    Great idea to use the quarters; I'm glad I found this video. I just ordered a center stand for my V-Sstrom 800, so I found this video searching for a video for my specific bike. Thanks for the tips and tricks.

    Bro, you saved me with this video. The instructions that came with the kit are shit. The springs were difficult but manageable with a large needle nose pliers. Thank you for your service. Apparently not all heroes wear capes 😊

    Done a few drum brakes on cars. The one tool I have used many times for pulling springs is called a drum brake spring hook tool. Basically a hook with a handle on it. $10. Well worth having for this job. It's made for pulling stupid strong springs.

    good video. I tackled it without any other knowledge. The stand is used, and the spring stretched out. where to find new standspring about 5" long. Thanks for the video.

    Using the coins was a good idea. I'm still waiting for my OEM stand to arrive and I am *not* looking forward to that PITA spring installation! Thanks for the video.

      Those springs are indeed difficult - to put it mildly >:(
      I ended up connecting a nylon tie-down strap to the spring and through the rear spokes (where the spokes cross each other). Then, with bike secure on paddock stand, engine off and bike in neutral, I turned the back wheel with my hand. This provided the force needed to pull the spring into place.
      Does it put side stress on the spokes? Sure, but these are steel spokes, and putting the strap through where two spokes cross each other distributes the force.

    Where you get the complete kit? I see one on Amazon it's OEM but it doesn't show the brackets,bolts,or springs.

      @@ridingwithjosh4364 install complete. left side sits 4mm higher then right side when on centre stand. all bushes etc greased, stand is STIFF, difficult to lift, and drop. ( stand was from the wreckers, all bolt holes lined up easy, no clearence issues) 🤯🤯

    Hey Josh question for you, does the chain contact the center stand when the bikes on the side stand? I have the SW Motech and just noticed mine does. I don't think it does when i'm riding, but now i'm doubting myself!

    • @etnermontilla
      @etnermontilla 3 роки тому +1

      The chain *should not* touch anything than the sprockets and (if loosen, the plastic laminate below it).
      Imagine you touring your bike and reaching similar angle as when on the side stand, your chain ripping center stand?? OEM item does not offer that issue.

    I don't know what the pricing is like in the states but here the UK the oem stand is an absolute rip off. Cheapest I could find it was £283 so I fitted the sw motech it was £173 and is really high quality and super heavy duty. Anyway your bike looks really good man wish you many happy miles.

      @@ridingwithjosh4364 it's a good bit of kit for sure. Had the oem stand been cheaper though I would have bought that. My only complaint with the sw motech is instead of having a spring each side it has a really heavy duty double spring on one side and as you can imagine it was an absolute nightmare to pull.

      @@ridingwithjosh4364 ok just installed it. The video helped a lot and I used lock tight. Actually the installation of the rubber stopper was hard. The springs were easier with a Spring Pully I got on Amazon. But its cheap $10 so it already started to bend. But it did its job. Chain adjustment are now easy.
