What We Eat in Shanghai 🍜 China’s Street Food + Hot Pot

- From Korean BBQ, street food, Thai, seafood, and burgers the size of my head, Shanghai is truly a culinary heaven.
Chinese food is definitely one of the highlights of living in China. Whilst Shanghai might not be the first city in Asia you think of when you hear the words street food, you can still find wonder night food markets in the city.
The Best Street Food in Shanghai can be found at Sijing Night Market, just a short walk away from Sijing Metro Station (Line 9) in Songjiang District. It's not often the locals see a foreigner in this part of the city, so many venders were excited to wave to me and talk to me. The night market really has something for everyone, whether it's dumplings, seafood, rice cakes, or noodles.
When we are not eating home cooked meals and healthy dishes we often go for traditional hotpot, meat skewers, or BBQ. It is a great way to try new foods and flavours. With Shanghai being such an international city you will also be able to find international cuisines such as Korean food, Japanese, and Western foods like burgers and pizza (or my favourite: ice cream).
It's important to say, WE DO NOT EAT LIKE THIS EVERYDAY 😂If we did, it wouldn't be healthy. I have chosen to show some of our local recommended food adventures from the past two months for if you are planning on traveling to Shanghai.

韩国烧烤、街头小吃、泰国菜、各类海鲜以及像我一样大的汉堡…上海确实是一个美食天堂。
中式美食绝对是生活在中国的亮点之一。也许提到美食、夜市，第一个冲入你脑海的不是上海，但你仍然可以在这个城市找到神奇的夜市。
上海最好的街头美食可以在洞泾找到，距离9号线仅仅几步之遥。当地人很少在这里看到外国人，所以许多商家兴奋地向我挥手，与我交谈。
我们经常去吃传统火锅、烤肉或烧烤。这是尝试新食物和口味的好方法。由于上海是一个如此国际化的城市，你还可以找到国际美食，如韩国菜、日本菜和西餐，如汉堡和比萨饼（或我最喜欢的：冰淇淋）。
其实我们不是每天都这样吃，这样的饮食不太健康哈哈哈。如果你打算去上海旅行，我可以告诉你最近两个月刚刚种草的美食！一定不会踩坑的喔^_^

My favorite Shanghai food are wok fried Shanghai thick noodle with cabbage and beef, pan fried dumplings and pan fried green onion "pizza" pancake. 😊

In Shanghai, you can really enjoy cuisine from various countries, and there are many Western restaurants in Shanghai. There is also a Korean street in Shanghai that mainly sells Korean food.
Exactly! You can find pretty much any cuisine you want! It’s also so quick and easy to order food to any location in China and is much more convenient than in England! 😍

Is the songjiang street food cheaper than the areas closer to downtown?
Actually street food like this was banned in the city centre a few years ago so if you want street food like this in Shanghai you will only find in small shops/vans like in Korea town where it will stay all day. I haven’t seen another food market like this one downtown.
@@ExpatNatt ahh, too bad. Hopefully they bring it back. I am definitely gonna be on the lookout for affordable high protein eats like skewers, and I'll most likely be living in Songjiang.
