Sad to see so many people feel the need to trash one artist in order to build up their personal favorite. My brother and I did that when we were 10 years old, then we grew up.
Most people don't even realize they're there half the time but you have to give SO MUCH credit to the Drummer's and the Bassist's that provide such an AWESOME Rhythm (I can never spell that word right) section for these guys to play and yet get none of the glory. They get no respect outside of the Blues world and THAT is a fact. I heard Bon Jovi make a shit remark once in a documentary "I'm not gonna go along with it because some Bass player's wife voted on it". Like the Bass is the shit-end of it all but trust me, a Blues guitarist has nothing but praise and respect for you guys. You are, TRULY, the "eggs in every omelette".
Josh's playing is more jazzy, more tasty with his voicings whereas Joe is much more punctual and dynamic with a strong vocal quality to his playing...what a incredible mix !!
@@edwinpringle7342 I think, he just meant, humbuckers and singlecoils sounds so tasty in a jam, than if you have two guitarists both using humbuckers. They are made to compliment each other.
Josh Smith is the best blues guitarist currently goin' for my money. All the hippest notes without ever losing the blues feel. We have moved far beyond the Stevie Ray Vaughan days. I gotta hear some hip notes and passing tones. Either of these cats offer that but I am straight up in love with Josh's style.
Josh Smith and Bonamassa are a awesome guitar duo. This shows how really great musicians listen to each other and they know how to compliment the situation. These guys are a perfect example of what a mature musician is supposed to be.
When Joe's hat flew off he leaned back and opened up. These guys a great. It's an honor to watch them play. I really loved when both were swaying and playing, so natural.😊
After Josh's solo, at 10:13 someone in the crowd says: "..holy shit...". That says it all. First saw Josh tear it up when he was a teen playing in a West Palm Beach Club. Josh Smith and the Frost. Ha, still have the hat! He just keeps getting better.
Cold blooded every single one. Big shout out to the Jaydon Bean the drummer - perfect groovy pocket and responses to the solos. Not easy with such a slow shuffle. Incredible drumming and makes it look simple and easy. AND great sounding drums.
Stumbling through youtube looking for some great live music, I decide on a little John Scofield, which gets me to some Larry Carlton, which gets me to Robben Ford, which got me to some Bonamassa... which gets me to discovering this Josh Smith... great great player... Also, i love when you get two greats playing together - one with an LP and one with a Tele or Strat (or copy). Something about a Tele or Strat that when played great are just the bees knees. The tone he gets out of whatever that Tele copy is, is spectacular....
two true masters of the blues! But Josh Smith is beyond that - so much JAZZZZZZZZZZZZ and country! So much touch and such a broad spectrum! I tip my hat to Joe going out on stage with Josh leading the way. And I tip my hat to Josh giving Joe space to breathe.
Discovered Josh Smith because of this video (having Joe's name in the title helped). Holy vibrato batman .... wonderful phrasing and soulful playing. Me thinks I'll be listening to more of this guitar man. And no need for comparisons ... when you achieve this level of skill and musicianship it's a mute point.
There really is no versus here. Each player has his style. Each style is different and unique but both incredibly enjoyable. I am more familiar with Joe and have heard him really tear it up, a lot more than he did here. As a former professional musician (drummer), it is always enjoyable to jam with colleagues. It is not a competition simply because of a pure love of music. Musicians are truly connected to their soul. Now they need some Eric Czar bass playing mixed in. I miss him.
Fantastic.... must have watched it 50 times and am sure to watch it more. I love Bonamassa's compressed tone, (a few Albert Collins licks in there ) and then Josh releases his uncompressed super reverb tone with a ton of reverb, which to me is the holy grail of blues tones. Great playing by both and a pleasure to watch!!
This is one if maybe not the best music video i know. Great jam by great musicians and its authentic as it can be. Watching this over and over again. Josh and Joe rock the shit with so much flow. Way better then the eavening shows. Thanks for recording and posting this amazing one!!! Cheers!!
I sayjy these o amazg artists. They each have heir own sound. Im a huge 'Massa fan and thanks o his video, i will checking ot Mr Josh Smh as well. What a mix of guitars. Damn
That volume fade solo from Bonamossa was crazy. Also, he coaxes a ton of tones from tweaking his volume knobs and pickup selector - so good. However, I can't trust the blues from someone in a hoodie. Hah!

Victor M nah, that one's been settled for quite a while now and it's Shawn Lane.
Thom Vogan These two are both incredible!!
Thom Vogan...I CONCUR!!!

Ahhh the irony of Joe NOT wearing sunglasses while in the actual sun.

Joe's playing makes my eyes water, Josh is no slouch either.

Josh is the BEST R&B player of the current crop.
Legend has it that there was no wind that day..
Both incredible players...just amazing.
can we just take a moment appreciate the movie-perfect laugh of the guy recording?
Some of those licks Josh Smith is hitting are fantastic.
Thank you for that trip to Blues Heaven.

Outrageous!!! The Blues Cruise might become the modern day Woodstock.
Josh Smith ladies and gentlemen!!!!!! Wow. I had heard him play before. But Damn.
Two of the best young(ish) blues guys side by side. Pretty awesome.

Josh Smith = Woah.. he's damn good!
Just another great player that I have discovered through Bonamassa. Davy Knowles and Josh need to tour with Joe one day.
