    I've seen a lot reference tips that are a bit overcomplicated and sometimes not that effective, but this one sure is useful!!! Thanks ✌️🙏.

    Thank you for sharing your process! As a newbie to art it's always reassuring seeing you don't have to use imagination but take inspiration from many references to create your own piece! This was amazing!!

    My interest is using references for making music. Your video is a great example of making something original from combining things that *you* saw in your references (other people will see other things).

    Thanks for your help! I have trouble of using photos as reference and struggling to stylise them how I envision and end up just creating realism so your process really helps me understand how I can get out of this loop

    Awesome vid! You have nooo idea how long I felt guilty about doing this tbh, since the "oldschool" way was that using reference is bad haha!

      It was never old school it's more like an advise that some beginner artists got from relatives and friends that "know art." In fact the old masters (even musicians, poets and writers) used references and "copied". And many times they were praised for "copying" a previous famous artist. A good example of that is John Singer Sargent.

    • @seiorai_art
      @seiorai_art 2 роки тому +2

      @@rairachan2640 Yes and no, I remember being on a couple of "pro artist" forums, places where the likes of Marta Dahlig would post, and generally everything I heard was that referencing was stealing and you were severely frowned upon haha!

    • @rairachan2640
      @rairachan2640 2 роки тому

      @@seiorai_art oh then maybe you're right! I guess we just had different experiences. When I learned history of art in (not a flex everyone where I live studies that) I noticed how artists used some technics that today some will consider copying. Anyways it's good to know that even some masters "copied". 😊

    • @seiorai_art
      @seiorai_art 2 роки тому +2

      @@rairachan2640 Can't attest for art school, never attended. But I know every old master drew from life references, heck even Mona Lisa is a life referenced drawing ^^ So we're ok haha!

    Wonderful video with clear and excellent tips! I like to compile mood boards to inspire future arts I plan to do, and like yourself, pick something I like from each one to implement in my work. Though, I do have a question regarding "crediting the reference/sources." Some references I like to learn from on Pinterest do not source back to the creator/artist because they were uploaded from someone else. What would someone do in this case, to "thank" their muse? Asking for myself and basically anyone else who has run into this problem!

      Reverse image search

    • @KBCalvelo
      @KBCalvelo  2 роки тому

      Hey there! thank you so much! 😍 I usually do reverse image searches hehe or if I can't find the model or original, I will just message directly the one who posted it and ask for the the creator profile. Sometimes, when I really can't find the creator, I just post it on Instagram and add on my description saying "I can't find the creator, please comment if you know who made this", something like that. Hope this helps 😅

    Great video! Can you explain why you chose pink as the color to paint the shadows in multiply mode? In general, what would determine the color you use to paint on this layer?

    • @KBCalvelo
      @KBCalvelo  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I used pink because it blends well with the environment and time of the day. Brown and red colors for the shadows work well in a mid-day environment. While purple and pink work in the evening when the sun will set. 😅
