beginner artist here Just came across your channel and your art is amazing it’s given me the motivation to draw but I always get disappointed when my art doesn’t turn out right. I get ideas on what I want to draw and see them turn out amazing in my mind but once I launch my software to draw my mind all of the sudden goes blank. Any suggestions to help with that?
Hi King! Thank you! I know exactly what you feel. When I started, I used a method to improve but this still requires REPITITION AND TIME. So first off, You need to study other artist's work and trace their art. Now, I don't mean trace their work and claim it as your own and post it. Only use this method to understand the creative process of the artists, breakdown their work into simple shapes of squares, circles and triangles. This will allow you to know the placement of the eyes, nose, anatomy, literally everything that makes the character whole.. Once you break down the shapes, remove the artist's work in the canvas, leaving the breakdown lines you did. The artist's work should be on the side of your screen for guidance. Lower the opacity of the breakdown lines and create a new layer above it. Draw over it for your second attempt to break it down into simple shapes but this time a little bit more detailed. Once your done, repeat the process again by lowering the opacity, create a new layer and draw over it. Keep drawing over your breakdowns till you become confident enough to add the elements to make it a finish piece. Watch one of Ethan Becker's video 😉..
@@superboard484 hey if it helps you can try getting regular paper and a pencil and try to sketch out your idea as quickly and messily as possible, just to get it on paper first. You can then draw a more detailed drawing based off of that. Not sure if that would work for you but it tends to do so for me 😊

I learn a lot of things today, I hope I could learn how you use your layer blending mode more clearly in the future video because when I paint the shadow or highlight I just pick the color and paint never really use the blending mode before.

Dude... That looks so sick! I've always try to make the eyes small like RL. I wasn't even aware that we can just exaggerate the features. Learned so much in this video! SUB! Even though you made it look easy in your drawing. I'm sure it took HOURS and HOURS. Turned out amazing man.

Thank you for this tutorials, I am stuck at the shading lighting part of the art. Taking note and remembering them 1 - Form shadow 2 - Cast Shadow 3 - Contact Shadow And then come lighting This are the hardest part for me, I will have to continue practicing until it feel like natural to me
Oh, I didn't cover it that much but I will in a separate video, I can give a brief about lighting right now. Just like shadows, there are multiple types of lighting: 1. Direct Light - Most intense light that captures the viewer's eye 2. Diffused Light - Secondary light that doesn't compete with the direct light's intensity but good to support the visual story. 3. Highlight - For details, like eye shine and sweat. 4. Rim Light - Light from behind 5. Bounce Light - light coming from other objects but not from the main light source. And I paint these lighting using the following blend modes: 1. Linear dodge and color dodge are good for direct light, rim light, and highlight 2. Overlay and Hard light are good for bounce light and diffused light. The blend modes will just help you create the foundation you need to see your art piece come to life but it is not something you should rely on when finalizing your art piece. Good old fashion brush painting and color picking should do the last resort 😉 Hope these help, will make a video of it in the future because one comment will not cover everything hehe 😅 Good luck, Friend!

It was a completely different version of the sketch made from scratch. The approach was described on the right side of the screen
