I hear a little Wes Montgomery in Guy's solo, what a great player and vocalist.
That was the best performance I have seen among guitar players that respected each other and displayed fantastic balance between the various talents of each one. On top that they looked like they were having fun playing. I am a guitarist and love to see that type of respect for each person's individual strengths.
If you are a guitarist who jams with other musicians a lot, you kinda understand that you tend to wanna show your chops and stand out right? But Guy seems not to care how much he shows his talent, he just play soft as usual and enjoy to creat the music with other musician.. so humble..
Three incredible guitarists and that band is killer. That keyboard player is cool as hell. Would have loved to hear more of him. Just a beautiful experience...it's joyous to watch musicians who are so skilled, who respect each other and still love what they do.
They're all GREAT, GREAT players... Guy, Josh, Greg pickin' & grinnin'.... Taylor on the keys ain't no slouch!!! Patrick on the skins!!!, Nick on bass!!!, What a bunch!!! All unrehearsed too! & Mr Moss!!! whoever gave this a thumbs down must be deaf or from another universe!! R&B is here to stay!!!
I just discovered Josh Smith recently and he has quickly become one of my new favorite players ... love the be bop vibe of his liner stuff and shitloads of feel.
King is incredible...stood toe to to toe with 2 of the best on the planet!

I played an open jam here once about 7 years ago. The house band was bad ass and the place was just cool. Chicago is the best music town for sure.

I haven't heard Guy King before but what a great player and singer! Many Albert King moves tucked in there but original too! Greg as usual is absolutely monstrous. I'm never quite sure what to make of Josh Smith ... he's obviously a terrific player but always seems to be a bridesmaid rather than the bride. The courage to go onstage with Greg Koch is totally admirable though!!

Master class playing right here. Guy King singing every lick he's playing then throws in some chord melody solos for good measure. Josh Smith, Greg Koch just knows how to answer each other musically. Keyboard drums and bass locked in.
I've been a blues guitar player for over 30 years and this is the first time I've ever heard of Guy King. Better late than never!
