trying every trick I could to drive out the bolts without the jack. I looked at what forces were pushing which way and figured it out. I have a few pictures but I don't know how to post them.

proper way was to lift the rear end. have the wheel of the ground. no pressure on the suspension. loosen everything and lift the rear wheel afterward to remove the bolt...Another thing,it's assemble with loctite. If not willing to give...heat it up. Don't forget to put back with loctite!.

you were supposed to leave the suspension free, and then have a helper lift it to remove and install dog bone, you had a lot of tension keeping that on.

Bikes built better - the parts support is telling me this PSA linkage kit doesn’t fit my 2018 DL1000. Can you share a link of where bought this so I can see if they recommend it for my bike? Thanks!

We got it direct from PSR. Part number is 05-00765-22. Obviously, it fits! As of now we have more than 10,000 miles on it.

Well done! ...You didn't quit. How tall are you? I'm 5'6" and currently looking at this bike.

I'm 5'8", 33" inseam. We also moved the fork up in the trees about 1/2" and I'm now comfortably flat-footed. It's a fantastic bike; you'll love it!

Barry Manclark I have this bike as well and I’m 5-5. I don’t know my inseam but I went with the low seat option and lowered about 1” from stock hight. It’s comfortable for me but I can’t flat foot it. I will also be lowering it further with the linkage kit soon. I’ve had the bike about 2 months and love it! I stopped riding my Harley fat bob as much because I enjoy this ride much more. Keeping my Harley for short rides, but this is my go to bike now.

@@chrisauletta1082 I’m 5’3”, and have been looking at this bike after only ever riding cruisers. Do you think I could get it low enough?

Have you noticed a difference in how the bike handles after these changes? Are you more or less likely to ride now?

No handling difference that I notice. We also lowered the front forks a little by sliding the forks up in the trees. Of course I'm more likely to ride since I can put both feet flat on the ground. Heavily cambered roads, dirt roads, no worries!
